One of the other sites that I visit has these few nifty options in the quick reply area. It's nice to have there so I don't have to go into the advanced options to manipulate the text if I need to. You can also add links and quotes as you see. It looks to be the same format as we use here and may not be too much trouble to implement. It's really nice not to reload a page to access these options. What do you guys think of adding it to our forum?

I'm all for it, I always thought it was a cool feature and makes it easier to post quickly.

From,
Chris.

I think it is a great idea:tup:, I use the quick reply option frequently and this would save a hell of a lot of time spent writing HTML code:tup:.

EDIT: BB Code :dunce: - Thanks Sharky:tup:

Gets my vote. Kinda surprised that we dont have it already.

I have been wanting something like this for a while now. Its nice to have everything just a click away when you are editing something. Im all for it.

HTML code.
BBcode ;)

I really want to see this implemented 👍 I would also like an option where quoting a post takes you to quick reply, not a whole new posting page (as in, the quote jumps into quick reply). :)

This sounds pretty good. Although not having it I've learned how to write all the necessary code for things I want done. But this would make the quick reply box even more convenient.

No. The WYSIWYG editor, I find, is too slow, which would turn the Quick Reply box into the Not-So-Quick Reply XD

I vote no. It looks too cluttered. And it's not that hard to just write or the like anyway.

Or for that matter, just press "Ctrl + B" as it automatically makes the tags for you in the editor... at least in Firefox anyhow.
Ctrl + B
Ctrl + I
Ctrl + U

The IMG, URL, and Color tags are straight forward to remember as well...

I had never really seen a need for the options in Quick Reply, as that's not really what it's "for". But, if you guys really do want it, it is easy enough to enable.

Was the quick reply always there? Because I've found it to be more obtrusive since the new features were implemented (I personally never use it), and I'm wondering if there was an option to turn it off before.

Hey, Jordan turned on the QR box Uno posted.

PB: [ strike ] your text here [ /strike ] (no spaces, obviously). Personally, I'd prefer the strikeout to be and , a la HTML, it's a lot quicker to type :)

edit: After having a good look at the "new" QR box, I'm not a fan. The extra bar is a bit too obtrusive. If this was able to be user-toggled on or off that would be great.

There should be a button for the "strikeout" text.
There is the in the full post composition screen - look for the "S" with the line through it on the right hand side.

Hence the reason I never had it enabled before... :) It is actually on the User Options page, although it is the same option that controls the default editor selection. I'm not going to go modify the software so that there is yet another option for the type of editor which appears in the quick reply box. Personally, I've always considered it to be for "quick replies" - simple posts and nothing else, with no clunky editor to bloat the size or rendering time of the most frequently loaded page template on the site. If you want formatting options (and more room), that's what the full page editor is for.

Yes - play around with the "Message Editor Interface" setting of the User Options page in My GTPlanet.

Before Blake gets too angry, remember that vB tags can be mapped to anything. ;) Jordan has (thankfully) mapped the tags to <del>, so mapping to <del> wouldn’t be any different.

I know, but Sharky. was totally advocating use of the <s> tag! :p

That went better then if I had just used my

button.

Thanks Jordan for trying something new! Especially after recent events. 👍
