May I suggest to anyone who is chomping at the bit to get GT5/P & contemplating buying the JPN version as well as the NA version: save your money & get F1:CE (if you don't have it already) - it's a great game, especially now it has FFB - & wait 'til the non JPN version of GT5/P comes out.

too late for me .. i got the japanese version. altho i have few extra bucks laying around, im saving up for GTA4, MGS4, and KZ2.

Yeah, we all followed your desperate quest - I'm just trying to save others from the trauma. ;)

While it may not be for the Motorstorm or Burnout crowd, F1:CE is an excellent game for anyone seriously interested in racing sims. Believe me, it will keep you occupied until the English-language version of GT5/P comes out, whenever that may be...

I just patched F1 yesterday. FFB with F1:CE is nice. Fast and intense F1 racing. This is a really good game next to GT5. Real life F1 tracks.

make a video of FFB haha
or just tell us how it is compared to GT5P and other sim racing games :)
cuz i remeber how bad it is in DIRT.. really really bad..

F1: CE is awesome, it's why I bought my PS3 so early. I was planning on waiting longer, for better games to come out.

FFB in F1:CE is pretty good - perhaps not as good as in GT4, but pretty good. It's a much more limited experience than GT4 - F1 cars on F1 tracks - but as an intense racing experience it can't be beat (the mediocre reviews are way wide of the mark). Anyone who enjoys racing sims & owns a PS3 should pick this up & forget about GT5/P until the English version is out.

As Ive probably said before I would get this game in a flash if it was based on last years season but I suppose eveyone wishes that.... Ive bought GT5P anway.

I'l wait to see the next F1 game and if its done by EA I WONT be buying it!

I have both, so far I have played GT5P about 1000x more, I don't like F1:CE that much.

The Japanese version of GT5P has me plenty occupied until the US version comes out.

When F1:CE came out, it was reviewed as not having appeal to the "casual" racer. I've been wanting to rent it before I bought it, but my local video retailer STILL has not gotten it.

I would honestly say that if you're not Japanese & you're buying GT5P JPN (+ GT5P US), you don't qualify as a "casual racer" - you're a certifiable "racing nut"!

Hence you owe it to yourself to try F1:CE.

I see my self as more of a "car nut" (road cars mostly) rather than a "racing nut", which is why I much prefer GT5P over F1:CE because I like the cars and driving first and the racing second.

I also have both..... i didn't play F1 that much... but revisited it recently and tried the suzuka track to get a comparison to gt5p.... i was surprised at how much i did like it..... sun effects are good... it's feels very fast obviously driving an f1 car around.....

then i put gt5p on straight after and it really really made me realise just how bloody good it is  much much smoother, clearer.... and although you are driving slower just more engaging... and more fun.. the clarity in 1080p is just amazing.... it's easy to get used to it and forget just how good it is..

I honestly can't wait for the full blown gt5.... :)

on my 4th season of f1:CE racing as ferrari's #1 driver and running 50% race distance. Heaps of fun that game but the physics for when it rains are hopeless aswell as pitting when it starts to rain. I normally quit the race if its raining as its pointless.

Good idea.
I'm going to have to try that test. After the FFB patch I raced some F1 courses and it was return to speed. FUN. Still a great game for racing.
I will have to see how Suzuka Circuit plays like and then compare it to GT5.

love F1 CE. Medium difficulty is to easy hard is about right. I do 100% race distance. Sends your eyes funny though lol. When the rain commeth start again u aint got a hope in hell.

I would agree that F1:CE is more of a "racing" game & less of a "driving" game.

Now that we have FFB, F1:CE is better than ever. No question that GT5P graphics are far superior, but F1:CE graphics are very good & I have to say that I find the racing much more exciting than GT4 or the GT5P demo. Driving the Suzuka GT5P demo after running it in F1:CE is like watching paint dry: there's nothing like taking the Dunlop corner at eye-popping full speed in an F1 car. 👍 It certainly does take a while to adjust to F1:CE because of the extreme speed & handling characteristics of the cars.

Anyway, I'm not knocking GT5P - I'm looking forward to getting it when the US version releases - I'm just saying that F1:CE was very underrated by most "official" reviewers (as you can see by looking at the "user ratings") & is a very worthwhile purchase for any serious console racing fan: IMO certainly a better investment than 2 versions of GT5P.

I just got it, and the ai suck, it's no different to when studio liverpool were called psygnosis with F1 97 or 98, on ps1, I got the n64 one over it can't remember the name just the advert " let's see that again "

I'm glad sony have lost the sole rights to the f1 franchise, GP5 is waiting to be made.

I don't know, but for a game that is not the newest in the world, the AI is acceptable. The AI avoids collisions but if you are laid across the track in monaco, no AI should be allowed to NOT smoke you.

I think the F1 CE AI is very good, esp. after playign GT4 for like what...4 years?

my two cents... as car nut & sim fanatic (major F1 fan, go Alonso), I played F1CE since it's debut. Only game I had till now, as of last week I got JPN Prologue. Offline F1CE was a 'sim' with all aids turned off. However, online with people 'assisting', (steering assist, brake assist,ABS,ESC,etc.) purists like me got smoked... As a result you had lap times MSC couldn't achieve! It was marketed to a wide demographic, but until it MAKES you drive like a Pro I won't be back. I'll be playing my 'true' love, GT5p.
