Hey guys.

I just finished about a 1 hour session of simraceway, and my GT3RS now feel warms and is producing a slight odor. It's not a full-on "oh my god this is horribly burnt" smell, but there is an undeniable smell emitting from its vents.

Is this normal? I don't want to jump to conclusions, but as a bit of a hypochondriac I can't help it sometimes.

Thanks.

They can get toasty, I have had a few.
I always have mine set so Fans are always on.

I'm in SW desert too, during AC weather -
I drop the thermostat down a couple of degrees in the room I use for my sim stuff.
I also run a large ceiling fan directly overhead.

The cooler you can get it, the happier it will be.
Try not to run it straight for more than an hour if you can.
Reducing FFB will also keep it cooler.

When you say turn fans to always on, do you mean on the wheel itself or just using a desk fan? I haven't seen an option for that anywhere in the wheel's driver settings.

When you turn the wheel on and --- is showing up top, you have to hold the 4 bottom buttons all at once, meaning lsb, rsb, x, & o. That will show you both your current firmware & set the fans on or off. I highly recommend keeping fans on at all times if you do longer races.

Give this a try and let me know how you make out. thanks!

How to check your GT2/GT3 wheel's firmware & fan settings.

Note you may need an extra set of hands depending on your dexterity.

Power up the wheel, let the wheel rotate completely in one direction, and wait for the wheel to rotate back in the opposite direction.

Grab the wheel gently with both hands no later than 90 degrees prior to it finishing the second rotation without counter-acting the flow of the wheels' rotation to avoid undue stress on the internal belt.

Do not let go of the wheel at this point, press down simultaneously on the four lower buttons located at the 9 O'clock and 3 O'clock positions on the wheel's two horizontal spokes and gently bring it back to the center position while keeping all 4 buttons pressed down.

The firmware version will briefly be displayed followed by ON or OFF.
ON = Internal fans constantly on.
OFF = Internal fans are temperature controlled.

Repeat the process to shift fans between ON and OFF.

Thanks for the info guys--I really appreciate it.

I'll go ahead and test this out when I next get a chance, probably tomorrow afternoon.

One clarification though: Do I have to "grab" the wheel and stop it during the second rotation upon bootup? Or am I just waiting for its calibration to finish? Jogo's instructions make it sound like you have to forcefully stop the wheel or something like that. Sorry if I'm over-thinking this.

Don't grab and stop it, grab and flow with it to the stop so you don't put strain on the internal belts.
2nd rotation after you turn the power button on the right side of the wheel.
