It took me ages to find a copy of this game even secondhand. The prices on evilbay were pushing almost new game prices for secondhand copies. I grabbed the only copy available in my city and had to drive across town to one of the game stores to get it..... Liverpool Studios could have been making quite a bit of extra $$$ if it was freely available new because there seems to be a decent market for it still.

I haven't played it as much as I have GT5P but I really enjoy F1CE. It gives me a great break from GT and a whole new racing experience. One of the previous posts nailed it on the head for me - GT5P is about the driving, F1CE is about the racing.

I love the sounds, the graphics are great, the patch improves the handling and I just really enjoy the game for what it is - an immersive alternative to GT. Okay, the season is three years ago, you can't save the game mid-race if you are doing a full length GP (the old fingers get a bit sore on the controller - no wheel for me), but it is really good fun. Online was a bit of a disappointment to me. I don't have that much experience of any type of online racing but this type of game (open wheelers) really needs smooth online opposition rather than the jaggy opposition drivers you get onscreen (why is GT5P like this too?).

I like F1CE alot because I don't load it up thinking it is a pure driving sim to rival GT5P. But gee it's good fun and well worth its money, new or secondhand. Now to try Ferrari Challenge.

As to Codemasters getting the rights to make the new F1 games - firstly, Liverpool Studios have improved their games to the point where they make good ones IMO, whereas Codies have gone backwards. Colin McRae DIRT was absolute tripe and a travesty that sullies the name of the first Colin McRae Rally games (my copy, bought in error, has been sitting on the floor collecting dust it is such a disappointment). THEN they announce there will be no F1 game this year. Perhaps Codies and Polyphony will vie for the most delayed release........?

Fully agree with this. Studio Liverpool with each new F1 game were constantly improving it. In comparison codemasters seem to be going more & more towards arcade style racing. I'm hoping their F1 game will be different.

I have the game since April or May 2007 but i played GT5P more.
F1CE is beautiful, has great physics and so on, but it didnt motivate me to play further.

ditto.

However, my reason may also be that my wheel is not setup properly? dang F1CE cars are so twitchy when I drive compared to running F1s in rFactor. I have been having too much fun with GT5P and too lazy to revisit F1CE to see if I can fix my 'problem.'
imho ymmv
:)

After having purchased and played GT5P for about 1.5 years now, I decided its time to try something else.
So I did some research on F1 CE. Now this game has been out for quite some time now, its actually one of the first games to come out with the PS3. but despite it being so old its actually quite impressive. I never bought it before because when it first came out it had no force feedback feature.
however, since early 2008, the developers created a patch that now allows you to have force feedback on the whee.
I have a g25 set up and I can say the FF is quite impressive. Although the feel is quite different to GT5P.
i have to say, i think racing with the ferrari f1 2007 car in gt5p feels more realistic than the F1 CE although this is just my initial impression.
but the F1 CE does offer a whole racing experience that i dont think gt5p or even gt5 can offer. eg. you can race a whole f1 season (2006). it just feels like racing. whereas gt5p is more like a realistic driving experience, but you dont really learn much about the racing motor sport.
i think its well worth getting the f1 ce, if you are an enthusiast and want to learn about the motorsport eg, the season, the different tracks, the points system, teams, constructors etc. all this you cannot get in gt5.

not mentioning simulation things such as damage and weather which will be included in gt5.

it might be difficult getting your hands on f1 now, i was only able to find one copy after searching 3 shops.

I have downloaded the F1 ce for free not the full game though and have to say its good, the physics and sound of the cars is better than gt5p

you don't get much close racing - but then F1 is hardly ever about close racing anyway, its too difficult to drive so fast and close to people all the time

Wrong. I had a race win decide within .001 online :) .
