if you could take any engine, chassis, tire and driver from 2005 and/or before what would you do and where would you take it?

for me i'd take hondas engine and put it in renaults chassis with mclarens michelin tires with ms driving. the honda engine because of its power, the renault chassis because of its great mix of reliability and speed the tires because they have been good this year when they held on for a race. ms because i think he could still squeezing out another would championship givin a good car. i'd take it to canada because i like the long straight after the hairpin. i think its a good track.

2002 Ferrari F2002 Chassis - Proven to be one of the best F1 cars ever, should be a good basis then :)

1993 Williams FW15 suspension - Basically because it was probably the most advanced suspension (arguably the most advanced car, ever built)

I don't know about the engine...two main choices I suppose. Either one of the current lumps (2005 BAR Honda's engine or the 2005 Ferrari engine (Honda for the absolute outright power or Ferrari for the name and reliability)) or one of the turbo engines from the 80s (probably the 1.5 BMW V6 with 1400hp).

Aero package would be a mixture of the 2002/2003 Ferrari's aero components and would also incorporate ground effect technology (probably from Williams the year before it was banned)

Transmission - The CVT gearbox Williams were trying to develop but got banned before it was introduced. No gearchanges to slow the acceleration or to upset the balance of the car during changes.

Not sure about the tyres, probably Bridgestone's 2002 or 2003 tyre but fully slick, no grooves.

Brakes are largely unimportant I suppose. Anything from the last couple of years.

Driver would have to be Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna (if we're talking fantasy F1 here anyway). Preferably there'd be two cars available and both Schumacher and Senna could attend :)

edit: Did you edit your post to limit it to 2005? I didn't see that when I started my reply.

If it's just from 2005 then I'd say the McLaren driven by M Schumacher.

Honda engine, Honda chassis. Honda factory ownership. E. Honda from Streetfighter is the driver.

Because he's used to like 100g's while driving so fast.

Engine: Cosworth from this year (RBR has only had the one engine failure so far...)

Chassis: Renault, nice bit of understeer..

Tyres: Michelins 05 spec

Drivers: (well since i can't have me...) Fernando Alonso and Damon Hill.

Test Driver: De La Rosa

Heck I'll even do sponsors: Main: Microsoft, they can sort out all the telemartry then...
Secondary: Nokia.

Livery: Base is a light green with some white slashes down the middle then on top would be a mixtrue of blue and black 'scratch' designs.

Just wanted to point out that the 1400 hp BMW was an I4, not a V6 like the others of the time (Honda).

This is what I would have for my ideal F1 car.

Chassis: Ferrari F2004 - arguably one of the most dominant cars in F1 history.

Engine: 2005 Honda V10 - most powerful V10 in F1 today.

Tires: Hard to say with this one. If we are allowed to change tires, then it would have to be the Bridgestone's from either 2002 or 2004. If we're going with current rules, then it would have to be the Michelin's.

Driver: Michael Schumacher - nothing needs to be said.

Why is everyone saying that?

Kimi set the current official speed record for a F1 car in Monza with 370,1 km/h in the McLaren Mercedes .

Yes but thats with certain aero parts at certain settings, outright power goes to Honda.

Then the engine would blow up...

Toyota engine is ment to be rather powerful and reliable.

Yep but unlike BAR they know how to use it to its full potential.

i dunno how many people are still working there from back before they became bar but they must be up to their old tricks this season. last year they must have been on vacation.

whats the honda engine making now? something like 950hp isnt it?

Yeah around that but i've heard that Honda could be in the process of making a 1000hp lump in time for the Chinese GP....

No, the new engine for Suzuka is the last new spec. of engine for BAR.

Wonder if it will finish the race ....

Oh ok, and yeah that would be pretty bad if their last spec of engine fails to finish...

Lately though they have had good reliability...

Just a shame Sato is a bull.... he hates red things.

He likes Suzuka though, he'd want to put on a really good show at his (and Honda's) home track if he wants to keep his job next year.

Blake

they have said before they could make an engine with well over 1000hp. i think if it wasnt for all these stupid multi race engine rules 1100hp could have been possible.

Yeah, but so could every other team .... but they must adapt to the new rules, as does every other team.

Why they are still developing a V10 engine is beyond me, it might be wise to concentrate on the next 3 years and work hard on the V8. Ditto to Renault.

Blake

honda are perfectionests. honda has had more wings on their car this year then all the teenagers in la. they of course need to have a suzuka special.

I think last year BMW has the strongest engine ? I think its one of the best V10s on the grid the problem is WilliamsF1 suck :D

Williams have huge downforce/drag issues. This is really evident by their top speeds which are usually a good 10km or more down on the leaders.

Cosworth is a very good engine, since Kevin bought it they started really developing the engine and this year they have a really good engine.

Wasn't Spa their first or second engine failure of the season?
