Far Cry anyone?

I know its an oldish game now, but i just picked it up cheap and now i cant stop playing it...but i am stuck.

any experts out there?

I am at the part where you have to sink the ship containing the antenna. 3/4 through the game. Crow comes at you in a helicopter and i am trying to blast him with the rocket launcher but he is too fast for me. I keep getting killed. Any tips?
 
you have to hit him about 10 times with the rocket. you can also use the rpg attatchment on the oicw or that other gun. i got past it by fighting him near the opposite side of the ship (opposite of the bomb) and i just used the big metal box containers as cover.

you could also hide in the cabin but you;ll have less time before being submerged there

the rpg attatchment from the OICW fires pretty damn quickly so i used that 1st. then i used the rocket launcher.
 
thanks for the tips, i have the OICW gun so i'll give that a try...

what are best 4 weapons to take into future levels?

i have the r/launcher, machine gun, OICW and Sniper rifle.
 
I'd say you should just take those. The game gets pretty twisted from there on out I believe, but I don't want to ruin anything for you. :p If you really want to change them, get rid of the RL and take the G36. BTW, which machine gun do you have, the SAW or the P90? Either or, they are both good guns.

I loved this game, and have beaten it 3 times. Now that I have FEAR and BF2, I don't really play it anymore. It's graphics are still amazing, and when I do play it, it's nice because it doesn't kill my system.

^ yeah it depends on your playstyle. I play the game sorta like rambo. I wish the game had a bow and arrow in it lol.

i have a very similar system to yours
300+ @2.3ghz sapphire x800gto flashed to XL, (768mb)DDR400 ram. game runs like a dream

Heather got me this game early for my birthday. I tried to play it in the full settings but it does not play right and the water isnt even close to looking like the back of the box. It doesnt reflect like its supposed to. I even have the water setting set to ultra high. I can play FEAR on the highest settings with no problems and in 1280 but cant with Far Cry. Is there a patch or something I need?
Also I cant seem to get online and I cant find the map maker anywhere.
My main question is about the "Renderer" It sais I have Direct3D9 but it wont allow me to pick anything for it. Here is a pic of what I am talking about. My PC should easily be able to run this game.

Patches.. You'll definitely need a couple of patches !...

And agreed to the original poster - Awesome Game.. I should replay it...
 
Thank you soo much for the quick replies. Now where and how do I get to the patches? I still cant get online or find the mapmaker anywhere.
So far the game looks great and I cant believe the bullet holes stay in the enemies heads and other parts of the flesh. Cant wait to see it after the patches.
 
i got the game brand new last year, installed it and it kept freezing up and the water was poor and it ran slow.

i downloaded the latest patch from ubi soft and it ran a treat. i keep the general graphics setting quite lowish and the game flies on my relatively low spec PC.

this game needs to run fast, you need quick reflexes so there is no point in looking at the beautiful grahics on a slow machine while some merc shoots the hell out of you...

I posted my results of the patches in post 14 of this thread. Now I am running everything in the highest possible settings and it runs flawless and beautiful. Check out the link I posted of the Far cry pics in post 14.
Thank you for posting the link to the map maker thread. When I get a chance I will check that out for sure. Looks like some very creative maps and some of them arent jungle oriented at all. :)
