I'm not a pro on drag racing, neither I consider me a veteran, I'm more like novice here. Thanks to this forum, I'm getting better at tuning for 1/4 Indy. I have been beaten countless times, and have learn from each one of them.

All that said, here's my concern, ultimately, every time I beat someone that consider him or herself a good 1/4 tuner they bring out like four cars just to beat me, when that doesn't work, they gave the excuse of lagging "oh my connection is bad got to leave" someone said. Come on people, we all learn from our mistakes, in this case beatings.

When I lose, I lose, but when I win it's unfair to use the lagging excuse t o quit. Anybody share my opinion in this?  cheers.

Lol haha well its the excuse for every game just have to prove your point by winning over and over..complete dominance...but guys like that are mostly noobs but the pros know when its a lost and its a win..so just leave the children to play with the children..

People have issues with losing and make excuses when they do...so yeah just beat them multiple times and leave it at that....

No it's not an excuse, it's a serious issue. I've noticed this more though.

+1 I think it's more of an excuse then an issue. Since PD has been improving the Connections to the lobby and rooms.

It know it can be. I've been in rooms where every single time my opponent will have just a small edge in the launch. But I race him in another room and we launch evenly. The room doesn't even have to be glitchy.

its an excuse if you keep losing..and remember in drag in real life there is barely an even launch dragging is not based upon even launches...but even so if yall cant get a even launch or a launch close to even then maybe need to check your tunes

the only issue with lag would be the launch, if you launch at the same time and still win it's not lag at all, and sometimes it's not even lag, they're just not quick off the launch

I believe I have run into this a few times. Not the person losing complaining of lag, but witnessing it myself. Sometimes i will be racing and my opponent will not have left the line until I have made it 3 or 4 carlengths down the track. I'm not sure if their reaction time is that slow or they're experiencing lag/connection issues. Either way I usually abandon my run and return to the line to restart just to get an even start. Or sometimes we will just go ahead and finish the run and I will try to line up against them again for the next go.

Of course lagging will affect, and small amount of lag is occuring all the time. How do we fix that, well, we cant do anything, PD needs to implement those features i have listed in several other threads. "my connections is bad" - well fix your connection then, we all know that we have to open ports on router, give ps3 static ip, and run thru wire, not wireless. If people fail to follow these guidelines, then its not much to do.

Were did I say I was losing?

Hehe the only thing I did was give it a static IP lol.

4, 5 races...... Different trees (ghosts)!!!! and when losing they use that excuse? PD it's not bad, people excuses are. Maybe some night you got a connection problem but not always. Saying you loose because of "lag" is mostly a bad excuse. I don't say it when I loose, I congratulate them saying good tune, I live by nice sportsmanship even in real life.

Latency can be the differance between winning or loosing, the person that lives closest to the ghost will have a advantage in reaction, just common knowledge. I assume the both players have as good reaction. Easy math, 0,25s reaction time + 0.1s latency = 0.35, 0.25s reaction +0.2s latency = 0.45s.....thats why we need individual timer, so the latency doesnt matter.

its a known issue

it depends who is treeing and the location. definitely more noticeable when the cars are tuned alike and the racers have good reaction time. you can tell there is tree lag

I agree that it's an issue. If two people line up 1 being Australian like me and the other bein American, if an American tree's of course the other American will see him first there server's are very close. If You want a fair run with a Australian and a American get a guy from the UK to tree. And all of the pro SSR7 tuners will tell You that.

Exactly different ghosts and numbers..but if your tune isnt showing any signs of winning then yea retune your car simple as that...hopefully all of our cries for at least a real tree and timer in drag racing on gt5 will come to life (which I doubt) in the new dlc and spec 2.0

Well, even if tree and proper timing comes, it depends on how its implemented, otherwise we will have the same talk going around. We have to manny skilled tuners in gt5, thats why everyone is picky, like me. No body can bs us again, like they tried to do in the beginning. Even some of the pro tuners a couple of moths ago were unaware of this timing/tree issues. I recon I was one of the first that noticed this timing issue, thats why i got kicked from alot of rooms in the beginning.

What if a guy simply has a bad connection? You can go by different trees, but he'll always have lag. Doesn't make his tunes bad.
Who says that PD is guilty? That's not true, the physic is.

Question:
Example SSR7, Enzo
Guess what difference 0.042seconds make (in metres)

Answer: exactly one car length

When you get a bad connection you get kicked out, like you did to me 2 nights ago when I was laging lol.

And the answer, I was guessing a car or car and a half, but you answer it.

NOT TRUE! I wasn't host in the last 2 days and I haven't kicked a single person in that time.

You where running with iwinyoulooze on gt 40 no stripe, you write "hey Perti ur lagging" and puff, anyway that doesn't mean a thing, ohh and your Enzo it awesome. You can share with me on pm lol.

I was there and I don't think he was ever host. Sometimes you get an error that says "You have been kicked" when really no one kicked you. Rare, but I've personally had it happen.

BTW, good runs slump, if you got anymore cars, don't hesitate to throw me a PM 👍

Finally! Good to see that some people can notice these things and others with good connections that think they are all that are realising they aren't and it's all to do with their net speed. What you have stated above is correct but I would not say that getting someone from the UK to call between AUS and US is a good idea, trust me, the connection speeds us aussies have will not match up for some years yet, until we get fibre all over we have to deal with this problem.

I am probably the most experienced person when it comes to this, as i'm Aussie for one, I was the fastest aussie on a certain other game until cheaters arose, and I was also the fastest in the world for a few classes on that other game for some time. The game I speak of is FM3. Yes, in FM3 there was a tree and whatnot but in FM2 this was not the case and calling go's was the norm. I very quickly noticed the lag issue after running identical tunes against friends from the US and it was apparent no matter what I did, the lag screwed me. It has nothing to do with the game, it has nothing to do with the PS3 either, it is simply how good your internet speed is. There were people on the other game that were known to be incredibly fast and this was soon found to be due to their location ie: people in Arizona seemed to have incredible line speed therefore they would launch much faster than almost everyone else.

I had my internet speed upgraded to the best I could get and the difference was noticable. Very few Aussies I raced against could match reaction times after that. I have given drag tuning a go in this game but after seeing that the lag is still an issue and not wanting to go through the whole garbage of people from a certain country of 50 states talking trash non-stop not realising that lag was helping them, I bided my time back on FM2 only racing and tuning with my Aussie friends (of which there were very few) and international friends that knew and seen the issue themself, knowning that when FM3 came around there would be legitimate times posted. It's a shame that there will probably never be a multiplayer drag setup on GT5 so I guess the best we can hope for is an LA strip with leaderboards or something similar.

there is a big update coming in the next few weeks, maybe they will listen.

they know fm4 is coming out so i am sure they want to keep current gt5 players busy or prevent them from jumping ship

there is a long list of requests, one of them is better drag racing or the lack there off.

The bottom of that long list is where you'll probably find drag racing i'm afraid as, in the bigger scheme of things dragging is a very small fish.

Verry true, but the internet speed by itself wont help you much, since most of the players have at least 8mbit which is enough i guess. Its the latency that is the problem. But if you are lagging and your car is glithing around, that can be due to many stuff, which are listed in previous threads. Both players can have 100/100mbit connection, running thru wire, static ip etc, but the one thats closer to the ghost will have advantage, no rocket science. It hardly matters how much data you can transfer per second, its how long it takes for the data to reach there. But yes, if you have like 2/0.3mbit and you upgrade to like 30/10mbit you will probably have better online performance i guess. It also has to do with your router, and the router settings.

i hope so but gran turismo never been a drag type of game...but all of these forums and requests and followers on twitter thats urging kaz to put some type of drag mode on might help us out a little (maybe even alot)
