Hi there. I'm new to the whole sim-racing thing but I thought I'd give it a try.

I bought a wheel off eBay but I'm pretty sure it came with the wrong (and insufficient) power supply. Can anyone confirm with me what the official Fanatec GT3 RS power supply is supposed to look like? Mine's a generic universal that states Max 12V .45A when clearly the bottom of the wheel says 24V 2.5A. I haven't plugged it in for fear that it might cause some issues.

If it's the wrong one, any idea where I can snag an adapter that would work? Is this common enough that a Radio Shack or WalMart might carry one?

Thanks!

Definitely the wrong AC adapter. You need a 24 volt, 2.5 amp for your wheel. Not sure where you can get one.....Fanatec obviously but perhaps a google search could reveal a source for you.

I can confirm that you need 2.5a 24V for GT3 RS.
You should be able to buy one in stores, since Fanatec doesn't use their own power supply (they use an universal one).

Can you verify if it's centre positive or centre negative? I don't accidentally want to reverse the polarity. I may rip open a hole in the space-time continuum.

There should be a picture just like the one I posted on the adapter somewhere :) My wheel doesn't have the diagram on it so I'm not sure which it SHOULD be!

Specs for my GT2 power supply: 2.5A, 24V output, positive polarity on the center pin.

Take those specs and your wheel down to your local Radio Shack and find a universal AC adapter that matches the electrical output specs, then test fit the various available pins in your wheel until you find one that fits.

Neither Radio Shack or Wal-Mart sells them. Don't have many other options in town. Looks like I'll be ordering from online somewhere. Does the connection end of the power brick have a name? Is there a special size for it that I need? I'd had to order one and find out it doesn't fit into the wheel.

I bought one myself here in blighty (UK)
It cost a whopping £55.

It is however a multiple Volt one with various Adapters. The guy assured me it's the best in the buisiness. It can power lap tops etc, built in safety protection etc.

It was my last choice as I couldn't find one anywhere.

Trying to find the make for you mate.

It says AI on the power brick. Digital AC adapter.
I took my wheel into the store and they sorted it out.

Urrghh evil number.

Googled it and it came up with digital camera?

Will try to find box tomorrow. I'm off to sleep now matey.

I'm a little confused now. I went poking around the wheel again and saw this:

I don't recall where I saw 2.5A. But everyone on this forum is confirming I need 2.5A. But the wheel shows the above. (This is what happens when you're sleepy.)

Do I still need the 2.5A adapter or .5A? Which one is it?
