I'm posting this because I have had very severe Eczema for my whole life, and was wondering, who here on GTP has it? What has worked for you? Any advice for someone going insane trying not to scratch? How do you deal with rude comments from other people?

Wow, someone else here has Eczema.

I should make a club.

I'd have a rant about it but it would go on forever.

I probably had it worse when I was a kid, it's not so bad now. I just have to make sure I cut my nails often and try to minimise dust so I end up cleaning alot.

At the moment it's decided to be bad in my scalp, which is damn uncomfortable.

This is now the Officila GTP Eczema club :dopey: not that I'm proudof it, but it's a part of who I am now.

Atopic Dermatitis is a rash that gets very itchy, not contagious, usually people also have dry skin, irritated red blotches from scratching. (ish. ) Only people with Eczema can join.

Race Idiot, have you used anything that worked for you?

My Eczema isn't too noticeable though, it used to be pretty bad when I was younger. I find it gets worse when im stressed though.

Edit: menglan where abouts do you have it worst?

Edit: Hmmm, god knows. I've been through loads of different moisturisers, antibiotics etc

At the moment I use this new fangled stuff Called protopic, it seems to work well and it's not a steroid or an antibiotic so you don't develop a resistance to it.

mine is the first thing people notice about me. :grumpy: Almost always flaring up, it usually does pretty well now. Itches like none other, but not red all over.

EDIT: Ankles, wrists, lower legs, forearms.

You?

How old are you? Mine was fairly noticeable when I was at school. But as i've got older it's not so noticeable.

HA!!!!!!!! that stuff actually made mine Worse...

I think i've tried at least 30-40 different things, if not more.

EDIT: 16 in 5 days.

Yeah mine pretty much sucked arse when I was a teenager, it got less noticeable when I was about 18. I think it's all the hormones and such that help make it worse.

Yeah, they said that it works with some people and others it feels like burning or something. God knows how many things i've tried, my doctors file is bloody huge.

Yeah, I've tried creams, suntans, light treatments, various things to pu into the bath, my Dermatologist might as well have a milk crate of all the files on me.

At the moment the only place I have Ecezema on is my scalp, which is just damn.

Damn damn arse.

Yes.

I haven't had the need to see a Dermatologist for a long time up until now though.

Oh yeah, when I was 16 I had UV light treatment. Which was odd, but did seem to help it slightly. Although I've never had it since.

I have it on my scalp too. Scalpicin is your friend, and having it on your scalp sucks. I did the uV treatment for a year, it worked well, and wore off quite a bit.

Scalpicin? Whasat? Shampoo? Ointment? At the moment i'm having to use err, some sort of ointment. I forget what it is.

At one point I had an ear infection, which spread and ended up getting me Eczema in my hair. At the moment it's ok, but it gets just dry.

The UV was crazy, I had to stand up in a cubicle and get bombarded with rays. Although I only did it for a few weeks.

Make that 3 members. :) I have it too.

It's nowhere near as bad now as it was when I was much younger (especially when I was 5 or 6 – I'd scratch the folds of my arms (the part "opposite" of your elbow) so much that they'd bleed, get permanent scabs, then I'd scratch those and start the process all over again). Last year it was really, really bad on my neck.

I've been taking Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream… works wonderfully, and usually heals the skin in a day or two. It's very, very strong stuff though (as in, overuse = bad).

I've got those on my actual elbows, although they aren't as bad as they used to be.

Oh and sup Eczema buddy. ;)

I'm beggining to wonder if i have it on my scalp, ever since i started using head and shoulders (shampoo) i've had a bit of an itch in a few places.
nd i've got this weird patch on like the armpit bit on the other side of your elbow, and i thought it was a rash, but it's been going on for a while now, so i think it might be eczema.
So, i'm a maybey.

I used to use the Cream you mentioned Sage, but now I use Clobetasol Propionate sparingly (1 tiny tube lasts more than a week) and it worked like a charm. I now use diphenHydramine that's twice as strong as the strongest over the counter Benadryl cream, because My doc wants to get me away from using topical steroids for my rash.

I used to itch my arm folds to death. Glad you guys Grew out, I'm still cursed.

I think I have it on my scalp but I'm not certain, it's not as itchy anymore but the skin hasn't healed properly yet, very flakey. It healed a fair bit when I was in Bali though, i was underwater like all day so that helped alot.

I have a small patch of something on my back right now. My doc said it was probably excema, but he gave me a referral to see a dermatologist.

I have never had excema before. Whatever I have right now doesn't itch too bad most of the time, but it is right at my belt line and my it gets really tender when my pants rub it.

I'm using hydrocortisone cream to keep the itching under control until I get in to see the dermy.

My arm maybey has been clearing up recently, and my scalp has been quite itchy since i went swimming yesterday. Damn chlorine. Mine's not flakey though, just very annoying

PS
Hey you punks, I'm a member too.

Nope. You must be certain that you have it. Sorry.

Some people have Various reactions to chlorine, while it dries my skin like none other, it helps the itching and inflammation quite a bit. Others get irritated by Chlorine.

@bfifteenv -I hope the hydrocortisone helps out for you. While I don't think it's possibele to catch Eczema, it is possible to have it and not know about it.

:)

I have it on my chest when my body is stressed or hot. So, I can sometimes call on it :D Then make it go away again by relaxing my body. :)

*Scratches head* *Goes to start typing* *Stops, scratches head again*

Say what? :D

It's just kinda interesting for me. For the longest time, I couldn't explain to people why I was always itchy, and it's also a different kind of itchy – it's more of a numb tingling. (In the course of writing that sentence, I've scratched my head 5 times, my leg twice, my left arm 3 times, my neck 4 times, and my big toe once.)

Oh, I hate that. It just happens randomly. And if you leave it for awhile, it gets worse because you keep thinking about it. >.<
