Having a problem getting my GT2 to work on the ps3 through usb. I've had my GT2 since Christmas Eve and have used it with the ps3 a few times last week using usb. I have been mainly putting it through it's paces on my pc without a problem, through usb. Last night went to fire up some gt5 again and nothing. What's strange is it still works fine on the pc using usb. Also if I use the dongle from my PWTS and pair it to the GT2 it works fine on the ps3. I've tried 3 different ps3's (slim 160gb, slim 120gb, launch 60gb). Tried a bunch of different usb cables including the one that works on the pc. This is driving me crazy. I don't want to have to keep using the pwts's dongle. Anybody else having a problem like this?

Now this issue I have never had. The PS3 always "sees" the GT2. I have never used the dongle though, always just direct to the USB port of the PS3.

Are you able to get the GT2 to go into PS3 mode once you have it connected?

It only goes into ps3 mode through the dongle. I can't get it to go into ps3 mode through the usb. It's strange, when the wheel first came I played gt5 for a few days using usb, then switched to pc, so I am stumped.

Yeah, I've tried the usb port with other things. The dongle works in it, so does a ps2 usb headset. Plus like I said, I tried the wheel with usb on 3 ps3's, so I'm pretty confident it's not the port.

Have you tried port #1? It's the leftmost port on the PS3's. I'm just saying this since I know that in GT4 you need to hook up the wheel to port 1 to use it.

Ok, have you tried reinstalling the firmware? Is this possible?

Not sure if that's possible, the wheel came with the latest firmware. Hopefully Thomas will see this and have some insight into the problem. I wouldn't mind using the dongle but we use it for the turbo s, plus the gt2 suffers the same random second long disconnects from the dongle as the turbo s does, very annoying.

If the unit wont go into PS3 mode then it may have an issue. I have been able to put the unit in PS3 mode and use it on the PC. The PC sees it as a G25/G27 wheel and off it goes.

Tried the turbo s in the same port of one of the ps3's and it had no problem going into ps3 mode. Another strange thing, tried putting it in ps3 mode on the pc like you said RC and it went right into the mode. Seems like the wheel just isn't seeing when the ps3 is connected or something.

I tried reassigning the controller already. Tried it with the controller off, turning the ps3 on with the controller, turning on the controller after the ps3. My turbo s doesn't matter what the controller is assigned to. I seriously don't think it's anything I'm doing. It will just not go into ps3 mode when connected to a ps3 via usb. Looks like I'll need to get in contact with support I guess. This sucks, this is my second problem with a fanatec product, when I got my turbo s my csp's had a sticking brake pedal, that took months to get fixed, and they aren't even the way I want them, but atleast they work. Didn't feel like the hassle of waiting months more to get them perfect.

If I were you I'd send support a message and drop Thomas a pm. They have a lot of GT2s on their way to them so I don't think you'll be waiting long.

Well sent an email to e-support this morning, we'll see how long this takes. Hopefully it won't take too long. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Heard back from support next day, they asked me to make a better video so they could see the connections and buttons I pushed. Haven't heard back since. Now there's another problem, my standard pedals arrived that I will be using with the GT2. When I fire up the gt2, it does it's calibration like normal. Then when I push the back button to go into pc mode, the damn thing spins 180 degrees counter clockwise. When I first turned it on with the pedals connected, damn thing nearly broke 2 of my fingers!! Wasn't expecting the wheel to spin. Hopefully I hear back from support to tell them about this now too. I'm trying so hard not to get fed up with Fanatec, but having orderd items twice and having problems both times definately makes it hard. On top of that, having to wait a long time to get problems resolved. It's a shame too, when everything works right, they are awsome products.

That is normal sixstring, my pwts has always quickly spun 180 deg when going to pc mode before going to ps3 mode.

Wow DV, that's crazy. I have a pwts also with clubsports though, it has never done that. Took the standards and hooked them up to the pwts, sure enough, you're right. Kind of strange it only does it with the standard pedals though. A warning on the pedals or wheel would be helpful saying standard pedals will cause wheel to spin. Guess I'll have to grab another set of clubsports when I get the cash.

Trust me Bscary, I've tried everything. It just won't connect to the ps3 unless I use my pwts's dongle. Something definately wrong with the wheel.

Im not using standards, Im using g25 pedals. crazy times.

Well here we are, a little more than 2 weeks later and I haven't heard a damn thing. I'm getting so very frustrated, just dunno what to do. On top of not hearing anything, if I use my turbo s's dongle to play I have to have the damn thing plugged into a usb extension cord so it can sit about 4 inches from the wheel or else it loses it's connection like crazy. Can somebody explain to me how the hell that is wireless? It feels like a damn waste of time to even try to use it without being able to directly connect it to the ps3. Hopefully I hear something soon, this is just ridiculous. If I have to wait months again like I did for my clubsport pedal problem I'm gonna go bezerk. lol Getting problems resovled should not take this long.

The wireless dongle is most likely getting a lot of interference if it has to sit 4 inches away from the wheel(this site has some information on reducing the interference). Hope you get your usb problems fixed soon.

The pwts is for another ps3, we have races online at my place so both wheels are usually being used, or atleast trying to be used. Just want my problem fixed. It's kind of annoying seeing people saying that they got their replacement wheel or whatever in two weeks while some of us don't even get a reply in that time. As for the interference, I have problems with random disconnects no matter what room, wheel (gt2 or pwts), or distance. Sometimes it drops for an instant, other times a few seconds. If I could do the direct usb connection I would, wired is always my first choice.

Ok, this just keeps getting better and better. Since playing on the ps3 is such a PITA, I decided I would jump back into some forza for a bit while I wait for a reply from fanatec support. Now the wheel or shaft has seem to come loose or something. I can move the wheel side to side. Plus there seems to be a huge deadzone now when turning from center to the left and the force feedback seems weaker when the wheel is turned to the left. This wheel just seems to be turning into a nightmare. Hopefully I get this replaced soon, it has become pretty much unusable. Thomas if you see this, could you please lite a fire under supports rear and get my wheel situation resolved.

I had a similar problem not connecting to ps3 with USB moved the USB to the other slot on the ps3 with everything was on and did the button press and it connected just fine. Hope that helps

Sounds like Sixstrings wheel fell apart :/ And no real answer to this issue as I'm having the same thing but I'm trying to hook it up for the first time to a PS3, xbox worked great!

I get it in PC mode but it simply won't go into PS3 mode... I've tried everything here and just doesn't register... the wheel is new and in perfect condition...

I am having the same issue. I purchased around xmas and now it will not activate ps3 mode. I have barely used this wheel and tried to give it another go after getting frustrated with the pedals. (Brake preasure is a pain in the arse). Guess ill try to attempt contacting customer service. Pretty dissapointed with this wheel, the $150 Logitech wheel was a lot better.
