El Capitan, I miss it.

I miss Tahiti Road.

Midfield is a classic too.

Know what else would be freegin great? Road America. I live like an hour from there. It would make a really fun track for the mid to high powered cars because of the faster corners and major elevation changes. But thats an American track, and PD had a hard time putting more then like 25 American cars in much less tracks.

El Capitan and Seatle is what is missing in this game. New York would look cool too if they updated it with a time change and weather.

Also miss my Mid-Field which was my proving grounds and test track. I had such a huge database of lap times too :(

El Capitan is better than nearly anything...

Night racing on el Capitan in GT6 anyone?

Yesterday I booted up my PS2, deleted my GT4 savegame and started a new career. Wow.. the vast amount of things to do and the polish of it all is just overwhelming again, after the dry spell that is called GT5.

Anyway... just driving around the meandering mountain roads of El Capitan it struck me how beautiful this track is. I wish it was in GT5.

Or better yet, I wish there was an endurance race on El Capitan in GT5. I would do it over and over again. Just me, an Audi or a BMW and the road. For many hours... 👍

Glad, its been posted, I love this track and the reason I keep on firing up my PS2 once in a while,..

Seems to me that Deep Forest looks a bit like Road America.

I sold my PS2 and GT4 and regret it so much now. Every single course mentioned so far in this thread was great fun in not only GT4 but in Tourist Trophy as well. Città di aria on an R6

El Capitan was awesome! Apricot Hill was fun too. I'd like these two a lot better than Madrid, wow drag race between three turns.

Which is why Kaz should bring back the old tracks, for not everyone has a PS2 or old PS3.

More tracks, more replayability.

I wouldn't be surprised if PD release the original tracks they dropped for GT5 as DLC

Sort of..... Road America is a little over 4 miles long though, and the elevation changes are much more drastic in areas. especially the hill by the starting line.

You can get a fair look at it if you search for it on youtube. Look for some late 60's can-am race clips on youtube, good stuff.

Those snatches of El Capitan in various GT5 trailers and promos (I think there are others too?) are we sure that's not part of Eiger Nordwand? I could be showing my ignorance here, just want someone with more of an eye for detail to confirm (and believe me I so hope it's El Capitan and that we might see it as DLC!)

Im pretty sure Eiger Norwand is what PD thinks is "El Capitan 2.0" hence the similar track shape, real world locations, and offroad variations. But El capitan was the best (Not to mention it was the last surviving original track from an irl location)

Well, since we all feel the same way, we have to vote in the "bring back all old tracks" in the GT5 feedback forum! (it's in the most wanted tracks, in case you were wondering)

Old GT fans Unite!

Like I said, the North and South variations are very unnecessary, so those should be taken out.
Why take them out? I think all four base variations have their own personality and should be retained, unlike the full layout which feels too random. I use the North variation often for testing low to mid hp cars personally.

Also, Cape Ring needs reverse variations!
I think the tedious full layout is the "reverse variation", since you get to drive all sections covered by other variations in the reverse direction.

That was my favorite track because of that tunnel you went through, and after there is a dip in elevation. Loved landing cars sideways to make the upcoming turn.

It was my hotlap track.
Quoting this post as a representative for all other related comments.

I think that PD intended Eiger Nordwand to be the replacement for El Capitan in GT5.
If you think about it, it's got many El Capitan features (tunnel, tight section, elevation changes, and also three dirt layouts in the same area).

Exactly what I said 4 posts north ;)

I dislike how PD killed off two tracks from GT2, never to return.

Grindlewald was great, and RED ROCK.

Infineon, Spa, and Hockenheim would nice real world tracks too.

Maybe alittle short track love? Dover or Bristol.

And a Pikes Peak course.

Sorry for bad format.

EDIT: Just thought of Watkins Glen and the new Austin Formula One Circuit.

For being dbags and not putting in Siena Karting Track, I was REALLY hoping they would add Bristol, my 3rd favorite oval (Behind Daytona and Talledega)

EDIT- 500th Post! :dopey:

From the first Vision Gran Turismo trailer till Gran Turismo HD on TGS 2006, these tracks were avaiable in HD (upscaled that is):

- Twin Ring Motegi
- Grand Canyon
- Tahiti Maze / Circuit
- Costa Di Amalfi
- Citta Di Aria

You can see pictures of those here: http://www.giantbomb.com/gran-turismo-hd/61-21297/images/

And of course, El Capitan in one of the GT5 trailers.

I might understand that Motegi and Infineon were dropped because the license ended or something like that. But everything else, including Seattle, Midfield, have no reasonable excuse.

All GT4 tracks could be ported and with some work on textures and overall geometry, would look decent and help the game feel more complete. For example, Trial Mountain doesn't look like it had a lot of rework done, still it's on the game.

That was a trailer that I believe GTPlanet got hold of from Red Bull that got pulled on PD's request. At least I remember something like that happening...

El Capitan was a lot faster than Eiger. I used to tune a lot of cars in Infineon ( both config) in GT4. Plus Infineon have a 1/4 mile drag section :)

To El Capitan, Apricot Hill, Midfield, Infineon, Opera Paris, New York, Seattle

SALUTE 👍

Eiger Norwand?
El Capitan 2?
What Blasphemy!

That scuzzy rollerblade rut wouldn't make a pimple on El Capitans Start/Finish line.
