I'm probably not the only one here thinking that if you are running 1'10.4 you have already got a good setup...

Is PAL that much faster than NTSC? My best (dualshock) time with my Teg is in the low 11s.

I believe there to be a difference, I do not know how much.

When I use an NTSC-designed tune from this site, I can get pretty close fairly quickly. When I use a PAL-designed tune, I cannot.

I think they are exactly the same, PAL and NTSC. I run 1.11 - 1.12 and I'm on PAL - so to Josh and Brad - there's not much room for improvement. If someone does beat you - try PMing them to get the tune.......then post it here

The key here is to find a car with good torque and then put up the gear ratios really high, I use a Honda Integra Type-R and get about low 1.12-1.13 (Im an average driver)

I shorten the gears as far as they can possibly go. My Integra gets mid-11s and so does my Focus. I'm working on the Atenza now, but I've had to do a hell of a lot of tuning to get under 12, and I keep losing it... it's very difficult to tread the fine line between minimal understeer and insane oversteer in a car this long. Currently playing with insane tire stagger and weight balancing. How insane? I'm currently flirting with S2s and S1s. It's almost undriveable online.

What I'd like is someone to do a cooperS tune. With R1-S3s, minimal weight and the rest put on power, it absolutly flies - but I am to noobish to properly tweak the transmision and the suspention.

R1 might not be enough... the real trick is to keep the uphill cornering speed high enough... but then again, with enough power, it might not matter... Hmmmm.... I'll check it out later.

I got a 1'10.175 once in the Focus, most races I will get high 10's as a average without traffic with the odd mid 1'10. (PAL)

I know ITR's can do about the same, but very rare. Most fast guys stay in 1'11's range (both ITR's and Focus's).

Not asking you to divulge tuning secrets, but is your set-up a stagger or straight? I'm still working on my mid-11 Focus (though I've sort of gotten sidetracked trying to find good set-ups for rubbish cars... ).

hope my edits in there are ok with you

I had that exact ... issue ... with that car ... at the Fuji fwd race last month.

Yeah, it's a right pain to tune... which is all the fun.

R1's all around.

The plot thickens. I'm just now starting to try lower grip tunes. Haven't really played with the tires on the Focus and Teg, since they're the cars that need them least... but now I've got a handle.

I just hope Eiger FWD Pro doesn't go away with the update. Tuning FFs for competitive fun? That's something that GT4 never gave me...

If you're doing 1.10.4 then you don't need anybody's tune.
My PB is 10.345 and I'm not the slowest driver out there.

To be honest I know Eiger like the back of my hand, I have done ten times as many laps their as the other tracks probably combined, I used to go for and have had all the lap records of every car I used until PD kepted updating and reseting the leader boards then I gave up on running records.

There are a few techniques unique to each corner (all legal) that I learnt and use from when I used chase records, I hardly see anyone use them but they are quicker and they are hard to pick up from watching replays, I don't think my setup is all that wonderful, it is exactly the same setup I used on Fuji 550PP except I adjusted the gear ratios a very little.

I am sure I could break into a 1'09 if I 'hit' the right lap, I have been on path for a 1'09 a couple times but never finished it off. I don't mean to brag or anything like that I just know the track so well.

I just made this post for everyone who is worrying about not hitting 1'10's, tune helps but it really takes a lot of laps before you get familiar of how to optimise each corner

I am sure they will change it, I am glad they made these FF races.

I find the Focus just as quick as the ITR in this event, but more people seem to use the ITR.

The Focus will surprise you. Properly balanced, the Focus has better turn in and more out-of-corner torque than the Integra. The Integra is usually easier to drive because the rear end seems to stick like glue, no matter what you do, but the Focus is a great foil to the Honda.

Yep, the Focus loves to turn in fast and will over rotate if not not careful which will kill a lot of time, but the quick sharp turn in aids me in getting a good yaw/slip angle to get the car pointing in the right direction to get through the corner as fast as possible

I have not been on the forums long, and I hear this PAL, NTSC thing quite a bit. What is the difference? And why is it so?
BTW my personal best is a 1.11.5 with my Focus as I don't like using the overused Integra.

There are rumors of PAL being faster, but most of us are at the mid to high 11's, whether PAL or NTSC.

In GT4, there was some evidence to suggest that PAL laptimes are faster because of the way time was kept, but I don't really think it matters, overall.

Thanks, I always thought there was something funny going on, but you have calmed my fear of unfair times. 👍

I find it funny that people think that PAL version is faster than NTSC,the case here is that a lot more PAL version is sold (Europe and Australia) and don't get me wrong NTSC drivers in my opinion there is more skilled drivers in PAL version,Europians have always been at the top in every motorsport as drivers in real life and i guess simulation games to.
