Does anyone have any tips for beating the daytona track for the nascar series. Honestly, if the AI doesn't spin me out that would be fine, I get to lap 8/9 usually in third or second place as I am aware the race is about drafting until the last corner.

People mention turn of ASM or ABS, although ASM is on by default and is grayed out so i cannot change is and ABS can be se no lower than 1, hence i cannot turn is off!

Any tips for a man who by now hates left hand turns lol :sly:

You can delete game data and turn ABS off, then reinstall game data. Be sure to back it up before doing this, because after I reinstalled everything I got the stupid thing saying the file is too big.

And it was VERY STUPID of PD to patch that. Seriously???

I kind of fought dirty on this one, which is unusual for me. I drafted, blocked and pushed cars coming up on the sides of me. Try turning off all the driving aids that can be turned off, if you haven't already.

This s the 10-lap race right?
The way I did it was:

Stay behind the pack untill you're in the last lap.
Then draft all the way to first place.
Might have to start clawing your way up second to last lap though..

Staying behind the pack is much more relaxing, and you don't get a DQ for 'ramming' people (although I have to say those idiots always pit-manouvred ME!)

Took me 3 tries to get #1 place this way, but the ASM is a killer.
Good luck !

I hated this event with a passion. The drafting effect is way too exaggerated, plus the AI drivers have some kind of super SRF. Your best best is to stick around 2nd or 3rd, then use the draft to pass the leader after the last corner. Don't be afraid to drive dirty either. I actually made the pass too early, so when he came up on my right to pass me again, I ran him into the wall. Fortunately I was lucky enough that I crossed the finish line just before the cars coming up on the left could pass me.

3 tries.. Took me a good 15 times. They always spin me at the finishline.

My advice? Get first place in the other four races of the championship and when you get to Daytona, just skip it. 99% of the time you will still win the championship, and the trophy, and the prize car. This is even more helpful in B-spec. Only reason you'd ever want to go back and do it is for the gold standard trophy.

Outside view of the car is useful, as you get a far clearer idea of where each car is, especially on the corners of your back bumper, but as previously said, stay out of the pack, as it will not go well, and the drafting on GT5 is amazing, use it late in the race.
