Im curious to find out how many of my fellow GTP users have glasses or other forms of sight enhancing things. :)

I usually wear contacts so I picked contacts for myself being that its once in a blue moon I wear my glasses.

Also for fun ill let you all know im blind. Because my prescription calls for about -8.X in both eyes.

I don't know the strength of my glasses but they are a lot stronger than regular glasses(I let one of my friends wear them and he said he could see the wall up close, a wall that is 15-20ft away).

Contacts.

I wear them almost all the time, hardly anyone knows I wear glasses lol

-4.25 distance with a 0.5 bifocal.

Nikon (I think?) lenses in Mykita Norman frames:

Focus Night & Day contacts. Put them in at the beginning of the month and take them out at the end. I've been using them for about the last 8 years. Awesome.

Edit: I do have a pair of glasses (Izod 379, not that anyone cares) that I hardly ever wear. We had money left over at the end of the year in a flex account - use it or lose it.

I've worn glasses since grade school and I've gotten used to them. I've never tried contacts, but then I don't like how I look without glasses. I prefer wearing glasses as an accessory. Eventually I'll probably have to get LASIK surgery though because I've always gotten progressively more near-sighted as time has gone on, and now I'm much worse than my dad while being 1/3 his age. If I'm going to be a pilot my eyesight needs to be correctable to nearly perfect.

Glasses for all my life, can't do a thing about it. I had Glaucoma at birth, and also, my doctors suggested I was hit in my left eye in the womb (possibly by my sister), detaching my left lense, making me almost blind in that eye. I have 20/200 vision, so my right lense is 2x thicker than the left one.

Contacts here, I need to get some new glasses and use them at night.

I've got 20/20 vision in both eyes. My dad and brother both needed glasses at very young ages, but I must have inherited my mom's eyes. She is 58 and doesn't even need glasses to read with yet.

If my eyesight ever does go, I'd wear glasses though, I can't stand the thought of putting contacts in my eye and the infections that can come with it if you're not careful.

the infections that can come with it if you're not careful.
I'm not the least bit careful (short of washing rinsing off my hands) and have never had any issues.

^ I'm seeing double! (at Max Powers)

Glasses from age 6 and had contacts for a while but because I've got stupid wonky eyes (astigmatism) I can't have the awesome leave in lenses so the ones I get are uncomfortable as hell so I now just wear glasses. Time for rant...I'm currently wearing an 8 year old pair of glasses with scratched lenses because I foolishly cleaned my current glasses causing them to snap in half! I won't get my new glasses until Wednesday because it takes a week and a half for them to get my lenses in due to the wonky eyes :grumpy:

p.s. anyone ever tried to take their contact lenses out when they're drunk but nearly removed their retina because they had already taken them out?

From when I was born, I've had a slight lazy eye, and my mom used glasses to fix it. Well, it didn't work, but it turns out I've got 20/20 vision in that eye anyway. I don't wear glasses any more.

My brother has had two already, he must be even less careful than you. Either way, I'll still go with glasses if I ever require vision enhancement.

I am pretty badly colorblind, but I think I'd rather deal with that than glasses/contacts.

That's another good reason for me to never want contacts.

I've got these

I've had glasses for a long time. But then again it is in my family. Both my aunts have/had them my dad has them my sister has them etc.
But I got used to them.

I use glasses/contacts but I'm considering surgery to fix them, I'm unsure about it though as I have perfect acuity with glasses/lenses anyway, and I'm definitely the type of person that can notice if some thing's off if the surgery doesn't fully correct my short sightedness.

I used Glasses for about a year and a half before trying contact lenses. I have been using contacts ever since, they're great. My eyesight is gradually getting worse though.

Poking yourself in the eye twice a day is fun. I've not once managed to forget to take them out on a night, even when i'm so drunk that I pass out. My contacts always end up back in their container :scared:

I would never try eye surgery. A friend of mine had a complication with hers. The surgery went well and everything, but the vision in one of her eyes deteriorated over the months following the operation. She now wears a contact in one eye :indiff: Eye surgery the first time around is pretty simple. The second time around though, it can cause real problems with your vision in the long term, so she decided not to have it done again, despite it being offered to her free of charge.

Continuous wear lenses are your friend. 👍

...and I'm still the only person with good eyesight, weird.

I've arrived to keep you company  20/20 vision as well. My entire family enjoys good eyesight. My wife wears contacts and if my eyesight ever deteriorates, I certainly couldn't do it, I would have to wear glasses. She looses them inside her eye a little too frequently and that freaks me out.

Been wearing glasses since I was 3 years old and on it for 13 years already... I once considering to wear a Contact Lense but I don't know, something just keep me away from it. I'm short signtened and having an astigmatism.

Now all my family member wear glasses... Ouch.

I am quite surprised at how many people just do glasses. :p

More chat since everone is talking about wear too...
I have only gotten 1 serious infection and that was with my astigmatism eye. But it was kinda fun since they put that yellow fluid in your eye and you get to blow yellow out of your nose for the rest of the day....

But other then that i usually wear my contact in till they get blurry or hurt my eyes, and even then its nothing that saline wouldn't fix...

Heres what I use:

I have worn contacts since I was about 21 (glasses from 19 til then)
I wear daily lenses which is handy if I forget to take them out when I go to bed. I'll just take them out where I am and doesn't matter where they land :). I used to use the extended wear onces but I can only manage about 3 days before they my eyes feel gritty.

As I get older I need my prescription is getting stronger for distance which then plays havoc with my close up vision (without lenses I can see perfectly close up) so I am currently mixing up the strengths in each eye. -2.25 in my right (which is my dominant eye) and -1.5 astigmatism lense in the left which gives me sort of OK distance vision and doesn't mess up the close up too much. They tried me on a lower prescription in the left to get better close up but it made me feel sort of disorientated.

p.s. anyone ever tried to take their contact lenses out when they're drunk but nearly removed their retina because they had already taken them out?

Done it drunk and sober. Have also put a lense that had been soaking in peroxide straight into my eye without rinsing - ouch!!!

I have a pair of glasses. They're wire-rimmed, but I don't wear them that much. I should probably get back into the habit; my eyesight has degraded since I first got them six years ago. I only just failed the eyesight test when going for my learner's licence, and I had to get them custom made (the right lens had to be specially crafted because the amount of focus I needed from it was lower than anything they had in stock). I noticed the other day in class that I needed them.

I wear glasses, bifocals ones too. I'm pretty blind with out my glasses, I'm like a -7 something on top and a +1.25 on the bottom for reading.

Need to get more frames soon, as I'm not a big fan of contacts.

I really dig the black frames 👍 where'd you get them? I want them, i've got horn-rimmed glasses now but if I do any sort of physical activity they slide down my nose and get close to falling off. i need nosepads 👍 but like the thicker, rectangular glasses

I've been wearing glasses since the age of 8 (that's 24 years), however after much faffing about with trialling contact lenses, I discovered that I can wear one specific brand of daily disposables and have been doing so for "special" occasions for the past 6 or so years. Having astigmatism in both eyes means needing toric contacts, unfortunately these are both expensive and less widely available.
