Ever Wanted To Name Your Kid After a Famous Person?

I have a funny story about this....

one of my friends was such a hardcore Formula 1 fan that he wanted to name his son after either Gilles Villeneuve or René Arnoux, two rivals from the late 1970s and early 1980s, but his wife said no.

Have you guys ever had that urge to do something like that?
 
I went to lengths to make sure I didn't do that when my 2 boys were born.

My wife works in the ER and last year had two patients come in on the same night named Alan Jackson and Sawyer Brown. They were both less than 5 years old.
 
I named my kid after alcohol, does that count?
 
A friend's dad named him Ayrton after Ayrton Senna (duh! :dunce:). Probably, if I ever have a child, I will name him after all almighty John Locke 👍
 
Once when I had a fever, I got the strange idea that I'd name my child Anus.

BTW, my kids have 'yuppie-like unusual' names which is the reason why our dog's name is "Bob."
 
Yeah famous people are so much better than regular people anyway.
 
You know, I love the name Isosceles. If I had a kid, I would name him Isosceles. Isosceles Kramer.
 
If I have a boy, I'd like to name him Zeus... but my wife has put a stop to any such notion :(
 
Ive always liked the name Angus..
 
My cousin is called James Brown, but his mum was completely oblivious to it.

And my sister and I are in a race to see who gets to call their child Iolo, after the TV presenter Iolo Williams.

Someone obviously had that very idea. Too bad they didn't consider that the kid would have to live with it for the rest of his life!

It means "hunter", so yeah, it'd be a great name. Rolls nicely off the tongue, too.

I'm kinda traditional, and as such wouldn't even think of naming one of my kids after a celebrity, but rather give them Scandinavian royal names. And I'd probably also throw in "Marie" somewhere if I had a girl. Family tradition, see.

It's valid. I've heard of people named Hunter, and I'm sure there are Germans named Jäger.
 
I met someone the other day whose name was Recycle, yes you read it correctly. I have also met a Galaxy (male), Hercules (thinnest bloke I have ever met), Canon and ordered KFC from a girl called Fishball. There is also a tendency to mix names here e.g. Davin (David + Gavin) and the quite presposterous Fredward (I'll leave that one to you to work out!)

I mock, but my name is not so clever. I'm named after the little to unknown F1 driver Rupert Keegan.
 
That reminds me, one of my female Hong Kong-ians' English name is Coco.

i don't think that's just a Hong Kong thing. One of my mum's friends used to work as a nurse out in Kenya in the 60's. The locals there also used to name their kids after random English words and even changed their own surnames to sound more English. She dealt with a Wellington Kepepwei, a Ginger Pencil and a Jam Sponge :lol:
