either jay leno is a fool or its a novelty from PD

i won the tank car not to long ago and just thought id try it out and my word it sucks lol, it should be added to that thread regarding best & worst cars :lol:..

only 2 things can be added, tyres(racing softs for me) & regidy thing and they help in no way at all..

over 800hp and it only revs to 3000rpm?? :odd: , what purpose other than a novelty would it have... if PD are doing novelties, they shouldve added Doc's Delorean rather than a bog standard one...


just thought id share my view on the car 👍

read the description it has a tank engine. It's just a very weird experiment.
 
it is a 22000 CC WWII tank engine im pretty sure, they tuned it up a bit but left it N/A

it would push well over 2000 HP if it had 4 turbos on it ;) then you'd be smoking most cars in the game though and it would be overpowered so that isnt ever gonna happen hahaha

Its not meant to be a race car. Yes it probably is closer to a novelty than anything else, have you never thought 'what is the BIGGEST engine I could fit in this?', well this is the ultimate expression of that, or rather, here I have this engine out of a TANK, what can I build to drive it on the street!

There was a similar car built here in Australia that used a 55 chev and a P51 Mustang WWII fighter plane engine, supercharger and all, Guiness world record holder for most powerful street registered car in the world. Over 3000 BHP, but no dyno to test it on can go that high.

and yes there are dyno's that go that high but they are for the engine only ;)

and yeah this thing is real too he built it just because he is loaded as **** and he can.
 
I remember Jay Leno having a Ford GT in his garage one time, but now I think even David Letterman can whoop him!
 
as far as novelty cars go the bmw brutus would have been better than the tank car, 47 litre against 30 litre!!
 
Itonly revs to 3k because it has a giant 1800ci HEMI V12 from a Patton TANK.Do you expect such an enourmous engine to rev to 7k or more? The thing would blow up.
The hp of it in GT5 is no where close to IRL. Jay says thanks to fuel injection and intercoolers, its pushing 1400hp with an amazing 4mpg. thats up from 2 before. Plus it weighs 3500kg. what do you expect from it?

I wouldn't get too hung up on rpm's as a measure of performance. The Audi R10 LeMans car turned out its max torque in the 3000-5000 rpm range, very low-revving for a race car, and the R10 ain't too shabby.

When we're racing slot cars, guys get hung up on rpm numbers for motors all the time, but torque is a much better predictor of an engine's performance.

Anyway, even if the tank car is a pig, it's unique. Jay Leno has a sincere appreciation of cars, and it seems that car appreciation is at the heart of the GT series. In an odd way, it's a good fit to have the car in the game.
 
ha cheers for reply, i did actually read it after i made this thread, just for the sake of the read...

it would explain it lol, but its one of the most useless cars ive used, i tried it on the FR eifiel track on SE and wasnt going well at all, thats why i reckon its a novelty on PD behalf...

if i could change the title i would as i relise the jay leno bit is somewhat irrelevant now, i just thought he help make it as thats what i thought i heard before like... i dont follow jay leno, simply as i dont know how often he shows up on british television...

dont get me wrong its a cool car, but i expected a bit better regardless of it having a tank engine or not...
 
This reminds me of when I won the car. I immediately took it out on the High Speed Ring. I was crushing guard-rails all the way around. Has anybody noticed the crushed guard-rails?

yeah im not complaining or anything, if it was in gt4(which i never played) and it worked then it be obvious to include it again, i was just hoping it was going to perform as well as it looks as i like hot rod type cars...

i know the R10 tdi race car has low rpm, but it also gives greater speed, but regardless of the weight of the leno car, youd think it would do better against the crapyish cars on the FR SE Challenge...

Yeah, I thought it would perform better, too, until I found out it weighed 9500 pounds. Now I'm surprised it performs at all! :lol: This thing is a serious road-freak...

Have you tried it in many races? I tried it in one, don't remember which, and it's no race car. Kind of fun to drive, though. 👍

to be honest didnt take notice of the weight :lol: ... being a hot rod type car and with all that weight youd think it would still stick to the road well with racing softs tyres on, but it doesnt like corners at all it seems..

no, only tried that one race and gave up after the 1st lap lol..
