Hi there,

I am currently running the Suzuka 1000km (driving the '97 Tom's Supra) and it has been raining for about 2 laps now. I stopped in the pits and swapped my racing hards for racing wets. The problem is that the tires wear out after about a lap and half...what the heck is going on? Should I have adjusted my LSD prior to entering the race? I was in first place by about 1:50 and I've dropped to 4th (behind about 48 seconds) within 2 laps. I hate to start over because I've already got about 2 1/2 hours into the race. Any advice?

Apologies for the double post (the second amateur mistake I've made tonight). I guess I learned the hard way, but I think I should be able to make up the time seeing as I'm on lap 85/172. Thank you for the information!

I believe that I've made an amateur's mistake...I neglected the "track wetness" indicator in the top left under current position; it reads 0% (DOH!). I suppose rain tires wear out very quickly on a dry/warm track? Is this also true in real life? I'm still curious as to why they wear out so fast...

Correct you are, rain tires are made extremely soft so that they can get the most grip.
But the rain cools them down, so when you run them in the dry they are done in a couple of laps. Just like in real life.
And welcome to GTPlanet!
(Edit your post instead of double posting next time)

Ack, wetness gauge.
They should let you judge how wet the track is, look at it before the race and use experience to determine which tires should go on.

I would switch to inters around 35-50% and stay on them unless your blowing there doors in than I would swith to full wets. Unless your one of those people that does not care for a challenge.
