So I was taking a shower this morning, and you know start thinking deeply and a crazy idea came to my mind.
What if we had a event similar to the seasonal events drift trials, but with a bit more restrictions (such as cars, or pp, this kinda stuff to avoid the speed 12 spam), where we would simply drift the track on the offline mode, and send our results as reply. The ones with the biggest score win.
A event for the whole weekend, every week a new track/car selection, and the best part every week would be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places

I think it would be a good idea for having some friendly competition between the drifters of GTP without timezone problems or full rooms since we all gonna drift offline for score and send our entries.
And at the same having a good chance to get a new car (nothing special, i'm thinking about replica cars from other GTP users as prizes.)

So let me know what you guys think? If you think it might work out then i edit this thread on Friday with all the event details, or create a new one.
Sorry if i'm posting on the wrong section or if anyone did it already, i couldn't find any kind of thread similar to this around.

Most people do not really drift for points in this part of the forums. I wouldn't mind trying it, but how will you know if the persons score is legit? What makes someone say hey I got 100,000 points and now that person wins a free car.

Well, on the submission you should took a picture of our screen after all who doesn't own a camera nowdays?
On the screen it should show the final score + all the sectors would be good enough as submission.

And based on all players submissions we can have an idea of what is legit and what not
For example let's say in Rome everyone is doing between 3000-5000 points, but then someone show up with 10,000 points, this would look very suspicious and the player should prove the score is legit by uploading a video of his/her race
Otherwise the player is disqualified.

And of course if people want to record their races is fine as well, but only the screen could do if the score is not very suspicious.

True, but like I said this might take awhile to catch wind before it gets popular. Drifting for points is something most people do not do because the points system is flawed. If you go over 90 degrees of angle you lose points, which is silly. I will try to talk some people into it for you, but I do not know if this will get big. 👍

Photoshop? Have a look at the Drift cars pic (any thread for that matter) thread, those guys can do anything with Photoshop! A better method of proof would be a video, or raw replay file, it's far too easy to shop a pic compared to a video!

I like the idea though, it would be a nice community competition but like Eric said though, most of these guys don't drift for points so it might be a little tougher to find people. Reason being that the drifting scoring system sucks, big time, so people stay away from it as it doesn't give an accurate score of the drift.

2.09 supposedly fixed the scoring, I haven't tried for myself though.

Cool, thanks
Hope some people get into it, seems like a good idea to kill the boredom on weekends.

Cool idea I wouldn't mind giving it a try. But like Eric said you lose points if you go over 85 degrees plus which I get my points going to 0 a lot because of this. I have also been been thinking of a few things I will explain later.

I'll keep the video proof in mind, after all is not too hard to point a camera to the TV and record some videos.

This friday I'll start the event for the weekend and see if people actually get interested in it, if so I can keep up doing it weekly.

It's only the top 3 people that would need to provide proof, this way you know the guy at the top actually got those scores.

As for video, some people here have PVRs and some use video cameras (phones etc.), you could also export a replay to your PS3 then post it here as an attachment, someone (you) would be an official and load the replay up on their PS3 with GT5 and check it out!

Edit, I just tried an offline drift trial and it wasn't all that bad compared to before, you don't loose your points right away if you go up to 90 degrees, it just stops counting for a bit, if you continue (or pass) to carry that same angle, it stops. It has a bit of a delay now before dropping your score to zero.

Bluntified

Than it hasn't changed at all

I find a bit of a change, I just did the last corner of Autumn Ring Mini Reverse, that corner you usually hit 90 degrees or over, I hit it and my points stayed, it didn't reset right away like it did before.

Not counting them at 90 is what I am saying not dropping them

This seems like a really good idea :o I wouldn't mind giving it a try... Long as the tracks included some GT classics like Trial Mtn. and such. But yea, lets get this thing to take off! I'm of no influence on GTP but I'll gladly participate, even if im going against myself
