Basically, I was just about to do the EHHL, and so I checked the requirements.

Ok, non modified cars. I had no cars on the list, but I did have a fully modded Clio V6, pushing around 440bhp. So, I go to my garage, and jump in. Back to the race screen. I knew the "non-modified" text only would flash red, but I wanted to see if this particular model of clio was acceptable.

It was. But, this clio was allowed entry. Even though it said non-modified, it was allowed entry, when this clio basically is modified.

It doesnt seem like any of the other cars in it are though, as the clio is walking it.

Any ideas why?

Sounds like a cool "feature" to me!

I think "non-modified" actually means that no race cars are allowed. Any road car, even if it's tuned, is allowed in. I haven't tested this with tuner cars.

If that were the case, it would say "Production Cars Only" instead of "non-modified".

It actually is just like jammyozzy said. The "non-modified" means standard production cars, but not tuned, concept or race cars.

I have had this before too, i cant remember what race i was doing but it was in the professional hall (cant remember the hall name, is the middle difficulty one) and i tryed to enter my fully tuned SLR into it i saw the requirements and was going to change my car but pushed the accept button rather than cancel and it le me race, as mentioned aboue i think it must mean race cars are not allowed.

Well it doesn't say production only on mine. I'm running PAL. On mine, it states "non modified cars only"

And, in the previous non-modified races, other modified cars have not been allowed IIRC.

Really? That's pretty amazing. I had no idea there was a difference there.

But maybe not so amazing when you think about all the other PAL-versus-NTSC differences we've heard about. Sounds like you really have found some sort of glitch, then.

My apologies -

It says UNMODIFIED CARS ONLY.
Unmodified cars are race cars, so when it say 'UNMODIFIED CARS ONLY' then it means no race cars. In GT4, Modified cars are non-preduction models of cars. This is an simple summary of what it said in the Offical Guide. ;)

It's the same in my pal version. I had a really hard time and couln't keep up with the leader.

So I asked here what car everyone else used and they were all like... "Fully modded ClioSport"... etc.

I was like WTF? But I went and tried it and it worked!

Thanx a lot for your answer, I get it now :)

Anyway, I think you meant : Unmodified cars ARE NOT race cars. Cos otherwise the above sentence didn't make sense ;)

When the game says "non-modified", it means only production cars. That means no race cars, rally cars, tuner cars like the Nismo 350Z, and other cars like that.

But it was tuned, that's his point.
Well I said tuned, but I meant the cars you can buy from the Tuner village. Maybe they should be called TUNED (standard) and TUNER (from the Tuner village) to avoid confusion.

My point exactly :) I just saw a few people refer to them as "tuned", when I knew they meant "tuner". Just trying to clear up any possible confusion :)

I also wonder why that race won't allow an M Coupe...

not only that... sometimes when you finally find a decent car to enter that championship, you race against a M Coupe :dunce:

In summary

Un-modified cars Only
Not a glitch, just very badly worded for the PAL release, the US release with 'Production Cars Only' is much clearer. But as has been said this means:
No Race or Rally cars
No cars from the Tuner Village
No Concept cars

BMW M Coupe
Is a glitch, one that allows the AI to use a car that does not meet the allowed cars for the series, the same as the Cien in the Supercars series.

And all this grief to get a Volvo!

The only thing that could be worse than finding out you win the Volvo as a prize car.
Buying one from the used car lot in Yellow with 10 kms on it.

LOLLERZ! the yellow brick almost got me! i was browsing around the lots last night when i saw it i was like WTF!!!!!!!

I think I will tune mine up and see if its a A spec points machine.
Mines a nice 'brick red' color. I did win it.
Truth be told this is a fun series, pity the prize car is such a disapointment and only worth 3 K. Why not a clasic Hot Hatch.
If PD had a sense of humor the volvo would be driven by a blonde Swedish lady with large .............
