Extremis Style: Sentry, Indication of a Film Debut?

If we compare this trilogy to the Nolan-Batman trilogy, I think the Iron Man films have all been consistently good. Whereas personally for me the Dark Knight Rises is pretty poor.
I think I'm basically trying to say that I was not disappointed with these films and that is an achievement these days!

I'd agree if the first two Iron Man movies weren't so forgettable to me. I vaguely remember the bad guys in both, and obviously Downy Jr. puts in an admirable performance, but I never felt half as invested in the movies as any of the Nolan films, or the Avengers for that matter.

That said, saw it tonight (in IMAX), and enjoyed it, as you said; it's a very entertaining movie. Pearce is fantastic, and I'm glad he's in more movies recently, and so long as you don't think too much about the holes, it's good fun. The effects, of course, are fantastic, specifically anything dealing with the house demolition. It gets the season off on the right step, and managed to hold it's own, IMO, in a post-Avengers MCU.

So, uh... will ole' Shellhead take a more desk-job-type role in Avengers 2? Maybe even off-screen? That ending's "oh, simple surgery removes the major sticking point I had the last two movies" bit felt incredibly shoehorned in.
 
He doesn't need the Arc Reactor anymore. He has a modified Extremis injection now.

And, not to mention, he can simply use it as an external power source now.
 
...if you know anything about the comics, the extremis in this movie is a bit cartoonish in presentation, rather than the seriousness of the actual comic which is pretty dark.

Unless it's just referring to the overall comic plot?_?
 
The only thing I remember about Iron Man 2 is Mickey Rourke's disgusting clubbed toenails.

Lucky you, Iron Man 2 was so poor that I don't have much faith that the 3rd one will wash away the bad taste that IM2 left in my memories. I still don't know what was worse, Mickey Rourke Russian accent or Sam Rockwell overall acting.

I believe it was just "creating the demons part". Aside from that, it would look weird if we saw Terrance as Rhody since we have Don playing that part.

Had a lot of fun watching IM3. Growing up on Shane Black movies obviously helped, but I think people behind Iron Man franchise made a great decision to give him the directorial duties.

Now only thing left is to forget once and for all about the second one.

I can definitely understand the disappointment there, especially after having it built up so much. It struck me by surprise as well. However, the portrayal was entirely accurate to the Ultimate Iron Man's Mandarin - which was a fictional character. I'm not saying that makes it better nor am I saying I liked it, but there was rhythm to it's reasoning.

What are some comics that you recommend to brush up on the character? I was one of the lucky ones who was ****** at how he was handled as well. Seeing as how I never read the Ultimate Iron Man comic beyond its first five or so issues, it grinds my gears to have no basis on how good the film really is without some basis on the villain.

Read uhh... Avengers vs. New Ultimates that takes place in the Ultimate universe. I actually mistook the interpretation; it's still correct but it's not Ultimate Iron Man, it's that. It's a real short piece but you'll get the idea.

Be happy the Ultimate IM version wasn't adopted. That would have stunk.

This finally came to the Plaza 1 and 2 cheap theater for only $3.50 so we watched it Saturday.

It was actually a lot better than I expected. Overall the action and CGI were quite impressive. Especially everything new he was doing with the suits.

Really loved how the suit was able to warp to his body piece by piece. Even better how he was able to "send" the suit to other people like Pepper Potts. I also like how he was able to control the suits via remote. A lot of great features in this movie for sure.

However, some parts were terrible. I really did not care for the "fire exploding and fire breathing" enemies. I realize it was probably from the comic book but I found that type of enemy extremely cheesy compared to the first 2 movies. These were really a bit ridiculous. Also didn't care for the entire scene where The Mandarin was actually just an "actor". That was beyond terrible. On top of that Tony Stark breaking down and being able to come back to normal by speaking to the kid was out there too. Again I am sure this is in the comic books. Also didn't care for the after credits scene. Very bland.

Other than those complaints this was a very good movie. I still find the first Iron Man to be one of my favorite but IM3 is right up there for sure. Glad I finally watched it. The special effects were really impressive in this one. Some of the action scenes were just so awesome. 👍
 
I have watched so many movies but the movie which I love to watch again and again is Iron man 3 because this is full of actions. While reading the forum post I found this topic so I immediately jumped in and express my opinion about the movie. Thank you so much for your great work.
 
Yes, I've resurrected this thread but despite the OP this is no longer about Iron Man 3, at least not explicitly.

As we're all aware Iron Man 3 introduced Extremis and utilized it in a way not at all similar to its actual nature in the Extremis mini-series (that's not entirely true at all, it's just the actual visual is so much different than the one created from reading the book) , but this isn't about that either; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is slowly covering that ground, but what if there's something more to all of this?

I'll continue to adhere to this theory until Marvel explicitly rules otherwise, but what if they're planning the include Sentry in a future Avengers film?

Who's Sentry you ask?

He's one of the newer superheroes in the Marvel universe, first introduced nearly 14 years ago in his titular mini-series that was apart of Marvel Knights 2000, and has the power of "one million exploding suns" derived from a serum 100,000x stronger than the original used on Captain America - now do you see where this is going?

Instead of having the serum modified with Weapon X, it could be modified with Extremis. However, while I would love to see Sentry make a film debut, the problem becomes where would he fit?
