F2007 too easy to drive?

Easiest car to drive my ass. Racing online for 20 laps at Suzuka is not easy. Taking turn one as fast as you can, breaking, downshifting and turning in. That's ****ing difficult, then you're faced with some high speed S's where you say to yourself "I know I can take this full throttle". You try to break as little as possible so that you're in the correct rev range and don't have to downshift then before you know it you've over cooked it and your in the sand.

Really? I found the car quite easy to drive aswell, however that was with full downforce in the F2007 event @ Suzuka. TT's in the F2007 are quite diffucult but you can get used to it. 👍

F2007: Easy to drive... much harder to drive fast.

I can bob around Suzuka quite happily, but I can't get close to the very top time trial figures online. And I'm not that slow, as anyone who's raced me would hopefully attest!

I find the F2007 easy to drive, but when you're at 10/10ths, everything happens so quickly that it's much harder to be accurate, as you need to be to be very quick.

Agreed. my average lap is around Suzuka is 1'29 using full downforce, but is no match for Div 1 guys.

Well of course it's difficult to be very quick or be the best in the world with it, but that doesn't prove it's right.

I too feel it's too easy to drive. This is just my opinion of course, and I obviously never drove a real F1 car, but still when you drive the F2007 in prologue I don't feel like I will ever loose control of the car, just except when accelerating out of slow corners, where it does a very weird and predictable oversteer.

It's just my feeling of course, but when you see real F1, you can see drivers correcting in quick corners, or struggling with grip under heavy breaking, and this doesn't happen at all in GT5P. The only thing that can take my car go out of its rails is the oversteer when accelerating from slow speed I mentioned earlier.

Just my 2 cents of course.

Well, the F2007 is Professional physics only, and I think that Professional is rather a little bit easier. I could see why though, it is the only 'race car' in the game as such.

This has been discussed over and over again. If this car is not hard enough to drive, if it doesn't feel like it oversteers enough, if it has too much grip, etc., etc. - you aren't driving it fast enough. Once you get closer to the leaderboard times, you'll know why it feels the way it does. Yes, the car isn't the most realistic representation in the game, but the grip levels are closer than you think, you just aren't pushing the car enough.

easy to drive? okay, how about turning off the TCS and ASM etc etc..?

After playing F1CE for a bit, going back to the F2007 does indeed feel very easy. While I'm not getting within 2 seconds of leaderboard times, I am getting with 4 or so on average, so I don't think I'm driving it too slow. Thing is, even on N1s with TCS/ASM off and full force feedback, the F2007 still feels invincible. It feels like the road is 130 degrees Fahrenheit and my tires are stuck to it. In F1CE, for example, even though they are F1 cars, there is still weight transfer which doesn't seem fully developed in GT5P. In F1CE, if I have my brakes set to 75:25 and come up to a corner hard on the brakes, then immediately get back on the throttle, I can be sure that my rear wheels are going to slip. In the F2007, I don't need to worry about this unless I'm accelerating in 1st or 2nd gear around a sharp turn.

I'm no racing expert, but I honestly don't think GT5P's physics engine was made for something so aerodynamic as the F2007. It multiplies the positives too much.

That's naturally going to happen. Real F1 drivers are driving right at the car's limits which is why they need to make those corrections and so on. Likewise, if you're not right at the limits in the game (i.e. at the top of the time trial leaderboards) you're unlikely to be going quickly enough to need to correct. If you put an average (but talented) racing driver in an F1 car, doubtless they'd find it surprisingly easy to drive and much quicker than what they're used to, but they'd still be much slower than the top F1 drivers.

Oh come on! :) Show me a video of how you push the F2007 so at any quick corner you have to countersteer.

I think what you see in the video can't be replicated in game. I could be wrong but I would like to see an ingame video of someone replicating this car behaviour.

I guess that's pretty much the best way to state how to drive this awesome F2007.

This is why it actually struggles more on high speed corners thatn on the sharpest turns, for example, Spoon Curve on Suzuka is easy for the F2007, 130R on the same circuit is a lot harder.

I would say that the F2007 is one of those cars that is very dodgy when moving at speed, and is so much better when going through less high speed corners. We've all seen cars like that, right?

An unskilled driver will be slower than a skilled one, I agree on this, it is quite obvious I believe. An unskilled driver will find the limits as much as a skilled driver, the difference being the skilled one will not pass them.

That is one of the reasons I find F1CE a little more realistic on the physics aspect. In the F2007 in GT5P, I find that if I countersteer like Kimi did in that vid, the tires seem to disobey the laws of physics and instantly get grip again, throwing me into the wall. In F1CE, I can actually keep the car under control around some of the more demanding turns without throwing myself off the track.

And remember, I'm no F1 driver (duh!), but from what I've seen on TV and online, F1 cars still have their moments.

No, you show me. I don't banter back and forth about how close I can make my driving look or feel like reality, I don't post comparative videos or ask people to match/beat my lap times, and I don't complain about how much PD did or didn't give me. I play the game, that's it.

However, I do agree F1CE has a great representation of F1 car physics for a game. That being said, I think if you combined F1CE's physics with the oversteering, yes oversteering, nature of the F2007 on GT5P, I'd be supremely happy.

Wow sry if you got upset, or maybe you just missed some smilies, wasn't my instention to get you upset if that is the case :) To me it seems you imply I do all this list of things you list, which I don't.

You do claim however that if I don't find the game realistic enough is because I am not good enough at it. To this I disagree, not because I even say I am good, but because you don't need to be the best in the world to have an opinion on the physics. Hope you understand my point this time.

No, I wasn't upset by any means and I wasn't trying to imply anything. I was only showing the list of rules by which I live.

As far as me telling you specifically anything about how you drive, or how good you are - also not my intention. What it all boils down to is two simple facts. First, as far as I know nobody on this forum has data of F1 grip levels IRL and in-game for comparison, and second, this game will never be truly realistic.

That includes you as well, but you do still have an opinion, same as me. And I thought that could still be discussed in this forums. :)

I tried Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4 earlier and in comparison the F1 2007 in Prologue it is easy to drive. After 20 laps on GP4 I still couldn't do a lap without losing it :)

I'm a new F2007 owner myself and haven't had a LOT of time to play with it, but i do find it easy to keep control. Now being easy to drive FAST thats another story. I find it to be VERY tail happy when coming up to a sharp turn and i'm quckly braking/downshifting, but thats MY fault as, i'm down-shifting too fast and upsetting the balance of the rear causing it to slip/slide, and the amount of counter-steer on these things sucks (left it stock setting) that it's hard to get some serious drift angle/correction. Which shouldn't be a problem if driven properly.

I will say it's an EASY car to keep on the track, but a difficult car to drive FAST. I played the high-speed ring race 2-3 times only on 2 laps. I start at 8th and End in 8th....usually, this is with the AI all the way up, once i got to 6th, but that was because the AI 6-7th place were battling it out and i slipstreamed right past them. :dopey:

I am nowhere near being the fastest out there, but i definately don't suck. On a scale of 1-10 i would guestimate i'm about 7-8? 10 being best and 1 being worste. :)👍
