is anyone else having problems with overheating on the GT3 RS while playing GT5. If I play more than 20 mins, I can't bare the vibration from the fan due to overheating... curious to know if this is a normal problem or should I contact support?

Thanks guys....

I highly doubt that's normal, and like I stated in my other thread, it's better to get the Thrustmaster instead of a Fanatec due to customer support alone, not trying to be a dick, but if it's deemed faulty I would see what you can do to get your money back somehow and go for the better performing Thrustmaster, if you want to keep the Fanatec then from what I can see, good luck mate! haha, seriously though, hope you get it solved, keep us posted then.

If he is, he is certainly casting a poor light on the companies ethics, morals, administrative maturity and public relations.

It is normal that the temperature controlled fan starts working after some time. It has nothing to do with overheating.

I don't think it's normal for a small fan to vibrate excessively to the point of annoyance, if it was me i would definitely be contacting support although well yea i don't need to say........

It should not be over cooking in 20mins that is a fault some were.
My 2 year old abused daily G25 takes at least 1 hour to cook the motors, and really hard abuse 45 mins.

If I am honest dont go for a thrust master just yet they really have not been out long enough to be recommended they may be sweet now but who knows what problems may occur with the wheel later on.
And plus a clutch with no shifter for all that money yea ok then......NOT!!.

You should contact support if your fan is vibrating. You are having problems with the fan and not with overheating. It's normal that the fan starts to spin and that's to PREVENT overheating, not because the wheel IS overheating.

I agree that 20min to vibrate to the point of annoyance is unacceptable for a premium product, but then you mention thrustmaster and your first point is very valid imo about waiting a few months to see any problems etc..
But to then mention the clutch with no shifter?? You talk like there is no shifter going to be availiable and for that $599 you dont have an option to get a shifter when it becomes availiable.
You don't mention that in that $599 you get a wheel that compares to a $1200-2000 frex or Ecci wheel.
If you dont have $599 to spend on a wheel that's fine not everybody does, but please don't spout off about the shifter because you can't make the t500rs wheel + a Top quality shifter for $599, it's just not possible. Don't compare to fanatec or G27 price because ISR said the T500 makes the fanatec/g27 feel like a toy. What part of that do you people not understand?

Do people magically think if it came with a shifter it would still be $599? LOL...Don't complain about the price and no shifter, would you rather pay $799-849 up front or $599 and pay the other $200approx in 2-3 months.. If you had the money to buy one you wouldn't be concerned because the shifter is coming and if you have $600 for a wheel then you have $100-200 for a proper H-gate shifter. Anyone else is purely a dreamer who will nitpick any little thing to provide a reason to people why they won't purchase something, when in reality it is the green eyed monster talking and their bankroll simply doesn't support such a purchase.

ISR also said there is nowhere to plug a shifter in. Now can we forget about the T500 and consentrate on helping the OP?

I don't care about any of that if I pay for a wheel I want a shifter simple as and to pay that much money and then have to pay more later for a shifter is a JOKE!!.
And like its been said there has been no say on shifter for the wheel non at all
and there is no were for it to plug in.

As for the over heating you should get that sent back while you can, but its good to see fanatec have equipped them with fans to cool them unlike logitech.

Well the T500 game support is a joke... And if you pay 600$ only to play GT5 than you must have a lot of money... I would wait and see if there will be patches for F12010, Shift and other racing games... Also it does not even work on PC... Time will tell... I would also be carefull to buy this wheel...

But the problems with the fanatec wheels are huge, I read more often about broken wheels and pedals than working wheels and pedals... I hope mine will work when I get them...

ISR also said the GT2 was the best wheel for GT5 two weeks before they got their T500. Their opinion doesn't mean much to me.

There is no way that a small fan could make wheel to vibrate unless fan blade is hitting something.

the problem with Fanatec is the Service , you right, I called the German number last week and got an auto message, " Call between 2 an 3 local German time for help", did that and got the same message... Love my Wheel but they honestly Fanatec have the worst service and slowest delivery I've ever experienced... Guess I better get cracking on my emails to them...
Thanks to all that replied...

forgot to mention the wheel was bought in September and is the V2 version with the newest firmware also...

seems weird, my fan isn't noisy at all on my Turbo S. As for the guy saying buy TM, that's fine if you like to only play one game and use run of the mill pedals.

My Turbo S and GT2 fans are only audible when the game is paused (sort of a higher pitched purr/whir). And they don't cause any appreciable vibration. I'd say fan vibration is not normal. The fan kicking in IS normal these higher end Fanatec and Thrustmaster wheels need fans due to the stronger, hotter-running motors.

The T500 RS supports one PS3 game right now. No telling if future PS3 will support it. It'll soon support numerous PC games when drivers are finalized.

As for the pedals: they may not be as nice as a set of ClubSports, but in no way are they run of the mill.

Hope you get that figured out but it sounds like it may only be a bad fan.

A little off topic but...

I may be wrong about this but I'm not sure that the T500 doesn't have a place to plug in a shifter. It's possible that the RJ45-like input used for the pedals may accept the shifter and pedals at once. Perhaps the only thing required is some sort of adapter or pig-tail to divide the cabling.

Hahaha, no, I can play that card too pal: Do you work for Fanatec? If so, your certainly doing everything you just said. :dopey:

Get over yourself, no I I infer the consensus and recommend what the better wheel is for certain applications.

I don't really care about maybe's and what if's.

I reccomend the fanatec because I have owned every ffb logitech wheel, and I have now owned the pwts for over a year. Never had a single problem and have nothing but praise for the product. It is the ONLY wheel that works on all 3 platforms, and is compatible with everything under the sun. Hell you can even use pedals from other brands of wheel with it if you want to mix and match. The one person that I know personally that did have a problem with a fanatec went straight to thomas about it and thomas personally saw that it was fixed within a few days for him.

You INSIST people buy the thrustmaster (a wheel that is incompatible with everything at the moment and is yet to be proven in terms of reliability) because you read about it on the internet....go figure.

Look, go buy one, Use it every day for atleast 8 months. AND THEN feel free to reccomend it to everybody. But for the sake of your reputation and integrity on these forums, stop insisting people buy something based on its claimed quality when you have absolutely no freaking experience with it to speak of whatsoever. The more you insist other people buy something that you dont own yourself and have never even actually seen with your own 2 eyes, the sillier you look and the less likely it is that people will listen to you.

To the OP. Try updating your wheel to the latest firmware, It runs the fan slightly faster when its cool to keep it that way, instead of ramping up the fan to 100% once it starts to get warm. That might get you out of trouble and prevent actually having to change some parts.

Spoke with Fanatec support in Germany today, they said this it is a usual problem with the exhaust fan in the unit. Told me to unscrew the cover, use the wheel until its start giving the problems, take off cover and inspect to see which fan is vibrating. They then will send me 2 new fans and also a new center sensor which is giving problems too. I know my wheel was only bought in August, but I really couldn't be arsed waiting forever to get a new one sent over from Fanatec's brutal delivery times, even though they never offered... Will keep ye posted on how it turns out, hopefully this will help someone else with this issue...

Did you actually talk to someone or do you mean via email?

I love the fact Fanatec is willing to simply send parts out for easy fixes instead of having to ship things back and forth.

spoke to someone, but wasn't my first time trying to... They emailed me the details then.
