Endurance Races

I've made over 5 million credits in the past week.

All I do is when I wake up, I leave my F1 car on any given 24/hour Endurance that it will run, and usually by the next morning. It's done. 👍

That's 1 million credits plus a prize car worth something around that much.

Isn't that funny how they put something in the game that most people don't want to do, but then they provide a way that you don't have to do it?
Exactly.
PD essentially took the Endurance races away from us. Most people seem to be ok with taking the time to do 2-3 hour races, as in GT3, but, beyond that, its just excessive, and pointless. I mean, does going around the same track, on one race, for 8, 9 or 24 hours, really make you THAT much of a better driver? Theres a lot to be said for experience, but, hell you get enough of that with everything else, therfore, beyond 2-3 hours for me, is simply no fun--and it the game DOES have to be fun.
So, now youre left with B-Spec'ing them, and for those moments, turning a Driving Simulation game, into a RPG(Role Playing Game) at 3xspeed. :grumpy:
Turn on PS2>Enter excessive Endurance races>set to Bspec> spend 5 minutes of actual interaction getting a lead>Set speed to 3>Go to the movies and come back when race is completed.
Yeah, thats what I wanted in my GT.:(

B-Spec... real men A-Spec the 24 hour races :)

Trusty drink hat :)
Bowl of food infront of you (well, lots of food)
Drink refills... and a very quick route to the toilet (Used when pitting!)

Simple, don't use an insane car to easily win... try getting 100+ aspec points on it :)

I still don't have the time to do it! I'm hardly ever in my house for 24 continuous hours let alone willing to miss out on sleep/doing things I enjoy to do a mind numbing race.

I can't believe anyone (with a life) would honestly sit down and attempt one of the 24 hour races with a car that might not win.

It's actually not very efficient running the 24hr endurance races to earn credits.

Do the German Touring Car Championship in B-spec x3. You get 15,000 credits for each of the 5 races plus 75,000 for winning the championship. The prize car you win can be sold for about 750,000 credits. That's almost 1 million credits in about 15 min :D.

I just don't know what the big deal is. I value my sleep also and in fact, actually have to work to pay my bills, too.

I don't want to tie up my ps2 on the weekends because I want to race myself. But what I did for the 24hr race was choose a car that is sure to win and then start the enduro in the evening. I spent a little time before crawling into bed watching my b-spec driver at x3 for about half and hour (real-time) and making sure he had the lead. I turned the TV off and then I went to sleep.

In the morning, a quick check confirmed that my car was several laps ahead despite having made many more pit stops. I set it back to x3. After a shower and breakfast, I set it back to x3 and then I went to work.

I work most of the day and I don't know about other people but I'm out of the house for over 8 hours (real-time). I get home and see that I've won and it's still counting down the credits. Job done. Move on. That's all. Hardly any "hassle."

Hardly any "hassle."

Of course it is, it's meant to be a game the fact you had to do all that is ridiculous, wouldn't you rather have sat down for two hours and won the race. It's a stupid idea that detracts from the whole point of the game which is to enjoy it.

I don't see the hassle. I race on Sarthe and the ring all the time. So I chose a car i like to drive to do the 24h of sarthe and the ring. What i did was whenever i wanted to race i would pit in change to A-spec and race. whenever i wanted to go out, i would leave it on b-spec. took me about 19 hours to complete each race. But i actually only did about 2-3 hours of actual racing in each of the endurances :guilty:

That's what I'm doing now on the shorter endurance races. I start in A-spec and race as much as I want (i.e. I start falling asleep at the wheel :scared: )--then I pit and let B-spec finish it. Doing 99 laps of Opera is just not my kind of thing. It may be for other people, so at least there's the option. It's all about options and choices for as many people as possible to maximize profits for Sony :D.

I really don't see the big deal with 24 hour endurance races. I full intend to do them either with some sleep and puase or with a mate of mine who is better at racing than me. If you don't want to race for that long DO NOT DO it. If your someone who HAS to get 100% then use B-Spec ends to a mean. I love the fact that there in there.

I think the best thing about GT games in general is that have options. Its their best feature as far as I'm concerned.

Just my take on the matter.

I hate all these people saying 24hr enduros are a waste of time. On GT write-ups on the 24hr enduro thread there was a real man he done the ring 24 hr in one sit without sleep his name was AE86 Driver he took 15min break every 2hr and thats all. More importantly he ate 96 slim jims and he still doesn't have a heart condision. Now thats a real man.

[rant]Its not the nuremburgring dammit! Its Nurburgring, get it right. Nuremburg was a concentration camp, not a race track.[/rant]

Nuremburg wasn't a concentration camp, it was where the Nazis held huge military processions and festivals, just pointing that out.

As for these 24hr endurance races, my real concern is that my PS2 won't be able to cope with that amount of play. I'm already on my second PS2 after my first one just gave up and died, and don't really plan on buying a third. If I ever get round to doing one of them, I'll probably A-Spec about 4-6 hours and B-Spec the rest with x3 turned on.

*polishes his record for the 100 Laps of Complex String*

im hopeing to do all endurances A-Spec, probably on my own. Not sure if i will sleep or not, will decide that when im doin it.

Been B-Speccing endurance races for a while now, going to win all the cars and cash then resume playing 'properly'.

Feels pointless and I'm shocked that theres so many long races, three at 24 hours, 8, 9 and a couple around 6 that's crazy I can't imagine who has the time for something like that.

For some reason despite doing loads of endurance races my B-spec stats don't seem to be imrproving. My driver isn't doing too great I caught him repeatedly reversing and driving into a wall at one point and he repeatedly makes mistakes at the same points.

Right now B-spec is 7 laps ahead on Suzuka after 102 laps with another 70 to go would take something like 5.5 hours in real time. I still don't get the point of it, for the 24hr I'll have to start it tonight and come back to it after work tomorrow, again devoid of any fun and wasting electricity. I hope for GT5 they re-evaluate.

I plan on starting my endurance races next week. I'm about 30% done and I still have 0 B-spec points. It wasn't planned I'm just having fun getting the feel of the game and the DFP.

I'll mostly likely strive to get 100%. But, If I don't. No big deal. I'll probably A-spec everything. Then I'll learn about B-spec and find more info about getting your drivers skill up.

There are 12 and 24 hour races in real life. I know you don't have breakdowns in GT4. But, you do have lapses in focus and concentration. Many a time when I lost my place on a track and missed a corner.

I wonder if there is any "Special" prize for completeing the endurances ALL in A-spec?

As far as time management goes. There is the "Pause"button. I've done that in lots of PS2 games. Pause it, go to work/play/whatever and then pick up where I left off.

3 hours to go with the N 24hours... B-Spec.. I think it's the only one I'll waste the electricity on to get the F1 cars. There's easier ways to make money and buy the other cars.

Spooky - I was also three hours to go in the same race. Winning by a country mile, and just PRAYING for no power cut.....

Why didnt PD put in a in race save option, that would solve all of this. Personally, i would do the 24 hour races easily, do em when you have the time, enjoy it. DRIVE IT.

The endurance races aren't a bad idea at all, most races in GT4 are max. 15 minutes or so. When you race a 300km or 200 miles race, you really get more respect for real racing drivers, who sometimes drive even longer distances.

I hate B-spec, there's no better driver than myself ( :D ), so I prefer to race myself. I'm on 50.7 % in the game now without a single km in B-spec. And yes I allready did several endurance races.

Well IMO the 24 hour races are fine by me. I don't use B-Spec much but I do for Endurance Races and races I have already completed to get $$$. I start on B-Spec and if I want to put a few laps in I pit and change to A-Spec, it's now big worry. And for you guys who are complaining, PD tried to make this game apeal to a wide audience, some people like the 24 hour races so they added a few. Just B-Spec the races over night, no big deal.
