Did you douche bags even watch the hole vid?? the only time there was traffic with me was in the first spot I went too....... And yes, I've spun out in that area before. People around here are really cool in that they aren't retarded as they apparently are in your area's. They just stop.....and I know how to spin in my lane.....and if someone pulls out in front of me while I'm sideways they're the dumbasses for it, not me.
Yes I did watch the whole video and the fact that you were drifting at all when traffic was around is the problem, the lack of traffic later on does not in anyway change that at all. Nor does it change the fact that you admitted to drifting in traffic, I quote...
So the streets are my only option. I keep in my lane when their are any cars in site though and try not to do it next to/close to them. Though I must admitt, sometimes I'll go for a blast at my usual spots in rush hour and can't resist showing off some sideways......can't imagine what that'd look like from their perspective..... lol.
...so the lack of traffic later on really does not make up for the self admited behaviour.
And how is drifting like that anymore dangerous than anything else anyways?? When there's cars around I'm in my lane, not speeding, not, running lights or signs, I am by all means obiding by the law except for careless driving which I think is stupid, and it's not any more dangerous than going through a light that just turned green. It's just using the rear wheels to steer instead of the fronts. And it's very very easy. And when i'm learning an area like that I make absolutely certain nobody is around. I only drift were I can be seen when I am 100% positive that nothing will go wrong. You can ask any of my friends.... I'm a scardy cat about things like that. I have to scope out the area, wait for the right moment, feel good about it, or I won't do it. If one thing seems sketchy or dangerous to me, I will not do it. There is nothing dangerous in that video I posted that I can see. Though I will admitt there are some blind turns on that touge.... but at 4:00am on a rainy night = no traffic at all and I know that road perfect and I never went across the double yellow, so it doesn't matter anyways..
Its as dangerous as almost anything you can do on the open road, you are deliberately pushing your car beyond the limits of its rear grip. That is not a point for discussion, its a point of fact. To compound the problem you then state (and I have highlighted in bold) that you are 100% positive nothing will go wrong.
Care to explain how you can be 100% positive nothing can go wrong? Because I don't believe you, when a car is involved you can't say that, in fact later in the post you contradict yourself on this point by using the example that just driving to the shops contains an element of risk. Well if that's true (and it is) then how much are you increasing that but when you deliberately push a car beyond it traction limits???
And I never went above 50mph in that whole vid. I was usually below 30mph. Nobody is ever going to get hurt in such a low speed collision. Speed is what kills. The worst damage I could do is spinning out and hitting a curb = damaged wheel/suspension or maybe if some retard pulled out in front of me or forgot how to use the brakes for 30 seconds straight after I possibly spun out some minor car damage like a bumper or a door and agian, suspension damage because you loose speed when you spin out.
Have you ever seen the results of a 30mph crash test? Because I have on a number of occasions and its messy, 30mph is enough to cause terminal damage in most cars.
That's the result of a 40mph frontal impact to a BMW 5-series ('98), now imagine if you hit someone who is also doing 30mph (as you claim you are) the combined velocity of 60mph is going to make that picture look like a day dream. Basically you could kiss your legs goodbye if you are lucky.
BTW - Speed is not the main cause of accidents (or fatal accidents), the DfT in the UK published a report in 2004, one of the largest of its kind and the results were as follows
Contributory factor in RTAs
* Inattention: 25.8%
* Failure to judge other person's path or speed: 22.6%
* Looked but did not see: 19.7%
* Behaviour: careless/thoughtless/reckless: 18.4%
* Failed to look: 16.3%
* Lack of judgement of own path: 13.7%
* Excessive speed: 12.5%
You actions seem to fall into both the Behaviour and Lack of Judgement areas, and by the way speed here is determined as speed excessive for the conditions (not just the speed limit) an area you could also be argued to have fallen into, given that the car was at times sideways.
Its also quite amazing that you state that if you spin out and someone else hits you then they are at fault, I honestly do not think that the law would judge it in quite the same way, and your insurance company certainly would not.
You see, I laugh at you guys when you post like this......alot actually. You just don't get it and you never will. I almost posted this yesterday but decided not too cause it'll just start a pointless war.........and what is it good for?? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
***SNIP***
You guy's need to think outside the box. Do you know how dangerous it is just getting in your car to go to the grocery store a block away?? I've almost been nailed pulling out of my driveway so many times it's stupid. (I live on a blind crest) I don't speed where their are driveways around or intersections because that really is stupid and dangerous. I'm done with this thread now. Flame all you want. I'm not checking it again......
If your not checking in again then why bother posting at all?
However for your information I personally have no issue with a spirited drive on empty back-roads, but that's one hell of a long way from deliberately putting a car sideways with other traffic around.
I get driving (I've certainly been 'getting' it a lot longer than you have) and love driving and take it very seriously, a tonne plus of metal is quite simply a lethal weapon and should you take the choice to push the limits of the car then you are responsible for that, but what you are doing is purposely exceeding the limits of a car, with other traffic around, and then claiming that you have everything 100% under control. I get that as well, its called naive stupidity.
