Yeah, that's what I suspected. Reports of them being too stiff are meaningless to me because I run my V3s with probably not even a third as much travel as seen in that video. I pretty much want my brake pedal to be as stiff as possible but with just enough travel and give that I can precisely control my pressure. And also so I can hit the pedal HARD on initial application to mimic a more realistic real race car experience. I'm well aware that my setup has actually less travel than most real race cars, but having several inches of travel on a sim is just wasted motion for me. And I've been running stiff pedals for so long, it feels wrong and just makes me drive much worse because unlike a real car, there is no feeling a true bite point coming through the pedal and through your rear end. The braking retardation in a game is conveyed visually and not physically through your body, so I drive far, far better when I don't have to figure out where in a long pedal stroke the braking force I want lies. By running a stiffer pedal with little travel, I can repeatedly hit the peak pressure I want on initial strike, then trail off precisely without needing loads of travel to do so. Having all that travel is a waste of time, but that's just me. I realize a lot of people might try my setup and find it equally difficult to drive. But when I have friends try it, they seem to adapt to it quickly whereas it takes me quite some time to adapt to long brake pedals when I try other setups outside of my house.
Anyway, yeah, I will get the Podiums when the three-pedal set is available. Not too bothered about the haptics or lack thereof. I barely even register the haptics on my V3s anymore.

Quick question, i have csl 8nm, i have just upgraded the shaft to the simube mental one which was easy to do and made me wonder why it doesnt come as standard with that as its incredible to difference to me. The question is if i wanted to add an aftermarket wheel (a drift type one) can i do that without buttons as i'll use them on my keyboard, or must i have the expensive bit that has the buttons on it etc where you just bolt the wheel onto it... cheers.
 
On fanatec wheelbases you need a hub which will signal to the wheelbase that a steering wheel is connected.
The cheapest official option is the fanatec wheel hub (99€ in the eu, it's fairly new) with mounting option for 6x 70mm or 3/6x 50mm pattern steering wheels

What difference has the simube base-side QR made to you in comparison to the one provided by default by Fanatec?
 
so is it safe to update hardware? I neglected to do this for months based on neg feedback from couple months ago

On PS5 but will also be using for PC this month

Clubsport RS wheel

No issues just built a new PC and wondering if I should install and update on new PC or just keep old set up from laptop app that has not been updated since May

I’d read the forum notes for the versions that came after - there have been 4 releases after May, including the one that bumps up the NM on the DD Pro and issues w each

RS wheel is stable

Current FW works for PS regardless but PC app features may be important

Avoid 1.5.1.2

1.5.2.3 seems solid but I’m running a DD+ - so look for Pro users comments

1.5.3.1 came out today, so might be a bit new

Read the changelogs and comments

Or stay w the same version used on your old PC to start if you’re happy

Im down to update just wasn't sure if any of the new updates still makes the experience bad

Just feels more solid, no creaking although that never really bothered me, its one of those upgrades where you just think 'why didnt they do that anyway out the box?' And aside from that it just looks so much better.
 
Over on the Fanatec forum I’ve been watching the FW/App update threads and a week ago several posts about this issue came up:

Podium DD + QR2 – Wheel suddenly not detected / fixed by manually reflashing QR firmware

Maurice replied w this:

“This is a known issue with the bootloader on CS DD and new P DD Bases which can suddenly happen out of nowhere from time to time. This can not be fixed via firmware as it needs a new bootloader flash which can only be done by the technical support inhouse.

Workaround for users at home is indeed to simply reflash the QR Firmware to get everything working again.

What customers can do at home is just to workaround the issue, not fix the issue, by re-flashing the QR which solves the issue in the moment where it happens - until it can come back at every time randomly.

There is no unit shipped with new bootloader as of now”

I posted these questions earlier this week - no Fanatec response yet

  • What triggers this? Firmware install or something else?
  • Specific FW version(s)? Or could any FW install up or back cause it?
  • Does it affect all units or only certain production runs? SN range would be really helpful if this is the case
  • What is the return process and approximate turnaround time?
  • Are older units w expired warranty covered? Do I have to pay the shipping - for something not my fault?

Anyone else w any info or experience w this? I had not seen this until recently so seems like maybe FW related?

It appears that the RMA reflash restores the exisiting function w same booloader code but may not eliminate the possibility of the problem as a revision to the code is maybe needed

My DD+, out of warranty, is working fine and has had no issues w updates in the past, but this is concerning and ATM I’m reluctant to update further
