I'd heard things about this, so decided to give it a shot...

Overall, it's a pretty weak "film", and not terribly hot as a documentary either. One of the first stats the guy trotted out set my logic centre on edge. However, it was funny in parts, the concern showed by his doctors was staggering (although to be honest, did not ONE of them realise that a 30-day binge on a high-fat diet would cause some serious side effects?), some of the stuff he did outisde the experiment - wandering around schools, asking about their diets - was intriguing and a little informative. The fact he HAD to Supersize when asked, and he couldn't eat or drink anything not sold by McDonalds, was pretty funny too.

I was left with a bit of a sour aftertaste though. It seemed as if the film wasn't just a dig at McDonalds, or even the fast food industry as a whole, but a push for organic produce.

That said, watch it by all means - it's good for a laugh and might make you think about how much pure crap is in your diet.

I can't imagine sitting through the entire length of this inane blatherfest. This is quite possibly the stupidest idea short of "lets drink heavily every day and see if we we get drunk and get liver damage" or maybe "let's use lots of heroin and see if we get addicted".

Of freaking course force-feeding yourself a high-fat, high-protein, high carbohydrate diet containing 3 times the normal calorie intake of a sane person with an actual brain will make you get fat.

Hah - good call.

your right its weak. Our cinema is so bad at getting in movies we have ssm out this week and I was reading an interview with the guy who did it and he said that he couldent stomach it on the first week coz his body wasnt used to the food but when he could go back on healthy food his bod wasnt used to it the same way he wasnt used to the fast food at the start.

I take this movie as not being anti-McDonalds so much as anti-fast food. That he chose McDonalds as his venue of choice for his experiment was unfortunate, but couldn't have been avoided because I don't think he could have kept the restaurant anonymous and still made a movie about it.

But it was a weak argument either way, and I watched more for entertainment than to learn anything. Most people are already aware of how bad McDonalds is, and the bottom line is that they don't care. They just keep shovelling it into their mouths until they drop dead.

That said, a Big Mac sure does hit the spot on a Saturday night.

I completely agree with you, that is why I would never try something dumb like that, but I don't mind watching some buffoon giving it a go. That said I still have too see this movie. I guess my diet is probably as bad as his (stupid college food).

Those are probably the same people that know smoking will kill you, yet, continue, and sue when they get cancer.. .Someone needs to start killing lawyers.. And FAST !

The fact that there are EIGHTY-THREE McDonalds in Manhattan was a help - as well as a surprising stat...

I really didn't enjoy this movie at all. Some of the facts were interesting, but most weren't really surprsing in context. All that leaves is the comedy value, and I didn't find anything special in that category either, so it was mediocre at best for me.

I thought it was pretty interesting. Most of the side effects, most people already know about. The scariest thing was that he went from 186lbs to 210lbs in a month. Also, although we already know that "McDonald's food is bad", it was a total eye opener in how food industries pushes their products to people, especially kids. Even if they weren't doing it on purpose, it is total brainwashing how fast food and junk food companies draw kids in at very young age. I hope those companies get smacked upside the head in the future, just like the tobacco companies.

I thought it was quite entertaining as a Film/Documentary - trouble is, it just made me want to eat McD's - which i'm sure wasn't the idea of the film!

Its certainly not the best "docufilm" around (Bowling for Concubine (SP) is much better) but its worth a shot, certainly an eye opener.

I **** you not, few minutes into the film, I had to stop the DVD and drive over to McDonalds. I watched the rest of the movie with a big mac in my hand. :guilty:

I was thinking that, also.

I wouldn't trust this movie for any solid facts, but it is pretty funny the **** this guy goes through. When he pukes, it seems pretty fake tho. It's nothing really special, just the same ol, 'lets feed off the sucess off of this guy', kinda routine.

I give it :) :) , you can count this as the prequel to bowling for columbine, if any of you are wondering why m.Moore can't chase a 80 year old guy.
