Hi all.

Looking at spending roughly £200 on a wheel and ive been looking at the g27 and thinking yes please

and then saw the fanatec carerra for £40 less and comes with the whole package.

however i saw a vid on inside sim racing and it was a preview model

BUT IT WAS LOUD AS ****!!! i mean mega loud so loud i wouldnt buy it...

is that still the same today or shall i go with the g27?

Bearing in mind this will be for drifting also..

I think the carrera wheel is definately bang for your buck. Great wheel, ok pedals and shifter.

That model you heard I'm sure is the prototype that they sent ISR. It's not nearly as loud as that. But you also have to remember the G27, even though its quiet on turning the wheel, has a really loud clanky sound when rally racing.

It depends on what you want. With a fanatec, you have the tuneability function in the wheel. You also have the opportunity to upgrade to parts(clubsports).

But logitech on the other hand, I feel the pedals and shifter are alot better. And with a g27, you can put on a bigger diameter wheel, invert the pedals easier, and even mod the shifter to feel better.

If you can get the logitech on sale, go for that definately. But they are hard to find in stock, where as the Fanatecs are in stock and ready to go.

I have since sold my G27, but only to purchase a GT2 with clubsports. It really is a great wheel. I can't compare it directly to a carrera, because I never owned one. But im sure you will like the carrera too.

Hope this helps. But I am sorry if its made your decision harder. I was once in the same boat. But ended up getting the G27 because of the pedals, and easily mounted to my playseat.

I have a Carrera wheel, and I don't think it's really loud at all. It tends to make a 'whirring' noise if you counter steer really quickly (due to the gear driven force feedback) but I try to drive really smooth so it doesn't make much fuss at all.

The pedals are pretty good, especially for the price. The shifter is a bit clicky when moving between gears, but overall the function of it is really just as good as a G27.

thanks guys better than most posts where its just

G27 FOR ZEE WINZOR and all this bollocks.

Ill have a think about it, ill be extra happy with either as im not a full on sim racer i just want a fancy wheel that does fancy things at a decent price, may as well get a wheel that lasts, just thought about the fanatec since its basically the same package at a smaller price.

Since you're not hardcore, buy the G27. Logitech are easier to deal with if things go wrong. Also, the pedals alone are worth the money more than the Carrera (coming from a Carrera owner).

Just to add another point of view, the carrera is compatible with the clubsport pedals so you could upgrade later down the line. That is my plan, add to it bit by bit. Having said that, the standard pedals are fine for my needs.

I really like my Carrera despite some of the niggles I've had. It is a little louder than I had hoped but it's not too bad.

Cheers Mike, i think in the end putting that extra £50 in for the logitech g27 is the insurance at least then im buying something that wont be loud and also trouble free, plug in and play at its finest, ive been doing some reading up and ive read that the fanatec can have some right problems, hell theres a guy on here who posted today and its breaking before his eyes..poor sod :(
