Your use of the word "qualification" is really confusing here. :boggled:
By "qualification", you don't actually mean a qualifying time do you?
You actually mean people "registering their interest" don't you?

This wording much better describes what's going on.
For an outsider coming in if they see a suggestion that there's a deadline for posting qualifications, it would be easy to assume this meant a qualifying laptime, and if they posted that within the thread, then you'd doubtless disqualify them for sharing their time before you were posting the results.

Please remember that not everyone on this forum speaks English as a first language, so it may be difficult to follow, or easy to misinterpret the posted information through no fault of their own.
I do speak English as a first language and it's easy to be confused by what's going on.

Here's my interpretation of what the "rules" (or lack thereof) look like at the moment, which is what I gleaned through reading the thread, post #1 and various PMs back & to with ericdemoryGT:

  • A race combo (car / track) can be nominated by anyone.
  • When ericdemoryGT decides that it's a suitable combo to race, he'll post a 24 hour (though not always, see above ;)) warning during which you should "register your interest" by posting in the thread as well.
  • Up to 10 people may compete and only 10 people will be able to submit times for the results table.
  • There is then an indeterminate amount of randomly decided time with no apparent deadline during which to submit a laptime to ericdemoryGT.
  • Your laps do not necessarily have to be free of contact with walls and you should try to stay on track.
  • You may or may not wish to use driving aids, but the car should be unmodifed apart from this.
  • You may ask questions such as "Are we allowed to submit split times?" but you shouldn't expect answers.
  • Races should be run in GT mode, Practice.
  • Some results will appear at a randomly determined time.

You make make appropriate suggestions in the thread and by PM about how to improve the clarity and format of the series, but don't expect anything to be done about it, except sarcastic replies. :sly:
Just calling it like I see it...

Here you go though, as promised a rather poor (shoddy) quality video of my Seattle lap from my digital camera, which gets squiggly lines on it whenever I try to video things on the old 28" CRT TV in the garage.

Hope this helps with your braking points and lines (though I'm sure a Div. 1 alien could probably knock at least another 1s off this lap with even more perfect lines & braking points) CarBastard.

Big help, thanks a lot 👍. I need to find out where all that time came from so it happens (or at least has less oportunities of happening) less often .

I need a camera that can play sound as well. And what is up with the music Smallhorses??? That same music is in your other videos.

All the awful classic soft rock, grungy crap, and diabolical rap music is turned off in my game. :yuck:
The Classical music is the only thing left on, and it seems to begin at the top of the list each time when selecting a background track for a replay.

Dude. I can't believe you replaced your post with my interpretation of the (lack of) rules.
Have you actually read how vague it actually sounds? I was making fun of the situation in an attempt to encourage you to make changes.

I was actually trying to get you to think for yourself and set some real clear rules.
If anyone now reads post #1 they're likely to run away!

 I'm out.
I can't deal with the vagueness of this whole endeavour. 👎
I've asked numerous questions over the past week, none of which have been addressed. 👎
There's no knowing when we're supposed to have a Nurb' lap available. 👎
It takes searching through 8 pages of thread for a new entrant to even determine what's currently going on. 👎

One of your "rules" now states that if you ask questions, you shouldn't expect them to be answered. This just smacks of laziness on the part of the organiser and isn't likely to encourage new competitors to join.

If you can't be bothered, why should I?

Quoted for truth.
See what I mean now? Another batch of suggestions, another sarcastic response.

Instead of being lazy, typing a 1 or 2 line post everywhere you can find to post in :gtplanet:, 5 or 10 minutes spent in here formulating a set of clear rules that're easy to follow for everyone would be sooooooooo much more productive, and yet despite all the information you've been offered, it's made to seem like "too much hard work" and you want someone else to do it for you, at which point it's therefore no longer your series or your concept.

Yeah, I'm out too, is it ok if I do something similar with arcade mode?

The rules are very difficult to understand,
I'm running this by the normal OLR clean rules.
GT mode/practice S2's no driving aids.

The current Car/track combo isn't the easiest to drive fast and at the same time stay on the track.
Some luck is needed to stay on the road for a whole lap. :nervous:

MadMax

car/track combo = A chosen car and a chosen track for the time trial.

Yes, but he's not asking what car/track combo means.

You're getting loads of confused posts because your posts, and "rules", don't make any sense, yet you don't seem to care to do anything about it. If you don't care about your own contest, then why should others?

Go and look at some successful copetitions and look at their rules, and how the organiser conducts himself, and learn from them. 💡
