Was the overheating issue on the Turbo S ever fully resolved? The problem being after extended game play, the motor would overheat and thus stop transmitting force feedback effects?

I'm considering buying a used one, but the seller mentioned it does suffer from this issue. I'm curious if the problem was remedied by firmware updates.

I have never suffered this at all, I have one of the first pre order pwts and It has sat through 8-10 hour long play sessions at partys and all sorts. The second firmware upped the fans to max and had them on permanent. If there was an overheating issue this would have fixed it. As I said though I have never encountered the issue before or after the firmware update.

My turbo s works fine. I just ran an endurance event with it. I have never heard of overheating problems on fanatec wheels.

The actual instruction manual discusses the problem. It was obviously an issue since they addressed it in a FW upgrade. I'm just wondering how good that FW upgrade was to addressing it since the seller of the one I'm considering buying mentioned that was an issue with their unit. IE: Smart buy if I can simply reflash FW. If FW didn't really fix anything, then I"m not gonna buy it.

This problem is documented in the owners manual. If anyone that has had this problem, please let me know if it was solved by FW upgrade.

Hi, it isn't a problem, that a protection mechanism as been fitted. Wise even if its not used much, exceptional cirumstances etc.
Under certain circumstances can mean anything. When & why (will it get above designed temp), if at all, in all circumstances, needs real life info.
FFB is dependant on Game, Game settings, Fanatec wheel settings etc. So it is likely very strong FFB, long play time or a combination, can cause protection to kick in, when ?
Fanatec have said, prob on this forum ? something like( can't remember exact details), they tested one wheel in China(which one ?), 24/7 for a week or whatever. Maybe protection kicked in then ? Or even thou test is a bit extreme, a motor burned out, so they fitted protection, who knows ?
Lots of peeps have these wheels on this forum, at least info from them, is real life usage. So worth noting, even thou everyones usage is different ie Games, settings, time played etc.
Not long ago someone posted about one Fanatec wheel, FFB was that strong(Game settings, Wheel settings etc), it was being ripped out of his hands at times, being just a Gaming wheel, prob best to turn down FFB a bit :) , you can see protection kicking in at some point in time, i would imagine.
You will see probs thou, been thousands(think one wheel had one batch size of 10,000 ?), of these wheels sold.

Cheers BOB

I got a Turbo S wheel back in October and I keep the fans on all of the time with the new firmware update. The update is a little tricky to install but if you read the directions carefully it works well and if the first attempt dose not work restart your computer and start over again. I used a infered temp guage to test the wheel after an 8 hours of racing and the temp was only 78 degrees F.

Well the seller says his does this pretty fast in...so i guess ill skip it since it doesnt seem like anyone has first hand experience with the prob and fixing it. I was hoping i could salvage it...ah well.
