My CSW V2 is scheduled to be delivered on Dec 24 and I plan to attach it to my new gaming PC. I also have the CSP v2 and the CSS SQ v1. The pedals and shifter are currently attached to my CSR-E wheel.

Gaming on the PC gives me the option of attaching the pedals and shifter to the wheel directly via USB ports on the PC or attaching them to the wheel and only attaching the wheel to the PC.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of hooking up the pedals and shifter directly to the PC versus attaching them to the wheel??

Either is easy to implement but I might as well choose that which has the most advantages.

The main advantage is that the pedals have more resolution when connecting directly to the PC. Not sure about the shifter.

Disadvantages are more USB slots being used and if you did want to connect to a console you would have to change it back.

That is good to know. I suppose it comes down to the resolution that the game you are playing looks at.

It is stated by Fantec that you get more resolution by plugging the Fanatec pedals directly to the PC by USB however, I've never seen an actual number on how much resolution you get when plugging them into the wheel. That being said if you do a google search for "sim pedal resolution", there's an article where they compared the Heusinkveld Pro and Ultimate pedals to the Fanatec CSP v2's and they talk about pedal resolution and basically say that while the Heusinkveld's have much more resolution when measured, they can't tell an actual difference in the real world so it makes you wonder if pedal resolution is even noticeable or just a measure of better accuracy using test equipment. Fanatec gives you the option of both connections but I haven't noticed any difference in accuracy either way and I actually have my CSR Elites connected to my CSSW v2 at the moment because you can't use them on the PS3 if they're not connected to the wheel. Since I wanted to be able to use my CSW v2 and CSR Elite's on the PC and PS3, I just leave them connected to the wheel.
