If you're like me you don't know too many people personally that play Gran Turismo, especially competitively, it makes participating in long endurance racing in shifts with other people not possible. I've always thought it would be incredible fun to get a bunch of friends together and tackle a 24-hour race, so here's where my suggestion comes in; Allow driver swaps during pits with friends playing at home on their consoles/other people in an online lobby.. forming a team of drivers and tackling endurance races in shifts, competing against other teams of drivers. I think that'd be an absolutely terrific feature to add to online endurance racing in Gran Turismo and would add quite a bit more realism.

I don't frequent these forums often and this could very well be something people suggest a few times a week, but if it is a fairly popular feature request could you point me toward a post that's captured a deal of attention?

This is an great idea: Especially when we go to 24 hour racer and when if comes the time to change a driver, you could pit by putting the other driver on track and once you did that, you could retire the race and go into your life. And imagine if an driver would call you to do the lap. Currently in GT6, we can't rejoin the track when the race is ocurring. But I think that PD should let us to rejoin the track without having to quit the race or even do the time trial (the race should be able to continue like normal)... We would need also the ability to hold more than 16 drivers on the track because actually GT6 holds up to 16 drivers... If we get ability to hold more than 16 drivers, it will be usefull to do the rolling starts also.

I think iRacing is working on a feature like this. It would consist of the driver that is ready to get in the car to be online when it is time for them to drive. The reason why it hasn't happened yet is because it is apparently so complicated that this has been development for a couple of years now.

For a console game to have this feature on the next installment of the series would mean so much work that it might not even happen for several years until it has been released.

I thought GT5 had a solution for this...you know, save & quit during pit. Used this when I tackled those 24 hour races - took me like a week to finish one darn race. What fun!! {sarcasm}
