It took me ages to find a copy of this game even secondhand. The prices on evilbay were pushing almost new game prices for secondhand copies. I grabbed the only copy available in my city and had to drive across town to one of the game stores to get it..... Liverpool Studios could have been making quite a bit of extra $$$ if it was freely available new because there seems to be a decent market for it still.
I haven't played it as much as I have GT5P but I really enjoy F1CE. It gives me a great break from GT and a whole new racing experience. One of the previous posts nailed it on the head for me - GT5P is about the driving, F1CE is about the racing.
I love the sounds, the graphics are great, the patch improves the handling and I just really enjoy the game for what it is - an immersive alternative to GT. Okay, the season is three years ago, you can't save the game mid-race if you are doing a full length GP (the old fingers get a bit sore on the controller - no wheel for me), but it is really good fun. Online was a bit of a disappointment to me. I don't have that much experience of any type of online racing but this type of game (open wheelers) really needs smooth online opposition rather than the jaggy opposition drivers you get onscreen (why is GT5P like this too?).
I like F1CE alot because I don't load it up thinking it is a pure driving sim to rival GT5P. But gee it's good fun and well worth its money, new or secondhand. Now to try Ferrari Challenge.
As to Codemasters getting the rights to make the new F1 games - firstly, Liverpool Studios have improved their games to the point where they make good ones IMO, whereas Codies have gone backwards. Colin McRae DIRT was absolute tripe and a travesty that sullies the name of the first Colin McRae Rally games (my copy, bought in error, has been sitting on the floor collecting dust it is such a disappointment). THEN they announce there will be no F1 game this year. Perhaps Codies and Polyphony will vie for the most delayed release........?
