Are we alone in the universe? This is a question the modern man has asked himself for ages. Is it possible that out of all the galaxies in our universe our one, single, solitary planet is the only this that contains life? I don’t believe so, I feel that there almost has to be some other source of intelligent life in the universe. It would almost seem ludicrous not to believe that throughout all that space there is no other life.
In theory the universe is infinite, it’s not for sure if it is, but it is pretty widely accept that the cosmos have no end. This means that that must be an infinite amount of space with an infinite amount of galaxies filling that space. Therefore you have pretty much an infinite possibility to find life in our universe due to the vast area one has to look.
With in this immeasurable universe there has to be some sort of life. I mean us, as humans, have found fossilized bacteria from Mars and we have a pretty good inclination that there may be life on one of the many moons of Jupiter. Sure it is just bacteria but is it not living? This proves that there might be, and once was, life on other planets.
Humans, mostly Americans, have been exploring space for only 50 years, which in the grand scheme of things is a blink of the eye. So who are we to say that life on other worlds never happened. Beings could have occupied other worlds millions of years ago? We can’t really say that, because frankly we just don’t know. There could be fossilized creatures on other planets from the past, but we just don’t have the means to get to these worlds and start archeological exploration.
One would ask how there could be life on planets that aren’t like Earth. Humans seem to be to narrow minded on this thought, we seem to think other beings would need oxygen to breath, water to drink, and some sort of non extreme temperature to be able to survive. This may not be the case though, other life forms could live in other conditions then we, as humans, are used to. Theoretically an “alien” could breathe methane, use some sort of gas to keep themselves hydrated, and be able to survive in temperatures in the 200 degree range. So humans can’t just assume that other life forms will be just like the human species.
Evidence that suggest there might have been “aliens” in the past, even just a few thousand years ago, is shown through the ancient world. The Egyptians, the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Greeks, any of the big ancient civilizations they all have things that seem like they could be from other worlds.
The Egyptians are pretty much the best example I can give. They had this immense technological society, with the pyramids, the Sphinx, all this stuff that seems almost surreal for that period of time. The pyramids were not only built to perfect trigonometry, but they were built to line up with different objects in the night sky. Some of the hieroglyphics suggest that they were visited by creatures from other worlds, possibly the Egyptian’s gods, and there are even some glyphs that show modern looking machines, such as a helicopter. Is this stuff all a coincidence? I don’t think so, there just seems to be too much that falls into place to make it a coincidence.
Now with life in the universe I’ve been solely talking about one and only one universe. However, I would like to introduce the thought of a multi-verse, which is another widely accepted theory in the scientific community. Now to put it in simple terms there are an infinite number of universes which make up something called a multi-verse (many universes put together).
In these other universes there could also be life, and since each universe is infinitely large and there are an infinite number of them, this increases the odds for having other life greatly. In all these different universes there almost has to be something else because you are looking at odds that go up against infinity multiplied by infinity, which equates to infinity squared.
With all these possibility the odds are that there is life somewhere out there. In fact as I’ve stated they are infinity square to one for life in the universe, one can’t get better odds then that. But think of it this way, if Earth is the only place in the galaxy, the universe, or in the multi-verse, all of this would be a pretty big waste of space.
