When I got my wheel on Monday of this week, when I first hooked it up the wheel started its calibration by going full right then full left but it stops at full left with 8.8.8. on the screen. Eventually with a few dozen cycles with the power button and fiddling with the base button it started working again.

Now tonight when I set it up at first I'd hit the power button and nothing happened. More fiddling with power cords, cycling the button, etc. and were back to the 8.8.8. on the display. Anyone have any ideas of what to try?

Also does anyone know how to check the FW? And is there a way to do a factory reset or something similar?

Edit 1: As I come across info that might be helpful I'll put it here in the original post.

Checking Firmware:
I couldn't get this to work on my unit but these are the instructions for the PWC and PWGT3RS V2.
Turn on the wheel and let it begin its auto-calibration. AFTER the wheel does full lock to the right but BEFORE it makes it back to grab the wheel with both hands. Push and hold the lower four of the eight wheel buttons. Turn the wheel to center, release the four buttons. The LED should display your firmware version.

Recent Firmwares:
Version 678
Version 681

I just tried my GT3RS V2 for the first time and within an hour of game play it displayed "8.8.8" and wouldn't work. The wheel just rotated left with "8.8.8" and I've searched for a fix but haven't found one. Let me know if you find one.

I tried updating to the newest firmware (version 681) but it didn't change anything, I'm going to try some older firmware versions to see if I can't come up with anything.

Where can we even get the firmwares? I did a search all over google for GT2 firmware and I only found drivers, never any firmware.

That is one of the most funny and ridiculous procedures I have ever heard.

I had no issues with my Carrera wheel - plugged it in, set it to PS3 mode and away I went. It stinks that you guys are having this kinda trouble!!!

Any luck?

Tell me about it. There are what, 19 buttons on this wheel? And THATS the procudure?Grab it and wrestle it to centre?

See below.

Here you go. http://www.fanatec.de/html/index.php?id=31162&lang=en

I'm pretty sure that this will update your firmware to the newest one.

Those are drivers, not firmware. Firmware is available at http://www.911wheel.de

Version 678
Version 681

I had that issue when I tried updating my firmware shortly after my wheel arrived. I just reran the firmware update and I havent seen the error since.

When I switch my PWC wheel on, it only goes full lock to the right, and then back to centre. Isn't it meant to go full right lock, then full left lock as well?

The wheel works fine though, and is awesome with GT5 :)

From watching videos and what not it seems to always go right full lock, left full lock, and then return to "center" (which is normally just a tick to the left of center). I don't have any PC games so I haven't tried it personally.

Mine goes full lock right and then it just returns to centre.

Also, that procedure for checking the firmware is literally impossible.
If it's at full lock right how do you hold the four buttons down and return it to center at the same time? You have to spin your arms around eachother.

You have to catch it as about 90 degrees before centre.

Email sent to Fanatec, lets hope I get a reply before Easter. The tech support line, which is a German phone number, is apparently open from 14h00 - 16h00 Monday to Friday. Really? Two hours a day? I know its a small company but that seems a little crazy too. I don't really want want to be on hold for 45 minutes to Germany. But an expensive phone call is better than an expensive paperweight.

Seriously, damned if you do and damned if you don't. S#!t sucks but we have no choice.

So my wheel is working again. This morning when I turned the wheel on nothing happened, no calibration and no LEDs. So I manually turn the wheel all the way to the left and start turning right. At about the centre point, the LEDs light up "8.8.8." and the motor takes over to the right side. Then it returns to centre with "---" on the screen. I connect the USB to my computer and its recognized. I go through the Fanatec utility and everything is recognized properly, including the full rotation of the wheel. I check the FW of the wheel (678) and update it to 681.

I haven't tried it with the PS3 yet, but I will after lunch.

Another update, the wheel works intermittently now. It often won't start up at all, when I push the power button there is no response. But if I persist in messing around with every connection and the power button it will eventually turn on. It has never failed on me once I got it "started." My friend jokes that its because I wasn't fully depressing the clutch...:dunce:
