As many of you have noticed, Codemasters now have a license to make F1 2009. The previous developer, who made F1 Championship Edition, made a superb game and many are hoping Codemasters can do the same.

At the moment, at least 350 people are working on this game as we speak. But will it be a success?

I'll try and update you with the latest information. There is a thread called 'Codemasters aquire F1 license' which I suggest you read if you don't know it already.

This is taken from the official Codemasters website:

We’ve secured the exclusive rights to make games based on the world’s biggest motorsport series - FORMULA 1!

Building on the success of Race Driver: GRID and Colin McRae DiRT, Codemasters Studios is leading the design and development of the games, across multiple formats, using a new evolution of the fantastic EGO™ Engine technology. The first game’s expected to launch in 2009, and will feature all the Grand Prix circuits, teams, cars, and driver likenesses from that season.

It will be developed on the same engine as DiRT and GRID- so what's your opinion on that?

Yeah, I know...but that isn't going to be updated with news about the actual game.

But there is a sub forum for the F1 game franchise and this thread, not to confuse anybody, should be moved to it.

Well i am loving Grid, and nothing else has been in my ps3 since i got it, especially loving the open wheeler events, so maybe they can do a good thing for F1. Here's hoping.

BTW i was a huge pessimist about Grid before it came out, but now i have played it, i just think it's really fun and all of the ideas are executed well. F1CE is excellent, and i know i will always play it, but it will be at the least interesting to see what they can do.
