Engine sounds..

must agree, the sounds on pgr2 are fricking sweet, especially through my stereo :D ROAWWRRR, you can FEEL it revving mw ahahaha


for some reason this annoys my parents, can't figure why though :)

Yes, but that doesn't mean will have real recordings of engine noise in GT4. PD made an archive of engine sounds for future GT game titles. When the technology of the PS game console improves, then we'll hear real engine sounds.

But, I hear from GT4p players that the engine sounds sound "better." I'm not sure if GT4p had the final version of car engine noise, but we'll see when GT4 finally comes out. I, for one, would love to hear a better quality of engine sounds in GT4, but not at the expense of the other car noises.
 
All I can say is that the AMG SL in GT4 P was exquisite!, i was able to hear the supercharger!....i was amazed, the sounds have been amplified and they sound ALLOT BETER :D, so i wouldnt be worried for the final outcome of GT4 :)
 
All I ask is: make a V8 sound like a V8. Not something that has it stock exhaust.
 
Engine sounds is something really great.... I always open my windows when I follow a great car ( Ferrari, Porsche, Z8...).

Does anyone knows where we can find some kind of database with real car sounds on the web ? would sound sweet if it exists..
 
In GT3 I thought sounds werent too bad though.

But what would be really good is getting rid of that really gay sound when you really tune up a car or for racing cars.

It has some kind of whine when the gearbox engages which was extremely annoying when I wwanted to listen to my Straight Six in my 328Ci (yes laugh if you must:p ).

Also what would be awsome is getting the sounds from inside the car and also outside:) So you can hear what it would be like from outside and what the driver would really hear when hes driving! Nice ay?:cool:
 
I think thats the blowoff valve on the turbo, infact it needs to be amplified for GT4, not much but it needs to be more noticable than it was in GT3. If you don't like it, then dont turbo your cars when possible.
 
yeah they all sounded the same even the F1 cars i think it was pretty sad that you can have a high preformance car that sounds the same as a piice of junk that u just buy for 11,000 creds
 
I reckon not just engine sounds should be considered. What about gear whine? I dont a metal lathe could make a whine louder than a Mini!
 
All the race cars in GT3 got one heck of a gear whine! Just as they should.

Hmm,never had a problem with the engine sounds.I never drove any racing cars so i wouldn't know how they should sound.Anyway,i read they improved the car sounds a little in Prolgue and that's good enough for me.
 
You never drove any of the race cars, why? They are the best cars in the game, faster, more responsive and theres alot of them for you to not drive.
 
Uhm,i think u misunderstood,i never drove any real racing cars.But in the game i think i have drove more than a 1000 miles with every racing car that is available.
 
If you Play Games Like Rallisport Challenge, Pro Race Driver, V Rally 3, They All have that gear whine, but not as clear as gt3...Since its in so many games..i guess it is real.. I read somewhere online that PD Went out and Recorded Almost all engine noises you hear in gt3 except the F1 cars, they didnt even get to drive the f1 cars to gather data, they used data from all the other cars they got an put it together and said it should be just right, i read that in an interview somewhere online a while back. If you play sega Gt 2002, the comaro, Wrx, and many other cars sound like they do in gt3... i've driven a real Integra, they sound like they do in gt3 imo...the mustang sounds deep at low rpms, the fto lm just sounds beautiful...but i guess no game can ever duplicate the sound of a real engine like a movie can, like when you hear a person talking in game you just know its a game, but in a movie, sometimes it fools you...you think someone around you said something so you look(yes i know its surround sound, but you still know the difference between a game and real life, but sometimes get fooled by a movie). i guess we'll just have to wait for next gen systems to get that kind of sound in a game

I think I heard that Polyphony Digital were scouting for cars instead of regular ones. Of course, that is old news, but imagine PD looking to keep car sounds through all different aspects. This is what I heard PD was doing. So imagine taking a Dodge Viper GTS and trying to keep track of the car sounds through all of the gears and stuff. If these rumors are true, we'll see what PD has come up with for GT4.
 
All racing transmissions have that wine, it is from the straight cut gears that they use, so that you can change gears with out using the clutch.Just watch the next time when they show a in car shot at a real race and you will see what I mean.

To be honest i love that whine, i dont know why so many people hate it. i've heard it in so many games, i want to hear it in a real life race....:D

The sound is great but it should be less loud! I found that, in GT3, the ambient noises (wind, tyres, transmission) clouded the engine sound :irked: . However, Prologue appears to not to have these problems, so...GT4 shouldn't :D
 
When your driving fast, the wind noise geneally does make a rackett, I though that effect was good, gave a sense that your car was actually driving against the wind.

No, that is not correct. Here at GTP there is an ignore list. Put cobragt on your list if you are tired of him. You have no right to 'bash' him at all.

It's against the AUP to attack someone, especially when he/she is not here to defend themself.
