I was doing the Cote d’Azur enduro with my f090/s and I hit the y-split between pit and the track, and I was about to throw it into reverse when the car just started doing 360s, blowing my lead and dumping me of third. I stop and go on, and on a 180-hair pin turn my front taps the wall and I stop. Then I start spinning. My settings are stock, what is wrong?

I did a search and found nothing...by the way.

Has the game ever been Gamesharked? That's been known to cause all manner of bizarre happenings, even if they are apparently not related.

Gameshark? I don't cheat to win games. At least not with game sharks.

No gamshark has ever TOUCHED my PS2.

No, he's saying that the car freaked out when he hit the wall, and began spinning in place. I've heard of it happening, but usually on Gamesharked games. Obviously not the case here...

Exactly what he said. It stoped for a second, then like..did a bunny-hop, spun 90 degrees, then landed and spun 540 degrees. It freaked me out for a second, lol.

Oh. I see. THat is really weird. I've done hundreds of laps on Cote in that car and nothing like that ever happened.

Good luck figuring it out. Check out GTVault anyway, though. Great place for settings. I wish GTP had something like it.

I know..it is awesome. I like Fume's setups, too.
I go there a the time, and it would be nice if GTP had something like that.

HEy guys I have a question regarding F1's

When you downshift into 2nd or 1st gear the tires seem to locked and I loose all control of the car.

What is this?

Sounds like an LSD issue. I think I may have mine set at 5, 5, 10. But that might be all wrong, too. I haven't changed it in a long time so I can't remember.

Your probably down-sifting to early. If i rmember right..if your high rpm and downsift, your tires always lock up cause of engine overload..correct? Drop rpms to about 4 to 4.5

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Ahh yes, the spinning issue. I have seen it many times. It is a bug of some sort in the game. It's always there. And it will always happen if you are in the certain spot. Just keep a normal line around that turn and you shouldn't have a problem.

Bingo. It happens to me also. If you spin out of control, and try to get going again, you might , for some reason, start to spin like a top. It sucks, and it seems to happen at some other tracks, but it's nothing new or unique. Just be careful to not spin out at Coté anymore.

No that ain't it.

I'm in 1st gear for exemple and I'm coming down for the tight hairpins on Monaco and I left out the gas before the turn and my rear tires locks up and I turn and I spin.

That happened to me once.....I missed the brake point for the last hairpin and hit the wall and spun. Just gotta deal with it, I guess.

As for the downshift into first, you gotta remember that 1st is geared WAY low, especially on the F1 cars, as they are all about acceleration. So, when you downshift and the engine engages, it slows down the rear wheels a LOT. It's kinda like slamming hard on the rear brakes: the rears lock up. So, I personally just don't use 1st gear at all, except for starting off and on a few really slow turns. And, it's really easy for the tail to slide out when accelerating in 1st, so I just keep it to 2nd and 3rd usually.

I've run into this on COte as well. As near as I've been able to giure out, it's a glitch in the game.

IT's similar to slamming the wall as you enter the pits. The game has a function to shift into reverse and situate you to move forward again. What's happening is, the game is thinking that your car is stuck, and shifts the model in such a way that it allows you to easily get in the race again. Problem being, it assumes you need to turn a bit. The computer locks up and spins your car 180/2780/360/whatever. IT then realize you need to spin the other direction. and back you go.

I've only ever seen it happen at the bottom of the hill after the tunnel (The Box Chicane I believe).

The other train of thought is that due to being such a low riding car, you get hung up on a piece of the rumble strip, and the computer kicks in to force you off. Your rear tires are touching, but your front aren't. Therefore any movement of the rear wheels sends you spinning.

I didn't explain the first scenario clear enough, but I'd lean more towards that one.

This is the best one I've seen or thought of so far. I don't know why...but I have a feeling this is it. So another bug on the list for Polyphony.

I've experianced this as well. So far it has only happened at Monaco. On older tires stop anywhere on the track and while still holding your brake down and applying NO gas turn left or right. You'll be doing 360's :D

I've had this happen to me on Midfield Raceway as well. I think it can happen on any track, but only in certain spots. I also think it is just a glitch in the game.

Yep this happened to me a couple of days ago. I was like wtf? I wasn't even going that fast and I didn't throttle while in sand, I was on pavement! It certainly had a glitch feel to it, Der Alta explained it pretty well

This happens because the compression of the engine is so high, that in 1st and 2nd gear and sometimes 3rd when you let off the gas suddenly the compression of the engine causes the rear wheels to want to slow down and in this case actually loose traction, kind of giving you that "who hit the hand brake?” felling. To correct this, don't use 1st gear at all, and when in second and you feel this is happening just give it a little gas and the tires should keep rolling and it should stabilize the car. If you feel you need 1st gear you just have to be more careful when letting off the gas.
