Fastest 0-100%

Righty - I've searched - found nada..

Managed to rack up close to 9% on my statistics yesterday and is currently at 79.5% and holding. Those 9% to quite a couple of hours. So the question is :

How fast can you go from a 0% save to 100%. Say you have a week off - is that possible ?. And I'm not talking about an F1 to each race thingy, but keeping things competitive...

How fast can this be done ?... How fast HAVE you done it ? (My save is a year+ old.....)
 
I'd say take a look at my compendium and start adding the race times together. The F1 races alone are combined to well over 9 hours. The enduro's are 12 or so hours. The PD cup is 8 hours. Then again, the entire rally section can be done in a marathon 8 hour session. I think that the Beginner section can be done in 8 or less.

The 9% I did yesterday were mostly Amateur Championships and one Pro... Took about 11 hours all in all, so I suspect that it can be done in a week given enough dedication, this of course requiring that you have the week off :mischievous:

it might be interesting to put this challenge to the 100% club...see how those guys do it.

me, i havent completed it yet after a couple of years and i am in no rush to either...maybe i never will, i just love to race...
 
I've got 4 memory cards. The first has my original game I played in GT3 when i first got the disc (about a year ago) at 95'ish% (all golds (except the licenses), only two enduros done and no time trials. The second has the 2nd game I started about 6 months ago sitting at 98'ish% (all golds but the licenses...only 5 times trials done). The 3rd I started 4 weeks ago when I started racing in the weekly here is at around 35% I think, basically it is my "good" game the one I know what I am doing, buying stuff from scratch (no getting cars from other games) and enjoying some fun racing in the weekly with. My 4th memory card purchased 2 weeks ago is for GT4P which I started playing last week and actually enjoy the school-mode and am working my way through for all golds.

I've obviously had no real interest in completeling 100% but I am interested in the "how fast can it be done" for some reason. I also like the concept of "how fast can it be done AND you can only buy no cars" (i think you can do that, you can win all the cars you need to enter various races can't you?).

My strategy...

Start the stopwatch....Start the new game with the time trials, win the Panoz...move to the licenses and just get bronzes (unless you are a superstar and get all golds on your frist try). Finish arcade mode on hard. Blitz what races you can in the Beginner and Am. leagues with the Panoz (should be all the car qualifies for), win the races you can't enter the Panoz in with your prize cars, sell the ones you don't need. Move to the enduro races, win what you can with the panoz oand prize cars. By now you should be nearing 75% and will get the 787b. Take that car and blitz the pro league races (where it qualifies) use prize cars won o finish the rest of pro and the remaining enduro races...stop stopwatch...you are golden!
 
I've thought about this quite a bit. I think racing to 100% could be a challenge of it's own. What an endurance!!

Scuderia - I've done pretty close to what you're talking about. I won the Panoz and started clicking off races in rapid form. There are only a few cars that need to be purchased and/or modified. I'm planning to finish the game and spend as few of credits as possible. I don't remember how far along I am.

What cars do you need to buy that you don't (can't) win somewhere?
 
I'm not sure exactly. There is a list burried somewhere deep within the bowels of GTPlanet. The races that have really strict entry, like Legend of Silver Arrow and such. I believe it's not more than five though.

I was considering those series/races. I thought about it (granted under 15mins without the game in front of me) but I am pretty sure you win cars to meet those requirements at some point in the three leagues. The Alteeza cup ones were the main one I was not sure of. I know you can win the alteeza race touring race car, but not the alteeza rs2000 other than winning the alteeza series Does the touring car version qaulify for all three levels?
 
FWIW, I did all the licensing and kept the time. I rounded off to closest minute and all licenses are gold. Break-down as follows...

B : 12 min
A : 22 min
IB : 21 min
IA : 31 min
Spr : 38 min
Rly : 13 min

If I get ambitious enough, I might time Arcade mode. But trying to keep track of entire time to 100% will take more energy than I care to expend.

It won't be necassary to time yourself, as you're not including menu seeking time anyway (:

However, if you're interested in simply compiling time data you could go to GT3Times.com and snatch up all their fastest (or even just fast) times from their database and add them together.

here is a distinction didn't even consider. There are two "fastest" time modes here.

1) fastest play through time. meaning how fast it took your to play the game, includes scrolling menus, setting up cars, navigation in the game..etc

2) fastest overall (or combined) time. meaning you ONLY add your test/lap/race/series times to get your final time. This is a different take on the "fastest time" than I think was intended for this thread.....though this one is sorta cooler but could theoretically take LONGER given the car setup/testing (which of course wouldn't be included in your final time) to nail those fast times in the actual races/hot laps....

Yup...I don't think you can get a tuscan anywhere other than winning the tuscan series.

The Mercs though I am not sure of. You can win the DTM CLK which can be entered in all merc races, right?
 
I am uncertain of the DTM CLK.

About the "100% time", I think it would be interesting for a "from start to finish" in real world time. Like, everyone starts with a clean card on March 1st. The first person to achieve 100% is the victor.

if I had the time i would join, but between real life, work, GT4P and the weekly races here I wouldn't be able to be competitive...

Though the "fastest overall race time" could be something I would do, though that would take months.

Yes, I AM including menu seeking time as well as time to re-run if I didn't get gold on the first try. For example, I had to run A7 6 or 7 times before I got gold. Same thing with IA6... ran that 13 times before gold. Some others maybe 2 or 3 times.

I looked at the clock on my laptop, fired up GT3, and completed "b license". Wrote down the time. Started the next set of tests and wrote down the time when finished. So on and so forth.

What about time in between? Like sleep time and such.

What about GT4? We could say one year after completion everyone posts their fastest times for all races, tally them up or assign a point system and reward a winner.

i would think only time in the game, as in only when you sit down and turn the ps2 on.....

i think rules need to be defined...like do you have to win the races you are in or just complete/place in, do you only get one try or multiple trys, do you have a time limit....lots of stuff.

Well, I'd lose my job, and my girlfriend. My parents would dissown me, and my friends would stop calling. I probably wouldn't be able to make rent payments, and I might just starve to death. But I bet I could win! (:

THE DTM CLK can only be won at the Merc challenge. So yes, you have to buy a Tuscan and a Merc.

If this were to be an outright race from 0 to 100%, you'd have to figure in the fast car aspect. For instance, you'd have to exclude super cars (ie. cars considered racers) from any races other than Pro level and Exclude all F1's from every race except the F1 series. You'd have to award points for least amount of cash expended. Not most amount of cash at the end, but least spent, because you could simply blast all the races with an F1 and then sell your cars.

Let's keep this in a competitive level. Give a 2 month time frame, in it's own thread in the long race series forum, and let people have at it.

The GT3 Gumball!! The race form 0 to 100%!.
Set the rules and have at it.

Der_alta.....hmmmmmmmmm..........you got me thinking of actually doing this now. The rules Do need to be set though for this to happen, jsut like Der_alta mentioned....I think there emay be a few classes here. You would need to declare what class you are going for a head of time....

1) fastest overall time (only in races, not including testing, any car goes)

2) least money spent + fastest time

3) fastest non race car over all

etc etc

This however would not be a "fastest GT3 playthru competition" since that would involve recording menu scrolling and so on....this is JUST overall race/license times combined.


Things like how many tries do you get for the licenses (I would think something like you have 3-5 tries per test, you record your fastest time of those tries regardless of the gold/silve/bronze but you obviously have to pass)....or do you limit the amount of testing one can do over the 2 months? Remember testing time wouldn't count towards your final "overall time". Ummm, obviously no hybrids allowed.

Is someone going to take a organizer role for this one?
 
Well, before we start that thread how about we line out some rules here?

I don't think you'd have set car stipulations, though I think it's a good idea. All participants would have to have a record of which car they entered in each race and its horsepower at the start line. Finish times would be good too - they could be used as another point system.

Overall finish time would be the biggie though. And 'money spent' would be hard to track, but could be as well. And cash at the end of the game would be nice as well.

I think if you spent 2 hours a day five days a week you could finish in a month.
