Yes, 24 hours is 24 hours long. Although you can use b-spec and speed it up.

The object is to do as many laps as you can in that time.

There is no set amount of laps on the endurances that have a time amount as you mentioned: 24, 9, 8, 4 etc. It is however many laps that can be clocked in, in the duration of the race. And yes, they are actually the number of hours listed if you run them in Aspec. Bspec allows you to speed the race up to x3 but must be reset to x3 after each pit. So you can actually run a 24 hour race in close to 9 hours. But you would have to tend to the race resetting after each pit for that entire time. I just started it one evening on Bspec and the next evening I came home to my hunk-o-cash and a nice new car. :D

Im not understanding why people would sit in front of their PS2 for 24 hours long playing a racing game. That would get excruciatingly boring to me.

I thought the object was to be in the lead at the the end of that time.

In real life, yes. In GT4 you've still got to cross the finish line.

It is. Of course, that entails doing as many laps as you possibly can.

I have not done a 24 hour race in A-spec yet but a friend of mine has. And what he did was play a couple of hours a day and then put the game on pause. It took him 2 weeks to do it. And yes the PS2 was on and run during that 2 week period.

wow, I couldn't even do that. I would kill myself If I left my machines running for that long on pause.

The idea of a 24-hour race in a computer game is beyond silly.

Well, yeah, it is, but so is the idea of climbing Mount Everest. I keep thinking of Sir Edmund Hillary's answer, when asked "Why climb it?" He said: "Because it is there."

Same thing with running a GT4 24-hour race in A-Spec, I guess. Not this kid, though. B-Spec for me, while I'm asleep and at work...

Why? It is just a computer. I have a server at home that has been on for over 2 YEARS and it keeps humming along just fine. Leaving the PS2 on for a week or two won't hurt it a bit.

As far as the 24 hr races, I've done the Ring in a-spec over 5-6 days and that wasn't too bad. I had a pretty slow car (Mitsubishi Tarmac Rally Car) so it was only 189 laps and enough variety with the long track. A donno about the 2 at Sarthe, though. basically 48 hours on the same track with some of the fastest cars, around 900 laps, half of which have a couple extra chicanes. That could be tough psychologically...

I saw a post once from a guy who said he left his PS2 on for over two years.

A lot of people beat the Super Speedway endurance in GT3 by modding the Escudo to 1800hp, strapping the analog stick up and to the left, and leaving it alone until the race is over. That gives me a chuckle whenever I think about it.

I think a lot of people do that. At least I do. Why shut it off?
The latest ps2s, the thinner versions, don't even have an on/off button, if you hit the reset button on the right for 3 seconds or so, it will kick into standby which still isnt off. Most important thing is to keep it out of direct sunlight and allow air circulation, especially the new ones without fans.

the race is 24 hours on x3 speed (B-spec) it should last 8 hours lets say 10.
turn your ps2 on when you get up. and keep checking it every 10 minutes to change it to x3 spped after a pit.
dont wanna cook my ps2 8hours will be ok

the checkered flag comes out when the leader crosses the finish line on the lap during which the time hits 24:00:00.00. In real life, the race officials throw a white flag when it is clear that the leader will not complete the next lap before time expires. Once this happens, the time on the clock is irrelevant, and whoever makes it back to the finish line first and takes the checkered flag wins.

In the Nurburgring 24 hours I did exactly 200 laps in an M3 GTR race car (stock). On La Sarthe II, I did 423 with the XJR-9 (also stock).

Yes i know this i have finished all the endurance races on A spec.
I was saying the object is not to do as many laps as possible.
As a very extreme example enter a 2CV in the race and do as many laps as possible. Result you have done as many laps as possible but your objective is not complete because you will not have won the race.

all very very tahanksss :dopey: :)
GT4 very hard game  but very beautiful :)
hımm 24 hours real hours,oo my god

but you see, it is still whoever does the MOST complete laps. a CV might just about do 50 laps on the ring in 24 hours, whereas the peskie does 200 and something laps

Not in GT4 it isn't.

If you complete 1000 laps in 24hr but do not cross the finish line, the 2CV can come past you 40 days later and relegate you to second place.

im not too sure. do the other cars not finish after the 24hours are over?? do they just keep going and going??
