Hi guys
Recently I've started to tune up cars in my garage that I haven't finished yet and decided to buy a new Mitsubishi Evo VIII and build a track day version of it.
All Evos we know come with a AYC controller as standard or it can be replaced with an LSD.
Is it worth buying the LSD? Or is it just better to increase the AYC? (I've always thought the AYC was better but I'm not sure).
All opinions are welcome (but no stupid comments please).

The LSD gives you so many more options in terms of tuning, the AYC just interferes and makes the car feel unnatural. You end up trying to tune out the negative AYC characteristics rather than tuning the car to be faster or more fun to drive. IRL the system works well, in game it just feels like glitchy traction control

I've used it with great success in the game, I can easily adjust the amount of yaw rotation on throttle with positive feedback from the car. Its very fun to toss the car into the corners and power through apex with AYC. My personal choice on Evos is to use the AYC and tune the on throttle rotation with it, I've not had to deal with any negative AYC characteristics, its actually much easier to tune compared to the LSD, with much less chance of a poor set up causing negative characteristics.

The LSD may not be as easy to tune but its far more versatile if you know what you are doing. AYC also gets a bit confused once you go past about 450bhp whereas an LSD can be adapted.

The fastest car is always the one that you feel most comfortable driving, personally I prefer a more direct mechanical response rather having to fit my driving style to how the cars systems want me to drive it. 👍

Different strokes for different folks

The AYC is great in my 550 to 600pp Sport Tire Evos. I only have one car under 500pp, a Miata Spec Roadster. Everything else is over 500, my preffered zone being the 550 to 600pp range.

Maybe we should swap tunes and see what the other guy is feeling, as with most everything, its how the settings all work together, and how the driver drives. I'm extremely aggressive with my Evos because of the AYC and I drive them in a way I believe uses AYC to its advantage. I "toss the car" into the corner hard and aggressive and hammer the throttle through apex with high conviction, the amount of AYC controlled yaw while hammering the trottle is a character exclusive to Evos that I very much like. Throw on a LSD and well its just another turbo 4banger AWD not that there is anything wrong with that, I just like how the AYC feels and works with my tuning/driving style.

Sure, I'd be happy to swap tunes.

You state a model, PP and tyres (no racing tyres please) and I will build a car to suit.

I'm game :D yeah, racing tires are for dedicated racing cars in my eyes.

Let's go with a Evo X at 550pp on Sport Medium Tires. I'm choosing this car so I can do a fresh Tune.
Cool, message me your tune when its ready to save cluttering up this thread 👍

I'm gonna split my choice, over 500PP give me a LSD, I can tune it work with the tune needed for that kind of speed, below 450PP I'll take a AYC it's just simple and works really well at that level. 450-500 depends on the car set up, track or rally etc.

I think chatting up AYC is not really clutter, but useful info for those interested in the topic, plus what better to have in the thread then a couple examples using both options for people to try.

I agree the AYC IRL is great as it allows the car to handle any track any day of the week on just about any tire. Based on the reviews I've seen on it it starts having issues when you go off road.
It gets a 4WD to turn like it's a MR drive and takes 1 or 2 seconds off a lap time effectivly pumping up the preforumace of the car to a level that normaly requires you to spend another 20k USD to get.
