Between the DeLorean's outrageous value and Leno's Tank Car...
It's PD's sick sense of humour, I think.
 
The tank car rips to whoever thinks it doesnt, I golded a championship with it with cars the same weight class fairly easily. If it could have a custom tranny it would go even faster.

the 102 RPM is the biggest engine in the world, its in EMMA MAERSK a cargo ship and produces over 100000 hp, has 14 cylinders, and displaces a huge amount. huge.
 
reading that he recently upgraded to twin 91 mm turbo's with EFI at only 6PSI of boost is pushing over 1500 WHP now, probably 3000+ lb ft

says he breaks the tires loose up to third gear!

calculating it, if it makes 1500 hp and revs to 3000

that means it produces

1500x5252 / 3000 = 2626lb ft of torque at 3000 rpm. probably over 4000 at 1600.


which to me means fast as ****.

This car has so much history in it and is such a beautiful piece of artwork, and also is an included bit of American pop history for those who think GT5 is too "Japanese." Jay Leno has some amazing cars and though he didn't build this car himself it's still just beautifully done. Everyone who hates this car should watch the video posted on page 1, and maybe you'll appreciate it more ;).

One thing I like about GT5 is that it has wide and tight circuit racing, and so many cars that it's easy enough to find cars that rival each other or just do a specialty 1model race.

I mean I would argue the tank car has a place in GT5 if minivans and Cappuccino RMs do...

not in the world of GT it doesnt lol, it takes to long too catch up on the straights and doesnt like the corners which is your only chance of moving up the rankings..

real world its likely quicker, but only leno and the buffins who built know that answer...

yea, he made it just to make it. the man loves cars (any car). yea the car does suck.

I will end up being a poor Jay Leno (civics, tegs, legends, trucks, custom car i'm going to make, kind of like the atom, and if i'm lucky a 69 SS camaro and dodge viper, and i'm going to get my dads 76 TR6)
 
While not quite as wacky as the Tank Car, Jay's last project was with GM designing a turbine powered car that runs on biodiesel, Ecojet:

My ambition with the tank car is to take it out on a track with a narrow choke point, position it a 90 degrees to the track and watch the AI cars pile up.

I think I'll add the Aussie Chevy to my PD wish list!

to be honest didnt take notice of the weight :lol: ... being a hot rod type car and with all that weight youd think it would still stick to the road well with racing softs tyres on, but it doesnt like corners at all it seems..

no, only tried that one race and gave up after the 1st lap lol..

Man, that's a lot of weight to coax through a corner. That much weight doesn't like changing directions... Fun to try, though. :)

I agree with Tower Turn 13, it really is a nice looking hot rod. He called it artwork, and it really is. 👍

Poppins, I'm confused. You said you golded a championship with cars in the same weight class. What else weighs 9,500 pounds in GT5? Or am I misunderstanding you? (always possible)

it is a 22000 CC WWII tank engine im pretty sure, they tuned it up a bit but left it N/A

it would push well over 2000 HP if it had 4 turbos on it ;) then you'd be smoking most cars in the game though and it would be overpowered so that isnt ever gonna happen hahaha

Let´s say you´d smoke ´em on the straight. Except in drag race every straight is followed by a corner. That thing has a stopping distance of an Airplane :)

Yeah that was online - the Tank Car is a handful to drift but the bus is great fun! Everyone should have one!

Looking at the Blastolene website (the people who made the tank car) they are making an 'Indy Special' which also uses a tank engine, but is streamlined and appears more like a racing car.

yeah i meant similar power to weight, i cant even remember what championship but it was skylines and such.

i dont find stopping distance too bad, i have brake balance set 1-10 so it doesnt really lock up for me anymore and brakes pretty good

yes it is real and it makes me sad that we cant have the twin turbo'd 1500 hp beefed up version with the 6 speed allison double overdrive trans :(
 
I got very sick of the Tank Car after I won it though a car ticket for the third time. :mad:
