The Terrible Shotgun. The Combat Shotgun's big brother. It's in the same building as the Barter Bobblehead, kill the Raider Merchant 'Smiling Jack' for it. Strongest shotgun in the game (except for the Kneecapper possibly, never repaired that one 100% though)

Beat me to it. After repairing mine to about 75% it was rated at about 73 dmg per shot! Good enough to pop most super mutants noggin's clean off their shoulders with 1 shot.

SL: Was the rare sniper rifle the one with 3 bullets? That thing is awesome. I wish Sniper rifles in VATS had better accuracy, they really should.

Agreed. The base SR is only doing about 30 dmg per round and it's VATS long range accuracy ain't all that improved compared to my Xuanlong Assault Rifle that when repaired is rated at over 20 dmg per round. As I only get 2 VATS shots off with the SR and 9 shots with the XAR the total potential damage between the 2 is around 60 vs 180. Or 3 to 1 in favor of the XAR, man that's a huge difference. The SR is much better used in manual mode while hidden it seems to me, at least this way you get the extra critical multiplier.

Oh, that's true about manual mode, in VATS it's sadly not much better than the single-fire rifles. I use VATS in 95% of encounters

Speaking of VATS, Ledoux's Hockey Mask + Action Boy + High AGL stat = VATS heaven. I'm talkin 7 or so plasma rifle shots!!

I want that "Terrible" shotgun for my collection! I could have had the "Kneecapper" but didn't kill the douchebag who has it (the guy who wants to nail the 'Nuka Quantum' freak.)

I don't think I'd use the Terrible since my "Sydney's SMG" gets a DAMAGE rating of 59, plus is a lot lighter in weight and I have 6 shots in VATS.

Yep. Ain't it a peach? I never use it in VATS. I only use if for long distance shots. I've even taken down Radscorpions in one shot with it. However, Giant Radscorpions are a different story. I just wish it was a five shot capacity. IRL, such a firearm would have at least 10 shot, if not 20 round, capacity.

Speaking of unique weapons, anybody get the Lincoln Repeater? That thing is mega awesome, the sound of it slowed down (in VATS I mean) is rather strange though.
I have it, but haven't use it, yet. I guess I'll do so now. I think it's weird they made it a .44 Magnum. Elmer Keith invented that round in the late 1940's to early 1950's. It should have been in .44-40 or even .44 Colt or .44 Russian, but I can see why they didn't. No reason to create special ammo, since .44 mag is already in the game.

I sold the Lincoln Repeater to Abraham Washington for 200 caps on my second playthrough. When I used it on my first playthrough, I was unstoppable during the quest leading up to the ending. If the first .44 magnum round to the head is not fatal, the three that follow it with 95% accuracy to the head will be.

I still need to retrieve the Reservist's Rifle with the missile launcher. The stupid guy died up in the church where I can't reach his corpse. I left his body riddled with holes, but I couldn't get a body part or the weapon to budge.

Although it is sort of a pain to reach Smiling Jack in order to trade, I decided to let him live just for just that purpose. The way that I got the Terrible Shotgun from him was to steal his shotgun ammo, exit the bazaar and foundry, enter back again, and then steal the Shotgun, since it was now unequipped because he had no ammo:).

I got the Kneecapper from Ronald Laren by reverse pick-pocketing a Mini Gun on him, leaving his shack, and then stealing the Kneecapper. The Kneecapper is powerful for its light weight, but very limited due to the fact that it only holds two rounds.

Good tip on the Terrible. Don't know who that is yet, but I can find it on Wikia.

I'm half way finished with a 'Big Guns Skill Book Glitch Run' and was able to get the 'Doesn't Play Well With Others' trophy. I also jump to level 19, and will do so to 20 by the time I'm done.

Hey guys!

I've been watching Fallout 3 through YouTube lately, and I'm in love with the game. I'm now planning on investing in a PS3 just so I can buy Fallout.

So what do you guys reckon, is it worth it?

I'd be surprised if you regretted buying a PS3. You'll also end up playing more than just Fallout 3.

Well, finally had a chance to play a little more yesterday and decided to get the Declaration of Independence. Using help from a fellow collector and I got the document and headed back to Rivet City. The most awesome part about it is Abraham Washington thanked me and said he gave me a Rail Gun. SWEEEET.

The most NOT SO AWESOME part of it is that I don't have a Rail Gun in my inventory?!?!?! What the heck is going on here. It was also late and I might have been seeing things...

Can anyone confirm the prize?

The PS3 is not the premier platform for Fallout. The PC is, followed by the Xbox 360. They get better graphics and DLC. If it's only Fallout 3, then you're better off with the other two.

If there are other games you plan to play on the PS3 and you don't have a beefy PC, then Fallout on the PS3 makes sense.

Pako, he didn't give you a railgun. He gave you the schematics for a Railway Rifle. :)

I hope you saved Sydney's life! You can do the SMG glitch over, and over, and over, and over again 'til your heart's content. You can also do so anytime during the rest of your game, until a patch gets rid of it. You ask her questions about her gun and then her father, play her a message you find in the Statesman Hotel, and she'll give you her gun which will do 60 DAMAGE. It also comes with 50 extra rounds of 10mm and the gun sells for 236-360 caps at most merchants, depending on your BARTER skill level. I have 130 in my home inventory, after selling about 200 hundred of them, already. 👍

Also, I hope you didn't forget to pick up Button's Wig on the floor behind him to the right. You can always go back to get. Gives you great perks when chatting with people (CHR+10, BARTER+5).

Also, if you did the 'computer quiz' on American history, make sure to select GRAPE MENTATS as your prize. Pop one when you want to win a SPEECH, that's if you CHARISMA is very low, like the rest of ours. You only get one 'prize coupon' to spend, but there are SIX more in a room someplace. I haven't found them yet, but I need to go back and look.

Exploit abuse doesn't sound terribly exciting, Solid Lifters. What do you need so many SMGs and caps for? :)

Does the computer quiz dispense more coupons? The stash of coupons is nearby, but I missed it on the first play through.

To live like a king. ;)

No, the computer doesn't. It only gives you one ticket and then shuts down. But in a safe, or in another room, you can find 6 more tickets to redeem a prize. I haven't found them, either.

Just finished the survival guide. Now onto the National Archive...

I went into Tenpenny Towers and got the quest to eliminate the ghouls. I went into someone's room and stole something, I hadn't realised they were there. Just about got out alive.

When is it safe to go back in?

Three days, but don't try it in Paradise Falls. They NEVER forgive/forget you!

Oh, and follow the tips I gave Pako in the National Archives. But first, find the INK in the library. That way you can give it to Button and he'll make a fake copy of the document, which will net you Good Karma and stop you from killing Button.

Over 13,000 caps now! All legit! Can i buy a mansion or something?

Button is one of the most memorable characters in Fallout.

I just killed his ass and stole the Declaration because i really didn't feel like going to find some damn ink and have to run all the way through that labyrinth again.

I think I win the lazy award, I told Moira she shouldn't write the Wasteland Survival Guide and completed the quest right there :dunce:

If I play a second time, that's what I'm going to do. I hate that woman; so damn annoying.

I made level 20 and Grim Reaper's Sprint is AWESOME! It's what I thought it would be; the best perk in the game. Don't pass it up.

I have a question about "Strictly Business" quest. Do I MUST retrieve everyone they need me to, or can I just do the one's I can find? I mean, if one, or several, of the people are already dead or cannot be found, do I get 'excused' from finding them? I'm only concerned about the trophy. I don't care about the caps, since I have 20,000 of them.

I was told to do "Strictly Bus" quest, then start "Tenpenny Tower" quest at the same time. 'Cause, while I'm at the tower I can capture one of the guests I need for "SB" quest.

You're only responsible for all the ones that are still alive. If you put a bullet through Arkansas' head during your trip to Minefield, then you don't need to capture him later.

Arlington library?

Arlington library?

I think that's it. Where Scribe Yearling buys the 'Pre-War Books' from you for 100 caps each. The INK is hard to find. It's in a box, on the second or third floor, in a special section of the Building. In the box is a bunch of other items you may not want, which makes it hard to spot.

Lying and winning the SPEECH challenge from Button wont earn you Good Karma like finding the INK.

Spoiler:
Who doesn't want to be George Washington? It's funny convincing a Protectron that a 19-year old woman is the First President of the United States of America. ;)

Besides, good karma is easy to find while speech challenges will get you closer to the trophy for speech successes.

Killing him doesn't help things much either.... :indiff: I had been wondering around for hours, 150lbs overloaded and wasn't in the mood to go searching for ink, especially how the clone mission went for me.

Oh I didn't know that. I think if you drop items in an area with no enemies (like a random house) they'll still be there when you come back. Note that I am not liable if you lose all your stuff :P

I hid over 30 weapons in a tool box, once. I came back to it several hours later and they were still there. Hide the stuff in something and you should be alright. Probably not for long, since items change every three or four days.

@Pako I have to admit, searching for the INK was a pain. I think you saved yourself some trouble by killing him.

You can try some alcohol and some buffout for +20 carrying weight to temporarily fast travel. You will be crawling once you reach town. If you get addicted, then surely some of your loot can pay for 50 caps worth of meds. :)
