Endurance races NEED a 'confirm restart' option.

Today I started over and was about to attempt the 4h race once again.
I Drove for 3h and 15min. I had parked my car for over an hour, so I was a lap behind the lead. I was on the 19th lap.

I managed to do it again. Yes you heard me, I did it again. No ********. Only difference now was that I don't know why the marker was on restart instead of resume. The only thing I know is that I broke my controller by throwing it in a wall of bricks. I had to spend 15 mins in the bathroom screaming in a pillow while hitting invisible GT menu designers in front of me. It ended with exhaustion and I almost started to cry.

It happened to me last week when I was doing Suzuka 1000km.
I did nearly 50 laps and I accidentally restarted it.

In the past, GT games have been criticized for having too many menus, and making it seem like the player was unsure of anything. (Would you like to change this part? Install now? Are you sure? Wouldn't you rather have this one? You're absolutely sure? Ok, fine.)

3 hours into my 4 hour nurburgring endurance A-SPEC race someone talked to me at facebook. I paused the game, and took my time to talk to my friend. When I was about to resume I saw that my X2010 was on its way off course, so I pushed right (using a DS3) while pressing X to resume game. But of course I pressed right just before X and accidently pressed the restart race button.
Worst of all was that I was about to take a parking hour, this was supposed to be my last driving lap.

Conclusion:
MAKE A DAMN "ARE YOU SURE BUTTON?". what if this was in the 20th hour of a 24h event?!

I see these threads all the time. This is the first game I can remember that doesnt have an 'are you sure' command and I love it. I know if I want to restart or not. If you hit restart then you are to impatient and are rushing things. Either make sure you press start, or 'O' and never X and you'll never have an issue.

If you pause the game to walk away for a minute or 2, then select the options menu so you have an extra buffer incase 'someone else' accidentally hits the button.

What lesson have we learned? Dont do facebook updates during an enduro.

I agree. But it should be like "You sure you want to quit this endurance race? Or are you too blind to see that this isn't the resume button?"
 
Tottaly agree, same thing happend to me i had 20 mins left on nurburgring and pressed restart I am always double checking now. -_- Just press start or circle to unpause. This way you can't restart :)

If you think it's only facebook I pause for, you are wrong.
Perhaps not in your house, but in mine things actually happens. I pause all the time. And as a bad habit I resume with X quikly.


Another thing is that I simply can't understand that anyone could actually complain about a "are you sure?" button when it comes to restart a endurance race.

Actually it does not even have to be a restart button on endurance races. If you want to restart it is because you want to tune your car, which is done by quiting first.
 
There should be a confirmation message if you accidentally press 'restart' while on the pause menu during a race.

I was 3hours into the 4-hour roadster endurance, paused it to go to the toilet, came back and hadn't noticed the cursor had moved to 'restart' til after I'd pressed it. I'm mortified, fffck!

I totally agree with this, there should be one it has happened to me before but not in the enduros as i have just reached level 25 im sorry to hear that mate
 
Yeah it would be worse in a 24hour enduro for sure, makes me scared to do one for this very same reason. What if I accidentally do it again. In most games there is a "Are you sure you want to exit/restart" sorta message, why not GT5?

I agree with the "confirmation" thing when you restart a race.

On the other hand, when you're in the tuning shop, and you select something, do you really need..
"would you like to purchase this item?"
"Item purchased."
"Would you like to install this item?"
"Item installed"

Has anyone EVER bought something without installing it?
 
Items bought but not installed go to your items list. When you switch to a different car, you can choose to apply the items to that car instead of having to go back into the Tuning Shop. Saves a bit of time if you stock up on a dozen Stage III turbos, but kind of pointless.

Unfortunately, after merging both threads, I actually did use the SEARCH function and turned up many more... Merging with the old thread and bumping it up to the top.
 
Apologies - didn't think it was a common occurence but now I'm actually kinda glad I'm not the only one.
 
You could just pay atention before you resume the race....

I did this once on the 9 hr B-spec Tsukuba race...I was about 5ish hours in, and I came back in the room to check on the race. I hit A (not knowing that the B-button was pressed when I set the controller down), and it instantly exited out of the race...

What...a...bummer...

Or just allow you to swap with your B-Spec drivers instead of forcing the sub-games to be separate.

That was one of the best features of GT4 and I can't for the life of me understand its omission from GT5.

I've been asking myself over and over again why they changed that from GT4. They seemed to have the system right in that game where I could sub in a b-spec (AND fast-forward, no less) during an endurance or jump in and save him if he started running behind the pace...Also, the B-spec XP was strangely more complex in GT4, because you had to train him on several types of cars and race conditions. In GT5 he just gets XP no matter the car, afaik...

The least they could have done is have a save feature...I'm not in my 20s anymore, and I just don't have the time or motivation to run a FULL nonstop 24-hour race (even in three 8-hour stints over the weekend) unless they are offering like 100 million credits...I mean, I played the hell out of GT4 because I loved the game and had nothing but time on my hands back then and even then I was wary of doing a 24-hour race with b-spec and fast forward...Right now I'm at level 30 and somewhere along the way the game has morphed from fun to chore...

I just don't get how PD got so many things in this game perfect while fumbling the simple, no-brainer things...The devil is always in the details...

I did this on the 4hr Miata Race, i was 2 hours and 45 minutes in. Needless to say i havent touched that race since then

its so stupid to not have a confirm prompt on a race, they do with parts!!!
 
Happened to me too. But it was on lap 62/90 on Laguna, wasted 1 hour right there.
 
I just don't do endurance races anymore, because I had restarted in a 9hr race with 1 hour to go, in a 24 hr race with 6 hrs to go, and another with 8 to go. It is just some of those things like fast-forward or restart option that we wonder "who is the idiot who didn't put this in". This also makes GT5 less apealing because it is frustrating to go 16 hrs into a 24 hr race and hit restart. I hope furture updates will cure this.

When you end up doing it this many times, you have to take self control into consideration.

Would you want a restart confirm for every time during Licenses of Special Challenges? I'd rather not have them in exchange for a little self control when continuing.

And why are you in such a hurry that you cant take 1 second and make sure its on Resume rather then Quit?

Absolutely, but technically it should be no challenge to introduce the restart confirm only for races above a certain length.
 
Just press the Pause button (Start) again to unpause and this will not happen.:sly:
 
Now, every single time that i pause an Endurance, i enter on the Option > Brightess...

This make impossible u restart the game

I pause to pick up the phone and as i come back, my thumb slips and i enter exit...

WTF happened to the are you sure you want to restart?

Yeah they added an are you sure to the restart but not the exit?? But that exit is far away from the resume lol
