At what point should I perform these services to my car? Also for the high end cars this service is ridiculously expensive does it restore it to a brand new state?

I hope it isn't something that needs to be done every 15,000 miles or so... :grumpy:

Check it after every event, redigity has to be done nearly after every serie and the engine lasts longer.

Engine

Easy to tell, just keep looking at your power rating after every oil change. Once your engine has 'run in' on a new car (200-400 miles), you'll be at 'peak' power, everytime you change your oil the engine should go back to that same power figure. When this peak power figure starts to fall after each oil change, you know it's time for an engine rebuild.

Chassis

More difficult to tell. Different peolpe have different indicaters they use to know when a chassis needs rebuilding. Look out for things like the (driven) wheels spinning in a place where they never used to, or the car spinning or back end 'snapping' in places it never used to.

Obviously, any negative changes to the setup or changes in driving style / speed will have similiar affects too, so you need to be consistent with your driving.

If everything is the same - setup, driving style, corner entry speed, apex speed, throttle etc etc and the cars starts to react when it never used to, this is an indicator that a chassis rebuild maybe due.

But, different people have different opinions on this, this is just mine.

You can lose up to 10% of your engine power if you never perform engine maintenance. I recommend doing chassis maintenance after a couple hours of racing a vehicle. Up to you though...

RE: Chassis

What Highlandor said.

If everything is the same - setup, driving style, corner entry speed, apex speed, throttle etc etc and the cars starts to react when it never used to, this is an indicator that a chassis rebuild maybe due.

When your chassis is messed - you will know it.

Suddenly the car just starts misbehaving compared to its former handling.
I've heard it described as "suddenly it's like it forgets all your tuning".
Cornering becomes unpredictable. Odd unusual oversteer & understeer appears where it hadn't before.

If you don't have these symptoms, don't waste your money, I'd say.

Also, in my experience, these things are FAR more obvious (and appear more quickly) in high end performance cars (ie tuned cars, race cars, super cars), and in antique cars.

As for the engine rebuild... you'd be looking at the HP amount changing/reducing over time.
