Here's a new one. Today I have been getting the entry list but I'm not on it. It locks on that screen and I have to restart. And about a third of the time it locks on the start screen before I actually go inside the car.

I've never had this many problems online, even when I had a crappy internet connection.

It sucks the unholy **** of satan etc.

I want my Suzuka 800pp frenzy back. So much so, I didnt mind not winning! It was more fun to take part.

Now if your lucky to get a game, it's 5 players or no quit spectator mode. It needs sorting NOW!

Yeah I've had that one a few times too, as well as a sort of spectator mode where you just see panning shots of the track and sometimes I will be stuck on the grid with the front bumper view. Whenever I get any of these problems I have to restart the game, PD has obviously screwed something up but why haven't they resolved the problem yet? It’s been going on for over a month now!

I have the same problem, very enoying. It's only a few days since I bought PS3 Slim and I was hooked on the online racing instantly. But then I had a really hard time connecting due to the well described "Lost connection to host"-problem. Beeing a newbee on this, isn't there anywere you can report this?:grumpy:

I have given up totally. There is no point in waisting precious electricity trying to get a race in on GT5P. As with all online games, when the next one comes out or is about to come out there is always a dip in connection and online gameplay with others. But in this case it is just down right retarted. Maybe its time to call it a day for GT5P and just find something else to occupy my need of speed not Need For Speed.

For all still trying......good luck to you all.

it is very buggy. the gt5p manual explains how the connection system works and how hosting is done.

Yeah it explains how the connection and hosting system works, but that was for GT5P Spec I. We are now on Spec III and for a while there was nothing wrong with the connection other than the occasional failed to connect to host. But now it is just not worth trying anymore.

I think it has something to do with PD now testing GT5 online especially now that they have more time to put damage in the game and anything else that they deem to be realistic. PD should at least try to this on a different server because there will be people who are going to buy GT5P just to see what GT is all about and just playing the game mode for me is not enough because the AI is too easy and not very smart.:dunce:

Well I'm going to buy GTPSP on Sat just so I can start to build up my collection of cars to transfer to GT5.👍

Have you all forwarded the ports for GT5 on your routers? I think when the host hasn't got his ports forwarded, that is when it fails. When I am the host it never fails. Might have something to do with it ;)

Again tonight 3 🤬 hours to have one 5 lap race around Suzuka. What 🤬 is that. This is just pathetic. 👎 👎 👎 👎

Connection errors, I hadn't noticed

Sort it out PD, or GT5 will be a big disappointment 👎

I tried to connect to JvM and mr_Geez tonight, untold amount of errors and failed connections at Suz 550PP. Really dreadful. Didn't get into the same race as mr_Geez even once in an hour and a half of trying.

All the best
Maz

Found this which may be of interest. Up until a few months ago, I always seemed to be in races using the star network where the host could DC and drop everyone. Now it seems we are using exclusively the mesh type which, reading the description, would account for the nonsense we've been enduring.

Hi guys, I think I solved the problem
In the last coupple of months I had problem to connect,I got in every 10th time. Yesterday I was erasing my block list and it took me quite a while. It was a long list, because in the last year and a half there were many people driving unfair...So after I had erased my block list, everything was working jst fine. It took me to conclusion that maybe server can't connect me and the people on my block list (host).
P.S. Maybe you have to wait one day after erasing block list, till the dates are updated on the server.

Block list is nothing to do with the game. It's for blocking messages on you PS3 from people you don't want messages from.

Setwave, are you writing this as an expert (professional) or are you just blab?
Because I have tested a 50 times today and never got message "failed to host". So it must be the block list. Or a funny coincidence

Call me Sir Blabalot. I would need 50 other members to confirm the same effect before i believed it, is that scientific enough for you lol?

Here I go again !! :dopey:

I have been reporting this issue for at least 6 months. I have spent over $600 trying to fix the problem .... new modem, new router, new PS3, new Interent provider package, new hard wired connection and 2 visits to my home by a paid professional IT expert. I have tried everything anyone has ever suggested (dozens of things) and all to no avail. Trust me, it has absolutely nothing to do with your "Blocked List". I have never had anyone on my block list and I have tried creating a completely new account with no one on a block list. I tried a brand new PS3 with no one on the blocked list. Again, it has nothing to do with the "Blocked List" !! Several pleas to Sony for help have met with the usual replies with the standard links to the FAQ boards on how to make a wired or wireless connection, with no real attempt to understand or recognize the true nature of the problem.

There are absolutely no issues with my connection. I have 100% success in making online connections for races in the 6 other racing games that I have that support online racing. I have no problems with signing on or downloading anything from anywhere. I have verified my connection speed at over 3Gb/sec. (if I remember correctly). The only problem I have ever had is with Prologue exclusively. My success rate in matching with Prologue was 100% since launch day of the game and then 6 months ago, I just started having the "Failed to connect to host" error about 80% of the time, without any changes to my system at my end. After the error message, I try rematching and sometimes after 3 or 4 attempts, I would get into the room and then go another 4 or 5 times of failing to connect. I have sat there in my Playseat for 2 hours and got to race maybe 2 races ..... needless to say, I quit playing Prologue altogether.

The worst part of this problem is the complete lack of regard from PD and Sony for not recognizing that this issue even exists. It seems obvious to me that they simply don't care :grumpy: I have reported this several times on the PS Forums, GTPlanet and at least 3 emails to Sony thru their "No Help Desk" 👎

The responses from Sony, as stated, all did nothing to address or recognize the actual situation. All the responses simply included links to the FAQ list for making a wireless and wired connection and the link explaining how to enable Upnp, along with a "boiler plate" apology saying that they are sorry that I am having this difficulty.

This evening, I deleted all my Prologue data and game save (which included my garage with 68 Ferrari F2007's) and started again from the very beginning. It took me 4 hours to work my way thru C, B & A which opened up quick tune and Expert online events. I now have 10 cars instead of 150. I made it into 5 races on 8 attempts, with 3 "Failed to connect to host" errors so I don't think that it actually fixed the problem.

See post below refering to time ..........

The success rate of 5 races in 8 attempts (see above) was after midnight till around 2:30am EST. Also, I might add, there was only 1 other racer in 4 of the successful attempts and 2 others in the other single race.

I hope Sony realizes that their lack of customer recognition and service will, in the long run, affect their retail sales of all Sony products. I just recently upgraded my living room TV to a 52" 240Hz, LCD TV and I chose a Samsung over the Sony simply because I don't feel like Sony cares about it's customers anymore.

Oh, well at least you had some various challenges to do lol.
i have now concluded the reason is just network traffic for this game. I have had serious repeated failed games over the last 3 days from 8pm GMT to 11pmGMT but from 11pm GMT onwards every game works perfectly with a successful match/join 1st time every time.
So i suggest you try late at night after 11pm your local time, and try the converted time of 11pm GMT for your region.

I can attest to ANFD trying everything in search of a solution.

On NTSC matching is pretty good lately unless you have a larger group trying to match than the race can hold; in that case PSN seems confused on what to do with the overflow or splitting.

I wonder what the solution is from sony's point of view?
If it was a game problem an update would have fixed it by now, so maybe down to resources/server issues. Unless there will be a GT5P update soon.

I have wanted to race since the last update, but have been getting this problem over and over and over again... I use to NEVER have this when I was playing in the prime days of GT5:P... and it happens most when I want to connect to Fuji expert races.... I have now completely stopped playing because its really annoying... it already takes quite long to connect to a race and when you have 90% "failed to connect to host" it gets to the point where you just want to destroy everything around you in rage... well atleast I do.. :) So to avoid that situation I havent put it in anymore and luckily I have other games like MW2 :sly: to keep me busy, BUT its still a shame... I really wanted to race again...

Well I'm very upset to hear that many of you are still having the same problem as I. I have'nt been on GT5P for about a month and a half, occasionaly trying to see if it would load and to no surprise got the same thing.

As there is a lot of speculation as to what GT5 will have in the game may be a result of them testing certain features (that may or may not be in the game) on the same server as GT5P. If so they have not told us and no one really knows what is going on with it. For those of you who have not been able to connect it maybe due to your Location. I dont know if this is happening to anyone that is NTSC but it is definately affecting PAL users but not all.

So what is next?? Well I say just grit your teeth for a few more months and go back to Two Player with a friend just like the old days with previous GT's, or play something that is worth while at the moment so that your not waisting Electricity just to have come up on your screen Cannot Connect To Host.

I suggest playing GTPSP as it is very good and much more fun I have heard when played in AD-HOC Mode. There is a thread that shows you how to set that up which I think would be Ideal.

Good Luck everyone.

I believe that the problems all began when PD did their 'server maintenance'.

They changed the way that we connect for races. It used to be a Star Network and now they have changed it to a Fully Connected Network or Mesh Network.

In the past, all racers connected to one PS3 that was the designated Host. The problem was that if the Host quit the race, the race ended for everybody. By changing to a fully connected network they removed this problem. If the host quits, another Ps3 just takes over as Host.

So now we must connect to many PS3's, if you have a slow ping and you can't connect to all the other PS3's in time, you get the dreaded 'fail to connect' message or you get stuck in limbo and your PS3 freezes up and you are left in spectator mode.

This would also explain why we don't get large fields anymore. If you are lucky enough to get into a race, there are only a small number of other cars. (The ones that were lucky enough to get all the connections made in time)

In my case, I have the fastest connection speed my provider has and it has been verified. My ping rate in the 6 other racing games I compete online in is at a maximum indicated level. I never have a problem EVER connecting in those 6 games.

Update from my post yesterday .....

This afternoon, I went online to race again. I got into a few more races than I had been, but still had as many as 3 "Failed to connects" in a row. Probably matched in maybe 50% of the attempts (6 races in 12 attempts). This is not taking into account the numerous "Unsuccessful Matching" boxes I got simply due to the expected low availability of opponents. Five of the six races had only one opponent while the sixth had two .... not a very fun afternoon, all things considered.

I think it's safe to say that deleting the game data and game saves and starting completely from scratch is NOT the answer !

For some reason this seems to make perfect sense to me :) Im going to try and hardwire my PS3 since Ive been running the PS3 wireless ever since I got it... The different network setup they have now might not be wireless-friendly.. :)
