Any players of EVE-online? (www.eve-online.com)

I just started a few days ago on a 14days trial. i'm really digging this game. Fun and relax to play. Can do combat or plenty of other things which are awesome.

Graphics are cool as well, although most of the game is spent in chat windows and market shares...

I've only played that game through the 14 day trials. I must have done those trials at least 4 times. Haha. It really is a cool game. I had a blast playing it. I might give it another go sometime. ;)

egh....EVE is cool but u have to P2P....i dont like downloading demos cuzz sometimes they cheat u...plus why play a spaceship fighter game that u have to pay for when u can play something thats similar(but better in some ways) and is free....im talking about a game called space cowboy....AMAZING game if u like EVE ud like SCO.

heres a vid

well this game seems more about Piloting then it is about raging war on a large-scale system. This 'space cowboy' game looks like a dogfighter more then a simulator (X-wing vs Tie Fighter comes to mind). Its all good in itself, but its totally different then EvE-Online, really.

I mean, EVE-online's combat scale is enourmous and scary... with a completle and stable economy system, as well as full in-game clan management and support from the developers (not saying all these are not included in SC)...

But look at the cheer size of space ships differences (the m*ther ****ing big ones are called TITANs and you can't get them in less then a year of gaming... at this time, there are only rumours of 1 that no one's seen yet).

I mean... geezuss...

Please dont say 'mother****ing'.

Quoting a mod, 'swear filters are there for a reason, please dont try to get around them'.

I know that you censored the 'u', which I always used to do, but the mods seem to find that unacceptable.

Hope you get this before a mod warns you.

DAM.....that last one cud EAT anubis and horros...(sco motherships)...dont get me wrong but the ships in EVE are kinda.....rockish looking.....they just look like big floating rocks......i watched an EVE vid and the wars in it are very similar to SPACE wars in SCO.....unfortubatley in SCO u must be at least lvl 50 to go to space....ive been there once in a mission that goes wrong when i was lvl 25.....and space looks quite similar....yes SCo is very much about dogfighting but at times it can turn into an EVE warzone depending on the location......if u reply then ill explain what SCO is about and maybe u can tell me about EVE

Well, once I get my new rig together, I plan to get this game.. so, any fresh reviews or other players here?

I'm approaching the end of the trial, and I'm pretty sure I will buy more time for the game. This far, I've only gotten up to cruisers since bigger ship skills can't be trained on trial accounts :irked: and recently, I lost my 5.5 million ISK Rupture-cruiser that had at least 3 million ISK worth of fitted weaponry, shielding etc.. :ouch:

well, I bit the bullet and got meself months worth of gaming time.. seeing that I got all the way to Minmatar battlecruiser in just ~20 days, this should get bme to a wee bit bigger ships. :trouble: Pirates will be blasted to oblivion!

I've for longer wanted to try out EVE online as I love space war games. I play Sins of a Solar Empire myself a lot, but seeing 1Gb RAM is the minimum, which I just have, I doubt I'll be able to play this game. Once I get my hands on a better laptop, I might give it a try though 👍

It's playing just fine with my comp, which has mere 512mb RAM.. :dopey: it slows down occasionally, but not too often.

1 outdated Cyclone-class battlecruiser versus three waves ( 30+ ships) of mercenaries/pirates. fun fun fun. :D after my 5x650mm medium artillery cannons and 3x heavy missile launchers had finished, there were 30+ wrecks to be searched for loot.:trouble: boy oh boy. I got more from the loots than from the agent that gave me the mission. win-win situation anyway  :D

Sounds like a blast!

I just started a paying account: Caldari with < 300,000 skill points as of now, but I should be able to pilot a Ferox or Drake by the end of tomorrow. Hopefully then, I can start some PVP in .4 or .3 areas. I've only been in a LoSec once, and got jumped instantly, they popped my shields before I could warp back out :nervous:

Do NOT go to the low sec areas before you know how to make a proper shield or armor tank. google some guides for that. it won't be cheap, but will hurt your wallet less than buying new ship.. again.. and again.

Yeah, even now with some of the epic arc missions I'm finding it hard to take the DPS from 8-10 of those stupid drones. I figure I will be playing for a while, so no need rushing out and getting my ship(s) ganked. I think the key to success in any facet would be to find an appropriate corporation. Finding one that wants a member with less than 1,000,000 skill points is not all that easy, though.

What you need is to figure out how to make your shields last longer. Drake is especially good ship for that, and I'm planning to make Drake my main ship once I can afford to get one and fit it properly. My Cyclone isn't too bad, but it is really difficult to create a suitable fit for it. either I can have my medium cannons and heavy missile launchers and ~13k of shields that will last a while, or then I have to switch from the missile launchers to rocket launchers and have better shields that reload/tank faster, depending of the low/medium slot fittings.. auuugh, choices, choices! gotta love the micro-tweaking like this.

Haha, just for that I've found that EFT is my favorite tool, ever... I don't have to waste the extra ISK to find out what kind of setups will or will not work.

yeah, you just have to develop the skills etc.. and once you've finished making the fit, you will faint after seeing the final price of the fit.. the last effort I made ended up being around 4 million ISK. which is when I startet to think about upgrading to better ship that can deliver the promised performance and more.

it is expensive when one doesn't have time or strenght left to play the missions after work. :P well, I need to get my learning skill to lvl 5, cruiser skill to lvl 4 and then I can concentrate on the battleship skill.. shouldn't take more than a week.

oh, how wrong I was.. I still don't have battleship, but I've lost few ships. :ouch: now I'm rocking passive tank Drake, and even that has had some close calls.:scared: then again, I've been going against pirate fleets who had Tech II ships..

Haha I'm in the same boat. Passive fitted drake setting at around 80k EHP (according to EFT, not the in game ehp figures). I can tank every L3 there is, and can tank a couple of the lower quality L4's, but have to Kite the rest of them. I need at least T2 resists for those or just some T2 invuls.

I've decided to stray a little bit from the "OMG HUGE SHIP" route a little bit, though. Literally today I've finished training for stealth bombers, and now I'm just working on skilling out fits for them. I plan on going with the Manticore and a bomb+target painting+dampening fit, mainly because 18000 is a huge number for the alpha strike and should be able to down at least most cruisers with the alpha and one volly (just enough time for them to not lock and blow my paper-bag tank out the water). Plus, Stealth Bombers and relatively cheep for T2 ships.

I did end up finding a good corp. It was just 4 members strong when I joined up with them, and with a little bit of help from everyone, we're now up to around 15-17 active players. We're even thinking of putting up a POS in wormhole space or Hisec. We mainly fly the Lonetrek region, right now, but we like to pull a couple raids on neighboring territories. If you haven't gotten in a corp yet, by the way, we're always recruiting. We've got a couple members that fly freighters/other caps and a couple of dedicated industrialists and traders. For being so small, we're not really doing too bad, as we've got enough to do just about everything... maybe not in the same scale as someone like the GOONs or AAA, but we're still growing.

yeah, I need to do some work with shield skills etc.. or get a battleship that hits hard and from far away :trouble:

So, the new Dominion-expansion has been out for over a week now. I've found it to be good, but it also shows me how badly I need to finish up my new comp. Good news is that my new MoBo arrived, so it's down to arrival of power unit and hard drive.. and after the year has changed, a new 22" screen. After that I should be able to play games without issues for the next 6+n years..

Whats your current specs? I only ask because I've been tempted to download it and play a trial of it. My computer use to run this pretty well but that was before that graphics expansion pack that came out last year I think.
