I searched and thought is was rather odd not to already have a thread on this game. Maybe GTP is still sketchy for that?

Anyway, I hear a lot of talk about this game being good. Is it worth get?

Thanks

yes yes its worth the 20 bucks :D. i'll run fraps and take some screenshots later. the game gets better and better as you progress.

sorta like fear except its outdoors and indoors, from day to night on an island+ the facilities on the islands. You run into smarter, more specialized soldiers as you progress into the game. And... there are the trigens which i wont go into much detail about :D but they spice up the game alot.

It plays sorta like Rambo meets The island of dr. maroo. There's a bit of strategy to the gunfights. like if you take out the radios before attacking, the badguys cant call for backup. there's no melee except for a knife.

If you want to push your PC to its limit, buy it. The games has some great graphics. I played the game a bit, but i was only walking around, not shooting.

Hmmm... unfortunately I think this guy might be right if that's how this game is. It sounds cheezy. :lol:

BTW, Thanks Matrix.

Actually, it's an awesome game. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the difficulty goes from normal to insanely difficult near the end of the game. It was the only game that I was so frustrated with that I had to cheat to beat it. I never cheat in order to finish a game but Far Cry proved too hard for me to finish normally.

Gabkicks

I watched the vid but I was neither wowwed or impressed. FEAR still seemed better all around. I guess part of it is I like darkness better and FarCry has always had some colors that do not reflect a fighting game. :lol: Oh well, thanks guys. The voices are kinda gay too.

If I find a demo I'll try it out.

edit: Tried it, Was hard but pretty cool. A unique game. would I play it ehh... dunno. 👍

It's not cheesy one bit, i've been playing Far Cry ever since the day it was released for PC, fun as hell game. And just got the Xbox on Instincts wich is also just as fun, but not nearly as good grapphics. Farcry for PC as extremly good graphics, but not quit good as HL2 but around the Doom 3.

It does get rather difficult in the end, but I'm proud to say I finished it without cheating.

A very good game.

i'm at the part where i'm starting to run into the toxic gasses and i'm trying to excape the complex. Very easy to die around these parts :D

I got this game and loved it from day one, ive still got it installed just so i can pop in onec in a while to have a blast, stick the dificulty upto the highest and turn on the adaptive AI and it becomes a real challenge.

Graphics 10/10 (although i cant turn it up to max on my pc, but have seen it running on other pcs and its sweet)

Game play 8/10 some parts can be a bit similar to standard FPS fair, but the enviroments offer up different approches to the same dilema and hunting people in overgrown jungle its spot on, not to mention the night time sniping)

Longevity 8/10 put it on easy and it could be completed in around 2 to 2 1/2 days, but stick it on the hardest settings with the adaptive AI option and its a nicely hard game.

Everyone who said that FarCry is an awesome game... well...

You're absolutely correct !... I loved it the moment I saw the first screenshots. And who dictated that an FPS has to be dark and murky ?.. I love the beautiful scenes at perimeter of the island. The sandy beaches, nice bright palmtrees and light blue water... (Remember to punch the fish when swimming :) )

I own it, but I haven't progressed very far in it. Might have to fire it up again and give it another go.

I too love the outdoor theme though. 👍

The first few levels of FarCry were just amazing; running through jungle, swimming through water etc. it was great. Got a bit rubbish in the middle and really rubbish at the end (you with rocket launcher vs. 20 stupidly hard enemies), but at least the story went back into the jungle towards the end. I still play through the beginning of the game just for a laugh.

The only FPS that my mum has played and enjoyed (although she refused to shoot anyone), so it must be pretty special. I usually get the comment being shouted into my room "It sounds like WW2 in there!!!" to which i shout back "IT IS!" if playing COD2 and "WW3 actually!" if i'm playing BF2.

Really hope they bring out a FarCry sequel, just without the 'non-human enemies'.

^ how were they stupidly hard? i expected the elite mercenaries to be very aggressive. and really big armoured monsters should be pretty hard to take down

i like the monsters ingame. :) it adds more of a sense of tension. and of course the more elite soldiers are gonna be more aggressive and have better aim.

Well i was hoping that the game would be human oriented and the bits that were were fun. The enemies at the end (volcano level) ok weren't hard but the fact that i was in a situation of having to battle a large group of 20 foot tall mutants with rocket launchers for arms annoyed me. I would have loved FarCry if it was 100% human oriented, for some reason the mutants just annoyed me.

Theres some what of a sequal to it on Xbox, but this one you get mutated and it's all wiered, but it's fun after you get mutated cause you can run around and when you see someone go run up to him and punch him (no knife :() and then they go flying back 20 feet :)

There will be a sequel for Far Cry, but it won't have that title, due to EA's purchase of Crytek (if I'm not mistaken). It won't be released until Vista is released, due to it's usage of DirectX 10. So all you 32bit processors out there, sorry... you get no cake. :D

The new title is "supposed" to also come with less glitches, faults, coding errors, and display impurities. So yay to that, considering that's what drove me away from the title in the first place.

:odd: So, eventually all 32bit users are screwed? and will have no choice but to get Vista which is the same crap but in 64bit? :grumpy:

Wow, Great... Oh well I'm covered :sigh: I already spent the big chunk for the damn car... now all I gotta do is buy the damn license for the road that will last... what 6mo. ? :dopey:

Legend...

Car = Puter
Road = damn OS
Me = :rolleyes:

A 64 bit cpu costs about 70 quid. You can hardly complain at that tbh, and no one is forcing you to buy the game.

Agree 100%. Also the game needs Resident Evil 4 style lit location things. When I shoot someone in the leg, I wanna see em fall over etc.
