Endurance races via online play?

Now that online play has been activated (update 1.01), I wonder could anyone confirm if you can create an endurance race online?

For example can Nürburgring 24h / Circuit de la Sarthe 24h be played for a number of hours, rather than a specific number of laps?

Thanks!

I saw on another thread that there's a trophy for endurance racing, so the offline races must surely be there somewhere. *hopeful look*

But once the online servers come back up, hopefully someone can see if there's an option in there for online endurance.

some ppl are speculating that might be for b-spec.

Well you can create your own lobby, choose for instance La Sarthe or the Nordschleife, set it too 90 laps, set the time, set the weather (and tell if it should behave dynamic or is fixed) and off you go. I didn't see a time-limit, just a lap-limit.

Not sure about multiple (b-spec) drivers though, but then again I havn't spend much time in online mode yet.

Thanks for answering :) It's a shame you can't set a time limit, but 90 laps is still an endurance race. With great lap times I'm sure that'd be over 5 hours on La Sarthe. Truly fantastic news that you can set it to dynamic weather :)

I wonder, does fuel, tire wear, pit stops and such play a part of online races?

Was particularly surprised at the weather, I set it at current time (night) and 'sunny'. But once I got on the mulsanne straight, the wipers went on. And indeed it started to rain at night. Fantastic experience, especially with a lit up cockpit.

Fuel & tires are handled, you can make pitstops as well. When entering the pitlane, the CPU takes over and you'll be promted what you want done. New set of tires, how much extra fuel.

Can't wait to try it myself :)

That's great news about the pit stops too.

I have fond memories of Le Mans 24 on the Dreamcast; me and my brother took turns during a non-stop 24 hour race. That game had a bug though, where the dynamic weather would actually be stuck on one type (so it rained the entire time) and even the clock would go out of sync. Still, fun times.
