hi guys i need a little help in tuning my fairlady '89... could anyone please offer me a base tune so i can get the spark?
This is probably the least beginner friendly car Ive tuned
It makes peak power right at the cut-off. So you have to be really on point with the shifting - and if you miss it, your race is toast
Also lauching it is difficult too. In contrast to a supra or rx7 which is simple by comparison
just some advice. I recommend you learn how to tune and race on other cars first and then head back to this. But anyway this should get you started

transmission. 160 top speed, starting final 3.300 - 3.500 area
dhinkaachikamy car keeps on bogging on the first gear.. why is that?
Is the traction control off?
Is the traction control off?
dhinkaachikayes it is.. does that effect it?
Yes.....traction control will try to adjust wheel spin by taking some power away at launch, but like KT said 1st gear could be to long. I also have to agree, the 89z can be really tricky to tune to be a competitor in drag racing.
Danny280zxturboListen, I can help you...Do not use any assistance. Try this,….reset transmission, put final at 3,000, now top speed all the way to the left.. now final to 2000.
1st all the way to the left.
2nd almost all the way to the left. (30%) “LONG”
4th, 5t, and 6th, all the way to the right.. 3rd gear is almost like 4th but a bit longer.
Suspension.

Front toe angle -1.00 Rear tie angle 0.75
Use a wing, max to the right.👍
Now when you launch, you have to shift to second gear really fast so it wont bog....👍
Not arguing but i think you misunderstood my point. I don't use any assist besides abs 1, i was letting him know that TC will impact his launch as far as tuning for a good launch, i use the quick shift method as well, but thanks for the 1/4 mile tuning tips, i don't 1/4 mile tune much (tunnel & X) maybe i should start. Lol
