Similar rules apply to those in the Personal Best Thread.
Rules:
1) All times must be posted before the closing date, the time when the conquered flag drops at Istanbul.
2) All times must be posted in this thread and in this style: 1.40.000, 33.333/33.333/33.333, Joe Bloggs.
3) All times must be legit, ie they must be recognised by the game in its lap records.
4) Times MUST BE COMPLETED IN TIME TRIAL MODE ONLY.
5) Each weeks winner must post a picture of their time within 48 hours of the closing date.
6) Points will be awarded in a similar fashion to that used in Formula 1, points will be given to the top eight times drivers and also 1 point will be awarded for each of the 3 fastests sectors, for example driver 1 could have the fastest time and 1 fastest sector and get 11 points but driver 2 had the 2nd fastest time and had 2 fastest sectors so he scores 10 points.

*This is just for fun, everyone is welcome to participate and I would hope that no one would, or have any intentions to, cheat.

**Good Luck to all! 👍

I didn't take the sector times when I did this session but since I won't be competing for the win then it shouldn't be a big problem, right?

Phew someone replied at last :P.
Try and note your sectors in future, because even if you dont win you could still have 1 great sector time. I put that in because although a certain setup is probably perfect for the whole lap a completely different one is probably perfect for one of the sectors. It just adds another component to the series. 👍

Heh, I was practicing earlier, so I might be posting sometime. Ive barely run the Hungaroring before, so Ill be a while and no promises either.

well i just achieved gold with a williams on the hungaroring... 1:18.XXX... should we all use our best cars for this thread?

Not bad at all crooky,

Im gonna throw another gauntlet on the ground if you dont mind :sly:,

1:14.522 27.466/26.007/21.049 211.6 Km/h

I still believe there is a little time for me out the, especially in the second sector, also about a tenth and a half in the first sector.💡
by the way GT4 this time is the quickest in the whole P.B thread (sorry for beating ur time mate.)

best regards
Alireza

Here's mine so far:

1:15.945, 27.722/26.875/21.348, icelt

I could see myself with a perfect lap at zero fuel shaving maybe another 5-tenths, but I don't how in the heck I could ever get in the 1:14's. Wow

Great to see the interest, some good times there, I'll post something this evening, hopefully in the 15s but hardy as good as yours Alireza.

Just one thing, please please post your times in the order that I post them in the 1st post. It makes it so so much faster and easier for me then.

And one more, if you want me to put any of these times in the PB thread please post them there also.

Btw what "mode" are you guys doing this in?
Because I tend to all timed laps in time trial as it makes sense to, but is it a big advantage to get slipstream?

Well I'm doing it in the practice part of a Grand Prix Weekend. I've done an hour and didnt get any slipstream, got hindered by traffic twice though.
Heres my time, there is still better to come but this is all I could manage for now. Might tweak the setup a but more but if it doesnt get me closer to Alirza then I think I'll completely flip the setup, which I have a small hunch might just work.

1.14.962, 27.866/25.847/21.149, GT4 genius

Edit: Just noticed that my 2nd sector is the fastest, so the sector points thing could show some interesting results.

this is almost embarrassing to post.. =(

WTF 1:14??? i have no clue how u guys do that...i think i don't know how to setup my car right... i mean i really don't know how to set the suspensions right to give me an advantage...somebody tutor me on that!

Hi Gipfeli,

I believe its not your suspensions which are wrong, judging by the sector times its the wing settings.
27.689 for Sector 1 is a very good time but your losing too much time in the twisty bits.

I am of the opinion that your wing settings are too low.
and just for a little tip in turn 2 dont believe the line that the computer gives you!!!!

I have no chance of beating that.:sly:

Well sure have a go anyway. Its just for a bit of fun and I'd love to see more than eight times on the board. 👍

Gipfeli, Alireza is right it dosent seem like a suspension issue if you look at my first sector it is actually 2 tenths slower than yours. So I am having a similar problem to you, that what I meant by saying I might flip my setup!

Also I would like if we could all try and post our setups after each race to help each other with this sort of thing.

Oh and I should probably mention only 3hrs 40mins remaining!!

my setups ??? U guys want MY SETUPS???

no problem, I was only joking, I would be more than happy to compare notes, maybe I could be faster with your setups and the setup to the toyota is vastly different to that of say a Ferrari.

Best of luck you guys as Im in my office and checking whether my time will be beaten or not.
It working day here and I have an office to run !!!!

Take care and best regards
Alireza

Yeah, I'd love to see your setups, but leave them until the race closes.

I'm heading on again to make up those 4 tenths, you'll not be happy to hear. :sly:

So is Sunday a normal working day there? Is Friday and Saturday your weekend or how does that work?

Ok thats it times up. I have got a new time but not fast enough:

1.14.882, 27.806/26.107/20.969, GT4genius

Because this is the first race and people may not have seen the closing date I will allow more times to be posted from now until 6pm, thats another 3 hours from now. I will then calculate the points.

Edit: So thats the first race over, congratulations to Alireza for what most have been a brilliant lap together with a brilliant setup.

I'll update the first post now. What should the next track and car be, and when should the closing date be?

Edit 2: Does anyone know how I can change the name of this thread?? Thanks

Congrats to Alireza & GT4. Nice guys getting into the 1:14's. Very impressed. 👍

For what it is worth, 3rd place apparently ;), I'm more than happy to share my setup:

Budapest - Toyota

TYRE'S:
Tyre type: Dry
Tyre compound: Soft

TYRE PRESSURES:
Front: 29 psi
Rear: 22 psi

TRACTION CONTROL:
Preset 1: 25%
Preset 2: 45%
Preset 3: 80%
Note: Only preset 3

Rear wing: 40%

Rear anti-roll: 111000 N/m/s

Rear rebound damping: 9800 N/m/s
Front bump damping: 7500 N/m/s
Rear bump damping: 7800 N/m/s

Anti-lock brakes: On

Brake bias settings:
Preset 1: 65/35
Preset 2: 77/23
Preset 3: 35/65
Only used Preset 2

I have no idea why I'm so slow in sector 2 with this setup... maybe I can take the chicane much more aggressively?

Note: I'd never go with this aggressive of camber settings for a race as I just know that as the tires started to wear a little it would be spin outs galore. Also for extra safety margin I'd use 90% TC and maybe +5% rear wing.

I'll have a go with that setup tomorrow and see what its like, I'll also post mine. One thing that stands out though is how low your ride height is. Budapest is a very bumpy circuit with some very high kerbs most notably the chicane and the first corner steep hill. I'd say your car bottomed out a lot, my height was around the low 20s, I think I set my final time at 24mm.

As for sector two, it is the most difficult sector and 40% wing would not suit it, I had my wing at about 60 but thats why my first sector is so slow.

question, do you guys switch between your brake bias during the laps? i've noticed on onboard vids that they usually do it prior to hairpins...

also, i'd somehow need to know whether u guys use a wheel or not... i assume you all do...because i'm trying to improve my braking with brake locks OFF. sad thing is, you can only go by sound to know whether you're locking the wheels or not... in real life, you feel it... it's impossible to drive with it turned off using the controller =)

Now let's see what people can do in Australia. I know the track very well so it's just a matter of getting the right tuning settings.

And Gipfeli- I use the sixaxis and I do get wheel lock ups but I've managed to find a way to stop it. Just experiment and see what's best.

This thread is going to be great, this way each one can do the times when one has the time. And that is a huge advantage over the PAL championship thread which is also great but by its nature suffers from that everyone must find the same time to carry out the event. And also after the this weekly event, setup discussions could contribute alot to everyones insight.

My settings were:

Hell no on the brake bias. I think if I fiddled with that while trying to do fastest lap on a track like Budapest I'd find myself off-line or worse pretty soon. I use the ordinary Sixaxis controller.

-2.0 is alot for sure. My camber settings were made more even as you can see. Since I did post this time in GP weekend practice and placed 2nd after Fisichella with this time, I felt I wanted to go ahead and do the race. I qualified 7th in the end. Ran up to 3rd after the first corner, hit second corner way to hard and were overtaken by 2 cars. I ran in 5th place to pitstop, came out 6th, a car in front broke down and so I ended race 5th. This was a 30% race with scaled settings. Which means I ran a fair few laps with worn tires and with relatively high camber. But it really wasn't a problem. The grip was worse but evenly worse. I had no problem at all controlling the car and I was really driving without to much stress at 5th or 6th the entire race. At the last couple of laps, just to try it out, I started to press on to try to shake the car behind me and I pulled away by half a second each lap with worn tires. And so my point is, I think the spinning and control issues arise from high uneven camber more than anything. Not so much with high, even camber. It is one thing to skid a little while being in control as happened in highspeed turn 4, and another to spin the car.

Alireza, outstanding lap.

This is my real setup for the lap.
I cant believe icelt used 77/23 I have never tried that
Also 40/40 for his wing couldnt be right !!!

We will discuss setups when also see GT4's setup so that we can provide everyone with a very good review of setups which would be a great benefit to all of us.

Best Regards,
Alireza

Yeah I'll have mine up in a minute, really looking forward to trying yours out Alireza.

Budapest Toyota:
Tyre: Dry

Front wing: 70%
Rear Wing: 70%

I know, you will all think my camber is ridiculous, but I think it works for me. I think my big problem was that the gear ratios were a bit messed up. Going to try yours now Alireza, maybe I'll get to like a lower camber angle!

whoohaa check out that camber and toe...

I also think Icelt uses very low wing but hey, he's faster than me

Now, this is way too interesting !!!!!!

look at the difference between my setup and the setup of GT4 !!!!
and the difference is only 4 tenths.
Let me jus reiterate that with a more forward brake bias that I just tested along with a few tweaks i just threw down this laptime which will not count in the challenge but i will post al the same.

1:14.070 27.376/25.925/20.769 Alireza Sabbagh

Can someone please give me the URL of the best worldwide laptimes so I could compare ????

Best regards
Alireza
